Helen, this was simply amazing. I have tried to do some hand quilting, but was completely in the dark. You turned on that little light bulb in my brain. You make it so simple and easy, yet beautiful ... now, if it will just work the same way for me. I'll be keeping an eye out for more tutorials from you.
Hi Helen. I just love your manner in teaching. You are easy to follow and you explain things so well. You also make it look so easy. I just love watching you and think that you are one talented lady! Love to hear you great accent too. Many thanks to you and to A.P.Q. for this fantastic video tutorial, I will definitely have to try this in hopes it turns out as nice as yours. I wanted to say thank you so much for this instructional video! I am a beginner on a mid arm quilting machine & the roadmap tutorial made it easy to follow along & implement into my quilting! It’s far from perfect, but it doesn’t look half bad...I know it will improve with more practice, & this is a great start!
This is brilliant!
Helen, you're my quilting hero!

I’m blown away! Now I need to give it a shot on some practice fabric - I’ve always wondered how I could do that in my own! Thank you
I can see using this with my longarm too in order get very pretty all over design that I’m sure will be balanced throughout the entire quilt! Thanks for sharing this!
Helen, this is a great technique! Thank you.
Wow that looks smashing! I wouldn't mind having a go at that, even though I've only got an ordinary sewing machine it looks like it would work. Thank you so much.
Great easy way to quilt, I can imagine the same technique for hand quilting. 👌
Love this. You have made this look so easy and simple.
You made that look super easy! Thanks!
Great information!
I can’t say thank you enough. I’ve been agonizing over how to do an all over design on several quilts. I was going to buy some stencils and use the pounce pad. This is brilliant. I have a Panda pencil and I love it.
I really like that technique! Thank you for sharing!
You’re a genius!
I love this tutorial!!!! What a great idea. Thank you!
Very nice!!
Ill have to invest on a Panda pencil too... thanks for the tip.
Your video is wonderful, it actually makes me feel like maybe I can do this instead of just straight lines and… Thank you
What an Absolute wonderful idea. I’m going to give this one a try. Thank-you for sharing.
Cute: No pandas injured in the making of the pencil. Oh wow! What a great idea--- the map!

Love this. Saving my pennies to purchase a Sweet Sixteen.
Love this design. Thank you for sharing 🌻
Oh my goodness Helen this is amazing, I have a sweet sixteen but struggle quite a bit ! I think I could do this with lots of practice, flows so well. Love from Tasmania.
Absolutely genius. I’ll be using this soon. Thank you so much.
Absolutely brilliant!
This is an awesome technique. I always get intimidated by just freehand swirls like other videos show. I love to have a template when I FMQ and this is so easy to modify to fit the space!
This is so cool! Thanks for the great Tutorial!
this is awesome! thank you for sharing this technique.
Absolutely and awesome design!
Thank you for a great tutorial!
A great tip! 👍 thanks for sharing
Helen, this was GREAT! Can you show us other designs that would work like this?
That was amazing. Thank you.
Good video! I like the idea of marking your quilt while you are in the process of gaining confidence in your free motion skills.
As far as marking tools go, I’ve found that the color Bohin chalks stain. The whites are fine, though. Just a reminder to check every new tool you use.
I'm excited to try this!
Amazing. Thank you so much . I have trouble doing the echo style. this is the answer for me.
Brilliant. Thank you!
Great info. Thank you 👍😁
That really does make more sense than some I've seen. Tell me, though, what is the purpose for creating that loop of thread at the beginning?
Hi Sheila the reason you bring the bobbin thread to the top of the quilt when you start to FMQ is so the bobbin thread doesn't make a jumbled mess on the back of your quilt
Brings up.bottom thread so no mess underneath
Very impressive. More please?????
This is a great strategy! I really struggle with figuring out what pattern to use when I quilt.
Amazing
This is fantastic! Thank you so much for simplifying this for me. Is that a darning foot you're using?
Love it thankyou ❤️
Love this technique! I'm leary of using "iron away" pens as I've heard the lines can re-appear down the road. Have you ever experienced this?
Love this idea, is there other designs that could work?
You made this look so eas
Lovely. I'm always afraid to machine quilt and end up quilting by check. Thanks for the help!
Thank you so much for this! I started with a small project & it turned out great...I’ve moved on to applying this technique to my quilts & no matter what I do, the weight of the quilt creates a heavy drag...it doesn’t flow smoothly...any suggestions?
Here's another video with Helen that gives tips for supporting your quilt. ruclips.net/video/Wktzw6wRMFI/видео.html
Thank you . Don't look as hard this way . Wonder if it would look good on embroidery squares
Where would one find those Panda pencils? I have tried numerous white markers, but they don’t give me the result that I desire. I would love to try something new. Great technique. Thank you.
Hi Donna - Helen sells them on her website here: helengodden.com/product/panda-marking-pencil/
No pandas were harmed... LOL
