On my first Spearfishing trip ever, I noticed I couldn’t hold my breath for half the time I had trained for outside of the water. It took me three attempts until my body just snapped and there I was diving for a pretty good duration for a first timer. Also I believe I experienced the muscle fatigue you guys talk about because swimming back to the boat I lost all my strength. And though I wouldn’t make it

Been looking for some sites or videos that explains Dive Reflex in a simple manner, seems like this is the only one. Thanks for the explanation!

    Very informative 👏
May I request a similar video showing the effect of diving on the lungs, O2 distribution, and CO2 accumulation in a human body. As well as the phases that the human body goes through at different depths, I would suggest that 45m would be enough as a bottom limit. Videos like this are priceless and very important as only very few freedivers or divers practising spearfishing, for example, know about human biology and anatomy changes when diving.

It slows your heart down but temporarily increases your blood pressure during the hold and maybe for sometime after depending on your body.
