    Thanks for the video - another great one. Really like the side by side wrist shot of the 2230 & 2254 at 10:30 - I imagine Peter Blake wearing the 2254 while he was at sea, and the 2230 when he's at the award dinner having won the race. The white gold bezel is understated - less 'flashy' than a ceramic one. Really interesting comparison and thanks for continuing to make these informative and fun videos - and I second the request to see your collection if you feel that would work.

      You'd be surprised, but these show up from time to time
      I waited a long time to buy one in pristine condition (fully original finish, never been polished, well kept movement) and a friend of mine was able to get one as well
      We love the 1120 Seamasters, especially these sword hand models, and will keep the legacy alive and in good hands 😉

    Amazing insights, didn't know those existed. Wonder if applied markers also have something to do with bezel being thicker, since hands would need to clear the raised indexes. I have the electric blue 2255.80 and absolutely love the thinness and the amazing dial. Also since those are speedy bracelets, I was able to swap my clasp from 1861 speedy on to it.

    • @omegawatchfan
      @omegawatchfan  16 дней назад

      Thanks. I believe the primary reason for the thicker bezel is the thicker white gold insert that it has to accommodate, but it may also have to do with the dial as well. The case dimensions, particularly the thinness, are my favorite aspect of these watches. That's good info regarding the speedy clasp which can be attached to these bracelets. Always nice to have more options!

      Do you know if it's possible to replace the 2230 bezel with the one from 2254? Asking because they are different thickness and thus the crystal sits higher

    Awesome video! Do you have any idea if a 2254 bezel would fit onto a 2230? I have a 2230 locally going for a great price but due to work I would prefer to have a 2254 bezel. Thanks in advance!

    • @omegawatchfan
      @omegawatchfan  Год назад

      i believe it will fit but there will be a small gap since the 2254 bezel is not as tall as the 2230 bezel. Probably not too obvious. This is because the 2230 bezel is slightly thicker as it has to accommodate a thicker bezel insert. The more common mod was to install a 2230 dial on a 2254, but now dials are hard to come by, so your idea may be the most viable option.

    The videos you make are definitely worth watching! I’m about to buy 2231.50, so it’s mechanical titanium with black dial, is this piece hard to find, and might be desirable by watch collectors?

    • @omegawatchfan
      @omegawatchfan  2 года назад

      Thank you for watching and commenting. I believe the 2231.50 is a great choice/value. They are much rarer than their steel counterpart, the 2254.50, yet not very different in price. You get the same exact slim case, beautiful dial and speedmaster-style bracelet, but in titanium. The grade of titanium Omega used at that time (grade 2) is very gray in color and somewhat soft and easy to scratch, however. I have a video showing 2231.50 as well.

  • @alexchen7112
    @alexchen7112 2 месяца назад +1

    How much thicker is the 2230.50? Do you know the thickness? I'm thinking about buying it instead of the 2254 but worry it might be too thick

    • @omegawatchfan
      @omegawatchfan  2 месяца назад

      I don't have a measurement but it is noticeably thicker and the watch is more top-heavy as well. While I like the 2230 dial a lot, I think the 2254 ultimately has better proportions and is superior in comfort.

    • @AlexChenny
      @AlexChenny 2 месяца назад +1

      I’m thinking about buying a 2230.50 right now and swapping the bezel insert. Do you think that’s a good idea? Would that resolve the top heavy issue?
      I really like the slimness of the 2254.50 but if 2231.50 is noticeably thicker then I might not do that.

    • @omegawatchfan
      @omegawatchfan  2 месяца назад

      Hi, I just saw this reply. The bezel insert for the 2254 is thinner than the one for the 2230, so it may sit too low in the 2230 bezel (the 2230 bezel itself is thicker than the 2254 bezel, to accommodate the thicker insert). However, I have never seen that done before so maybe it would look ok. I think a straight swap of the bezel might be better than only swapping the insert. It is a shame, some years ago it was possible to get those nice dials and just swap them into the 2254, but parts are much harder to find now.

    omega should remake the 2254.50.00 / 2264.50.00 with the 2230.50 movement

    I believe the applied indices and the the omega logo are also white gold. I wonder if the hands are as well.

    • @omegawatchfan
      @omegawatchfan  2 года назад

      My guess is the hands are not...a lot of these get some minor corrosion on the hands, but I don't know definitively.

      It was actually part of a trade. I am a big proponent of using forums in general for purchasing/trading. No middleman means a better price for both buyer and seller, and by participating you learn a lot and make great connections with others who share your interests.

      @@omegawatchfan very cool! The supply of these 2230‘s seems to be cornered by Japan for whatever reason. And I typically see them going for 3-4 grand on eBay when they trade for 2+ on forums but those r very rare.
