- TestDrive was invited by Nissan Canada to Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Mont-Tremblant Québec for the finale of the 2018 Nissan Micra Cup, September 21 to 23.
The Coupe Nissan Micra Cup is a Canadian racing event that consists exclusively of Nissan Micra race cars, tuned in part by Nismo for this 6-race series held annually in Ontario and Québec, Canada. We were invited for the final leg of the championship at Circuit Mont-Tremblant to watch the race and experience some quality Canadian motorsport.
The racing version of the Nissan Micra is based on the production and street version of the Nissan Micra, with a tuned suspension, better brakes, a stripped out interior, racing seat, harness, and crash cage. While this car isn't street legal, it uses the same engine that's found on the 2018 Nissan Micra S.
We show some of the qualification racing that took place during the Sunday morning of the Micra Cup, and some of the event itself. Nissan also invites enthusiasts and owners as part of the Cup festivities, getting a front-row seat to the excitement, and also the chance to drive their own street-legal cars on the race track during a mid-day parade.
We talk about some of the enthusiast building Nissan is doing with this type of event, and why we think this is right up our alley when it comes to automotive enthusiasm.

I love my Nissan Micra. ❤
It may only be a 1.2 DiG, but i've done 86,000 care free miles. Never ever broke down! I've owned dozens of Micras in the past & always get more than I paid when selling. The sensible car that shocks.
Glad to hear it!
Those kooky Canucks and their itty-bitty cars are so adorable 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Super adorable!
Nice tiny cars. Cheers
We're starting to notice them everywhere after seeing them on the track!
That’s cool to see micra cars racing always loved to see small cars racing its interesting because you don’t see something like this everyday but one question where they modified or stock engines?
Engine is stock. Only exhaust mods and race prep.
Pretty much! The brakes are also beefed up a bit, so we're told. But the engine is stock!
How fun! We don't get the Micra in the U.S.. It looks smaller than the Versa or is it the same car?
I believe it's smaller than the Versa!
In europe we have class for Citroen C1 (Toyota Yago) pretty much cheapest race car ever. Stock brakes and so on. No mods other than safety mods in interrior.
Nice! I think these kinds of racing series' are really interesting, comes down to driver skill more than how much money you can throw at a car, at least from an enthusiast grade level.
The real fact is to run in front you need about 10000$ per week end to have a chance to win , and a incredible driver ...
The micras are more lighter than versas with the same engine, so they are better and faster.
Fair enough
previous generation nissan micra is quite ugly...
the new is much more aggressive but despite this still has a poor handling
but ok the 1.6 N/A with sport exaust sounds good for such a simple car
I know, right! You'd never know it was a Micra on the track if you didn't see it. There were some insanely loud cars that weekend though, and Nissan brought up the press GT-R to take around the track a few times.
I loved the k13s design. It looks so cute imo
