It needs to be taken to a competent exhaust shop, that is a poor job on that x frame. Using flex pipe is a big no no. 8:43
Engine choices in '63: 235,283,327 and 409. 348 was from '58 to 60 I believe.
348 was produced until 1961. gone by '62

No madder where the engine stands she is a true blast from the past, for the hot roaders of the day would do anything to keep there rides a live, for this Impala is a lovely thing to see and worth every damn penny.

@@user-ip5dm6jf8kthe heads on the 348 and 409 resemble a W. The combustion chamber is built into the piston top and the heads are flat across the valves. They are cool looking engines and it is amazing the 409 was capable of 425 hp. The LS6 454 only topped it by 25hp.

Takes me back to 1979 when a friend had a '64 impala with same body but beige in color with 327 2 speed power glide transmission .. we picked up a couple girls and spreaded a blanket on that huge trunk.... keeping this pg you know what happened next lol... Another friend challenged to a race with '79 Pontiac Lemans with 350 3 speed automatic and the impala walked away from him.... those were the good old days! ✌️❤️

I borrowed a friend's 1963 Chev Impala in '79 to take a girl her BF and her BFs date their HS senior prom.
It was black on black all of the exterior chrome was replated in a gold tone.
It had a '67 C10 front end suspension and sat up like a gasser or a truck. It was very impressive looking. It sounded good but was a slow. The car only had an aging 283 in it.
I often wonder, whatever happened to that car. 🤔
Anyways the car you got there I love it.
Love this 63 and the engine is so cool 😎, if I had the money I would buy the red 61 you have as well and swap power trains 👍 then 348 would be period correct and that red impala has a good 305 for the 63, either way thanks for the great cars at reasonable prices and your awesome 😎 videos, stay blessed.

Swap out the carbs for a couple of Holly Brawlers, and you will be all set. New belt too.
In in Costal Calif. Man, duel 4 bbl carbs, that''s a weekend warrior here at nearly 6 bucks a gallon. Sounds real nice tho.

348 was available until 61 in cars and 64 in trucks.

I've been going through old videos! You all have sold so nice damn rides! I'm a chevy man and I'm partial to Chrysler, dodge products too! Would like to find a 71/72 chevelle reasonable price! Or 57 chevy at reasonable price! Don't have to be perfect neither 1 of them! All original if possible

348 was a late 50s motor does look just like a 409 has fender flags for a 327 I would check the rear frame rails had one in the early 70s frame broke after the body mounts behind the rear rear wheel
348 produced from 1958 to 1961.

Why would someone put a 348 in a '63 Impala? Originally designed as a truck motor, that thing was a cast iron boat anchor. (I had one in a '60 Impala) A 327 would be lighter and much more reliable.
...because someone took the 409 out and replaced it with a 348. 348's were from 1958 to 1961 only.
@@jkline3647 This car was likely powered by a small block originally. The cross flag emblems without the '409' script were assigned to cars with a 327.

The things I would change about this car would be to "dechrome" the engine bay . Change those yellow plug wires. Find a og looking breather. Put on 12 volt alternator that looks like the old school generators. 🖤 Awesome ride ! 💢---------------------🏁

348 with 2 4s should have roasted the tires buy no all show and no go did look good could pass appearance of the 409
Take off the carb and clean the ethanol green and you should be good
no...change to a stock camshaft and remove the 2x4 carbs.
Some had 409 cid.

The 348 was available in passenger cars until 1961. Trucks until ‘64.

they didn't. 348 was gone by the end of the 1961 model year. thiis car had a 409....someone removed it and replaced with the 348. itv was a common practice in the '60s
