It was cool to hear that you had a fun time. I managed to make it to all 3 films, and I plan to watch the rest (that is if my work schedule does not interfere). I had to drive at least an hour to watch the movies because they weren’t showing in my theater. Based on this video and the reactions you posted, I’d say I had more or less the same experience as you. There were some notable moments for me. Spider-Man - It was a packed theater. A lot of people were wearing Spider-Man attire (not full suits though) and they all seemed relatively excited to see the film. They laughed at the funny moments and only cheered and applauded at the very end. Spider-Man 2 - Relatively the same as the first movie’s screening. One funny reaction I remember was a shot of MJ putting her hand on Peter’s hand in the cafe scene. The hand she places has the engagement ring. This made my audience either gasp or laugh (I also laughed given the context). Once again, the only cheer and applause from the audience came at the end. I actually bought a pizza and a hotdog when I saw this film (mostly because I was starving). I ate the pizza when Peter said “Pizza Time”, and I ate the hotdog when Peter eats his hotdog during the “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head” montage. I didn’t draw attention to myself, it was just a dumb little thing I decided to do. Spider-Man 3 - I went to a midday showing of the film because I had plans to watch another movie at a later time. It wasn’t packed, but it certainly wasn’t dead either. This screening was the one where I heard the most commotion. For one thing, I think there was a special needs kid in the front. They would occasionally moan loudly and the people accompanying them would try to shush them. This wasn’t a big deal and I’m sure the audience didn’t blame the kid (it’s not their fault after all). I would occasionally hear people in front or the back recite lines as they were watching in the movie. They weren’t loud or in your face about it; I only heard them because I was close to them. The only thing that bothered me were these two girls next to me who would talk sometimes during the movie. I kid you not they were having some dumb conversation about the drinks they bought. Thankfully they didn’t talk too much. You mentioned that some people laughed during the scene of Peter sitting down looking angry. My audience did that too (as well as I), and it’s mainly because of memes. The Bully Maguire meme has really changed the perception of this movie, so much so that a serious scene of Peter having an outburst saying “You’ll get your rent when you fix this damn door!” is seen as funny by the audience. Another note-worthy moment is when Peter says “See ya chump!” and jumps, someone made a faint fart sound. This is a reference to the video where someone edited a fart sound effect into the scene. Despite all that, the audience still did not cheer or applause until the very end. I didn’t really chat with anyone about the films after each screening, but I heard a lot of chatter from others talking praise of the films. I overheard a discussion after the third film essentially saying that while the third film certainly had its weak moments it was still an enjoyable experience. I overall had a lot of fun watching the Raimi Trilogy in theaters. I was too young to watch the first two in theaters, but I saw every other subsequent film that was released. I know a lot of people have said they’re going to stop watching after this trilogy, but I still want to see the rest of the films. I don’t expect the turn up and excitement to be the same, but I’m still very curious as to who’s gonna show up. Cheers to you, and I hope you enjoy your viewing of The Amazing Spider-Man.
