Ngl, Apple CarPlay is a make or break deal! Thanks for being straightforward and tabbing your chapters in the video for convenience 👍🏼
100% agree! Good to know people actually find that helpful
I don't comment often, but when I do, it's cuz you're worthy 👏 My built Widebody arrived yesterday. At 1st all these widgets are confusing, but really there's not much to them. I do however, wish Bluetooth would activate the Car Play / screen mirroring instead of needing to plug in. I don't use it because of that reason - too much to do, but worth it on road trips. Thank you for allowing all us to understand how quickly to use this car's setup. I'm sure I'll watch it a cpl more times 😄
Thanks Neil, appreciate that! How was the first day with the Charger?
The Charger needs to be updated to the uConnect 5 media screen which would bring wireless CarPlay. There are some aftermarket devices you can use which would give you wireless CarPlay though.. not as good as a factory option but still an option
New Charger owner...so much explained without "having"to search a manual. Thanks
Hah that's what I was striving for! Glad the video helped and hope that you love your new Charger!
This helped me unlock my car play! Awesome vid thanks for the in depth walkthrough
Awesome, glad it helped!
this helped me a lot almost spent money to upgrade for gps thank god I saw your channel right on time
Nice, glad the video helped!
Loved your video! I just purchased a 2023 dodge charger sxt plus. My 2014 charger had a lot of this but not the navigation. This one has so much! Too much lol! Thank you!!
Thanks Laurel! Such a big difference from the 2014 to the 2023 model haha. What color did you end up going with?
@@CarsWithSteve the granite! She's pretty!!! 💜
Nice color choice! Enjoy the new ride!
Dodge should be paying you for this! Thank you very much!
I like the way you think haha. Glad the video helped!
Thx so much! Gotta Last Call Hellcat Charger today. This is very helpful.
You're welcome! Exciting about the Hellcat!! What color did you end up going with?
@@CarsWithSteve Destroyer
nice choice
This video is very good. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the coperhansive video.
you're welcome! What version of the Charger do you have?
I just upgraded from an ‘05 Ram to a ‘21 Charger. Lots of changes since then lol. To be honest I actually had no idea what Apple Car play was 😂.
Anyways, thanks for the walkthrough! It helped a lot.
Wow just a bit of a change there and you're welcome! How are you liking the Charger so far?
@@CarsWithSteve definitely liking it. I had the hemi in my truck so I’m used to the power, but this sure does handle a lot better! 18 years of a difference in tech is nice too 🤣
Haha huge difference in tech. Think you'll end up taking it on a track?
@@CarsWithSteve probably not. Just cruising around and having some fun on the road. I plan to change the exhaust at some point, and some other small things, but nothing that would make it competitive on the track.
Fair enough, this does make for a nice cruising car! I'm just starting to dig into track builds a bit more and finding it's a pretty crazy world
This video should be watch for all new Dodge owners.
I will get my Scatty ASAP.
Thanks for all details
Thanks Sultan, glad you enjoyed the details! Pretty exciting about your Scat Pack! When do you think you'll have yours?
Well explained, Thank you.🌹
You're welcome Khalid! What's the build you have for your Charger?
@@CarsWithSteve 21 Widebody Scat
@@Sir_Emo nice! That scat engine is great
The video I was looking for. 👌 Thanks. You answered all my questions before buying that car this week.
Awesome, glad the video helped! What build are you going for?
@@CarsWithSteve SXT but I wanted to make sure it had Android Play and your video confirm it and you showed it. Thanks again

It’s an oddly satisfying thing to see 🧐
I’m waiting for my charger by next week
That's exciting! Which trim level did you go for?
its cool youre doing these for other cars. can you maybe try switching a camera between you and the screen?
A multi cam setup? Hmm.. Haven't tried it that way before but I'll give it a shot in the next video I shoot to see how it turns out!
@@CarsWithSteve cool
So do you need to the cable connected to the iPhone to get car play? Like to be able to use the maps and music?
The Dodge uConnect 4 system only has wired Android Auto or CarPlay. So you'd be wired for maps but if you're hooked up over bluetooth you'd be able to listen to music no problem!
Could i add options? I have a 2020 392 charger and just recently swapped my seats and the new seats are also ventilated and my car Uconnect doesn’t show the ventilated option is there a way to add it?
As long as the seats are wired in correctly your dealer should just need to reprogram the uConnect 4 screen
Plz help to explain how can we switch to full screen while using waze navigation via android auto.... thanks.
You can't get true full screen with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.. the setup with the icons along the bottom is the closest it gets...
I have a 2016 Rt challenger I upgraded the screen and also the usb ports but I still don’t have the CarPlay option could you help me out
There are some early models of uConnect that don't have support for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay so that could be the case. Do you know what version the uConnect screen is?
I have a question for you. I just bought a 2022 Charger Scat. I listen to music on a thumbdrive in one of the USB ports in the console. When I plug in my Android phone into the other USB, it cancels out the thumbdrive and stops playing music from it. Is this normal? I checked the owner's manual and it said you can only have one Bluetooth device connected at a time. Is the thumbdrive considered a Bluetooth device? Thank you.
If you have USB auto play enabled that could be the reason why it does that. The thumbdrive isn't considered bluetooth. If you re-select it from media sources does it at least continue playing that audio?
@@CarsWithSteve I try it again, but I believe that I get a prompt "device not supported."
To use Apple car play does it have to always be plugged in Via USB? Or can it be done through Bluetooth?
You'd need to stay connected over USB for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
Nice video but it shows wired CarPlay. What about wireless? How could I do that por favor?
Would be great if that was supported. UConnect 4 only supports wired CarPlay and Android Auto
@@CarsWithSteve got you. It would have been great indeed. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
So on my charger it’s a 2020 but my screen looks much smaller is there a way I can fix this?
There were a few different factory options available, with the smaller 7" screen standard. You could technically upgrade to the larger 8.4", just need to get the whole assembly. Probably looking somewhere in the $1,500 - $2k ball park for the parts unless you can find a scrapped one and have a dealer program it to your VIN
I do t get the enable car play prompt when I plug my phone in. And on projection manager nothing pops up. I have CarPlay enabled in my phone
Is your USB cable an apple original? The USB cable needs to be data compatible.. If it is then few things you could try:
1. On your phone go to Settings --> General --> CarPlay. Find your car and make sure that CarPlay is enabled
2. If it is, then delete the phone from the vehicle and delete the vehicle from the phone and re-connect
3. If that doesn't work, reset the screen. With your car on, press and hold the volume button and tuner knob for 10-20 seconds. It should flash, then turn off before turning back on again
Mine doesn’t have the projection manager I have a 2019 dodge charger pursuit I just have do not disturb and paired phones and audio devices
Hmm wonder if that's just a feature of the police pursuit trim. Does yours have the smaller uConnect 4 screen or the larger 8.4"?
is there a way to have the display screen come on when the radio is off? I always have to press the power button to get the screen to come on.
Not that I know of.. once the button to turn off the radio is pressed it stays off. That threw me off the first time I started shooting these videos and I haven't found a way to keep it on with the radio off
@@CarsWithSteve One more question...when pairing my phone and contacts...the contacts were added 2-3 times. Why? Can I remove the multiples?
Oh that's weird.. You'd have to delete the phone and then reconnect and if that doesn't work it would need to be a factory reset..
My 2021 keeps saying device not supported when I hook up either one of my iPods in either USB
Hmmm.. what gen iPod are you using? Does hooking up a phone let you play audio at least?
I don’t have projection manager. It’s also a ex cop car I have paired phones, paired audio sources and add device that’s it no apple car play or android auto😔
Probably just have the base uConnect 4 which doesn't have support for CarPlay or AA.. If you can find a uConnect 4c with nav unit off a scrapped Charger/Challenger you could technically have it installed a re-programmed though
Ya same problem here that module isn’t cheap and does it have to match your screen size in the car?
I bought a used charger 17’ how can i reset them uconnect so that i can coonect to it through the app on my phone ?
You shouldn't need to reset uConnect to hook up your phone.. As long as you have an active subscription you should be able to connect. If it's giving you troubles, go to settings, scroll to the bottom and reset that way
Can i add navigation system on my dodge charger 2016 sxt?
Unfortunately not. The base uConnect 4 doesn’t have factory map compatibility
You need to use usb for CarPlay to work? No wireless carplay?
Not in the old uConnect 4 system unfortauntely
Update the device from Amazon only works with Android Auto device does not support apple carplay
I have a 2016 dodge charger sxt but I do not see projection manager on my screen under apps??
You might not have support for Android Auto or CarPlay in yours. Some base trim levels would only have support for bluetooth
2017 dodge charger SRT badged 392 dodge had to put a new ucconect in how do I get the Bluetooth symbol on home screen under the SXM symbol?
The older versions of uConnect didn't really offer much for customization
@@CarsWithSteve Ok before Dodge dealer changed the radio it had it on the bottom so dodge dealership put a older radio in my 2017 charger SRT 392 calling them Monday morning.
@@beeblack2210 Oh interesting. Is it the same screen that you had before?
@@CarsWithSteve Yes when the car screen goes off it say SRT like the old one.
It doesn’t give me the option to connect car to apple car play only using usb
Few things you could try:
1. try a different USB port
2. make sure that your phone iOS is up to date
3. make sure your uConnect screen is up to date
4. try an apple branded USB cable
If none of those work then have service check it out during your next scheduled maintenance
I have charger 2015. Can i have apple carplay? Is there a way to upgrade my uconnect?
You could probably swap for a uConnect 4c if you can find one.. would need to get programming done though. There are some pretty good aftermarket decks available too though which would give you wireless CarPlay
Does the screen between the speedo show maps too? Or just basic turn by turn?
Just a basic turn by turn - not many manufacturers offer the full map in the cluster screen
I have the same car but why when I connected my phone the CarPlay opción doesn’t show up??
Could be a few things.. If you have the base uConnect 4 screen... it doesn't support CarPlay. If you have a uConnect 4c screen and it isn't working try this:
1. Delete the phone from the vehicle
2. Delete the vehicle connection from your phone bluetooth and CarPlay (Settings --> General --> CarPlay)
3. Re-add your phone and plug in USB to connect
Other option is to try a different USB port and make sure that you're using an Apple original USB cable
I have a 21 charger, can you not use android auto unless plugged in?
Nope.. needs a USB connection to work
I just found out the USB in my dodge charger wouldn’t work for some reason, and I did try following your steps still not Working.
What's the trim level and model year for your Charger? Are you using an Android or iPhone?
This works for dodge charger rt 2016
Good to know, I'll update the video title!
Bro can some one tell me why my horn honk is not working while locking the car with remote. It’s enabled from settings
Do you have it set to 1st or 2nd press?
@@CarsWithSteve 2nd press. However i have tried on 1st press to and honk with remote start too but it didn’t work
But where is the USB port??? I have a rental 2021 Dodge Charger with no owners manual. I’ve looked all over and can’t find a USB port.
Haha missed explaining it in this video but it's my updated 2022 version! ruclips.net/video/89K2vZi-oyY/видео.html
Check in the armrest. There's a sliding tray that it's hidden behind at the back
Is it work for a 2019 charger GT as well?
It should work the same. The 2019 has the same uConnect 4 or uConnect 4c options as the 2021 model
Does it works for a 2018 scatpack
If you’ve got the same u Connect 4 screen it will!
Why are the GT Durango’s & chargers different then the challengers? My GT challenger didnt come with this stuff stock but the charger and my Durango did.
It's going to depend on the configuration that's chosen by the customer for a factory order or dealer for stock unit. The Durango has the new uConnect 5 option whereas the Charger and Challenger are still on the older uConnect 4. And each model has different screen options
@@CarsWithSteve can I swap them out for a 5 ?
@@gottiboutmoney as far as I know it hasn't been done yet. It would need some in depth programming that dealers probably wouldn't be willing to do
@@CarsWithSteve damn I was hoping it was just plug and go
@@gottiboutmoney Would be nice if it was just plug and play but it would need to be programmed once it's swapped
Can we connect apple car play wirelessly?
Unfortunately not.. uConnect 4 only supports wired Android Auto and CarPlay
How can I use Apple car play without having the phone connected to the USB?
No way to do it on the uConnect 4 or previous gen screens. Wireless is a feature in uConnect 5 and newer
Update the device from Amazon only works with Android auto does not support apple carplay
Does the 2016 Dodge Charger sxt has the CarPlay future?
Nope.. the 2017 Charger got it. There are some aftermarket screens you could get though if you really wanted it
Is it possible to swap that radio to a 2016 SXT ?
@@wendylou3469 would have to find a replacement screen and have it reprogrammed but it should be doable
can you use car play without a cable on a 21 challenger anyone know?
No.. the last gen uConnect 4 needs USB for CarPlay and Android Auto
Are you able to start the car with your iPhone?
Also my 2021 Dodge Charger srt don’t offer half of what you displayed. 🥴🤣🤣
You can through the uConnect phone app if your vehicle has a built in modem. Head to your phone's app store and search for uConnect then connect to your vehicle
The SRT base is still a great car even without some of the added tech! Should have access to a 2022 in the next month or so and will post a video on that one once I can
@@CarsWithSteve my Uconnect app says there’s no active subscriptions available.
how do you activate uconnect nav ?
If yours doesn't have that feature activate you can go to the Chrysler Group uConnect site to purchase it
chryslergroup.navigation.com/sku/E00000776209/en_US/ChryslerNA/USD
I like wireless Apple car play
So do I, the setup looks good
Ugh Apple CarPlay won’t come on this system is far too complicated I hate it. Thanks for trying though
Don't give up yet! Here are a few things you could try:
1. Switch to a different USB port . If that doesn't work...
2. Delete the phone connection from your vehicle and delete the vehicle connection from your phone. Then on your phone go to Settings --> General --> CarPlay and delete the vehicle connection there. Try plugging in again over USB.
If none of that works, replace the USB cable with an Apple OEM original. I find that some 3rd party cables don't transfer data properly for CarPlay
My android auto will flash on my dash for a lil bit then the screen will turn back to the normal menu
Hmm are you updated to the latest version of android auto and have the software updated for the uConnect screen?
Im glad you made a vid on this. I didn’t realize how retarded I was until this very day buying my sweet Charger
HAHA there are so many things this screen can do. What Charger trim level did you go with?
@@CarsWithSteve just R/T but V-8 with fully loaded packages. I feel very lucky considering it was pretty much last normal color in the state. Black. Black Suadex dark rim 😁
Just an R/T 😝 haha, the V8 is great! If you shoot any vids on it, send it my way
A friend has maps showing all d time.
Can my charger do d same.
If your Charger has navigation you can simply press the navigation button in the bottom tray.
If it doesn't you would need to connect through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and use Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze

I know that Apple CarPlay used space is based on what's allowed from the manufacturer. I've heard of that issue with the 7" screen but not in the uConnect 4c 8.4"
Android Auto keeps disconnecting 2020 Challenger
Few things to try:
1. Make sure the vehicle software is up to date
2. Update your phone operating system and Android Auto to the latest version
3. Get a factory (Samsung or phone brand) USB cable
If none of those solve the issue schedule it in for warranty work
Having problems with phone contacts showing up. He didn't address that. Looks like it didn't work for him either.
I selected no when I went to connect originally which is why my contacts didn't show. Delete the phone from the vehicle and the vehicle from the phone and then re-connect them - it should prompt you to download contacts
@@CarsWithSteve thanks for trying to help. I've tried to remove and forget the device five times. All doesn't help. No prompt to sync contacts. The contacts show up as grayed out. I can't even manually put in the contacts info. I've even tried exporting contacts to Bluetooth from my phone. Didn't work either.
That's really odd. Only other thing that could work would be to delete the vehicle connection from the phone and then perform a factory reset on the Sync3 screen - reconnecting afterwards. Downside is that would remove all your presets and map settings...
Don’t understand why dodge wants 315$ yearly for this but my mustang had all of this for free kinda lame and greedy being honest
Every manufacturer is different. There were rumblings a few years ago of Ford charging for FordPass but it's still free as of right now.
You can still at least use Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay but it would be useful to be able to remote unlock/start through your phone without having to pay extra

If you’re running into issues connecting CarPlay or android auto the usual fixes are to switch to a different usb port or replace the usb cable with a manufacturer original. So get a usb cable right from apple or Samsung. I find that 3rd party cables don’t like to transfer data properly
