    The reason lab didn’t make it so you could pick up the ball, is because they said you’ll be picking the ball up out of the hole more.

    Been playing their Blād model for four seasons now. As someone who would switch putters at the turn in the past, the LAB being an unquestioned staple in the bag for so long is an actual miracle. As a presser, the press grip was immediately comfortable for me. A tip I give everyone who tries mine or owns a new one, relax those hands as much as possible and let it swing. People are so accustomed to steering a putter without even knowing it. After a few sessions with the LAB and no longer feeling that torque, you’ll never be able to go back. Enjoy!

    I use a LAB, the most important thing about the LAB putters, is you have to LET the putter flow to the target. ALL other putters you need to manipulate the face to "square it" not so with the LAB it is important to allow it to do its thing.

    Going into getting my LAB Mezz 1 XL AR I had watched and read multiple reviews about how one of the hardest things to get used to with it was letting go and letting the clubhead do what it wants, just concentrating on tempo and stroke length/speed. So I went in switching from a more stressed/straight arm traditional grip I used on a SIK model C AR and going back to the claw that I had used back when I used a Broomstick style putter. Honestly trying to put no input into the stroke and just let it happen. It's hard, but when you get it it's very rewarding. I do wish I could pick up my ball with it though, maybe that's because they expect more balls to go in the hole though. Then again from my average putting distance that's an ask from any putter. I do have to say my distance control, I think due to feel, is much improved with the lab so I have a lot more gimmies.

    The weight, or lack of weight you're experiencing is related to torque. Since the putter is not rotating in motion, you're not feeling the perception of weight making it "feel" lighter. That was the biggest challenge I had initially with LAB putters. No longer an issue, light hands and allow the tech to do its thing you'll be on your way to fewer putts this season.

    I wasn't sure what to make of the demo's done with the "revealer", but it is definitely intriguing. Do you know of any places in Calgary that have any of the LAB models either for a putter fitting or just to roll and try (don't think Modern Golf has them under the brand availability)?
    $900 is a bit too steep for me to "test" and possibly have buyers remorse and LAB doesn't seem like they have the best return policies especially if you go with the custom option (which is understandable).
    Keep up the with good content!

    • @NewNineGolf
      @NewNineGolf  Год назад

      I don’t believe anyone in town has one to try unless you have a friend that has one. You can always go on the non custom route and if you don’t like it you should be able to sell it with ease on a marketplace. They are unique in the sense that the Lie Angle and Balance is specific to your set up. For instance my putter likely won’t set up perfect for you but the second I took it out of the box it fit perfect for me. Price wise, it’s relative to what you get - a custom putter. 1/1 vs mass production. You can get a steel shaft for no up charge to keep the cost down as well. I’m a fan so far and will be reviewing the Link blade putter soon as well. Thanks for supporting the channel 👊🏻

    • @NewNineGolf
      @NewNineGolf  Год назад +1

      I was negative on both so it means I was pulling both. The face angle was better with the LAB but the stroke was more left. Probably because I might be overcompensating or could be the lighter weight. Not sure. Reading some of the comments of people with a LAB. Looks like I have to let the putter do the work. I was actually having a discussion with the fitter about this as I was confused on how face angle and path work together for putting because it's not like a driver where you can draw or slice your putts. He told me face angle is more important. I came across this which is a good read. ralphmaltby.com/putter-face-angle-vs-path/#:~:text=The%20more%20important%20of%20the,result%20of%20the%20putters%27%20path.

    Seems maybe that "revealer" is just a nice trick. Why? The amount of energy to putt a ball seems so low vs. your grip or hold on the club i. Grip is stronger than any tiny "force" on the putter face from the hit. i.e. So your hold on a putter in the square position is guiding square is 98% by your hands. IF you have an swing arc, it will be an arc with a face loaded putter? I think 85% of your putting is in your confidence levels guiding intuition for distance and most of the aim. Rest of the aiming and distance is practice and good hand to eye coordination. Tell me how I am wrong? New putters works for a while, new confidence, then poof same old (per Lee Travino). ??

      Different types of putters work better for different types of strokes. Different alignment aids work best for different types of people based on their stroke and whether they are left eye or right eye dominant. The length, the lie and how it balances all have an effect. It's easy and very simple to say the putter doesn't matter. Perhaps take a look at a SAM putt lab session or go for a putter fitting if you're interested in seeing some actual data and researching the subject.
