Sold the first 5.7 litre GC Hemi in the UK. Went to pick it up and two others (3.0 CRD) with x2 salesman and x1 set of trade plates. Got bored trying to stay in between the other two, one with a front pate and one a rear trade plate, sound of it in kickdown was awesome. So was driving the massive beast back to London with no number plates! I observed all speed limits religiously.
Had one of these on a 12 month lease. Loved the his-n-hers keys which electrically shifted the mirrors and driver's seat to the right places, when you unlocked it. Hated the barely 30mpg - on diesel
You can turn off the auto.seat/easy out in the menu on the dashboard. Also auto lights and wipers. I turned them all off in my Grand Cherokee Overland.
I had one of these, 150k miles, 6cl petrol. It was a great drive, massive boot but not so huge rear leg room. It had so many issues lol. One time it decided it didn't want to have a reverse gear. The air con leaked regularly, brake cylinder failed, it has a horrendous rocking problem if you hit a bump over 60 mph and many other issues. Still, loved it.
Vents could be the servos controlling the flaps. The reason that that the screen doesn't work is because someone had the dash out and forgot to plug something back in during reassembly.
Overland is an upper scale trim edition to the Limited. Different head unit, seats, steering wheel& gear leaver (wood look), sunroof, DVD. Yes, it is permanent 4x4 and all tyres have to match otherwise it puts stress on the transfer case. The glass does pop on the rear hatch but have to use the remote. For £1,000 it's s steal. I sold my Limited (traded) for £3,000 and the dealer sold it a week later for £7k. Though it only had done 68,000 miles which made it easier to sell. Mine needed £3k as it needed new tyres and lots of suspension work. There is a recall on the ignition which needs to still be done on your GC. It is a Merc unit. Parts are crazy expensive which is one of the reasons I got rid of mine.
I love a grand cherokee. Friends and family in the USA have them and I'll beg to drive them when I'm over there. If I could get one in my underground garage I'd have a 2001 4.7 v8 now. There's absolutely no point in the V8 over the 4 litre except that is sounds amazing
I had a 3.0 2006 as well. Looked at the 5.7 but it has almost the same power and torque as the v6. Couldn't justify paying 30% more for registration to have the same experience. They also sound great for a diesel. Only issue is parts costs are nuts if you can find them as they are scarce. Mercedes scrapped all their spare parts for them so have to source from the states and modify them to fit.
All Grand Cherokee WK are full time 4x4, they have a tolerance of 1mm in tyre circumference, but must be the same brand. Engine is a 3.0 crd Mercedes Unit OM642. Weak spot is the oil cooler seals, sitting in the V of the V6 lump, and shows itself with oil leaking from what appears to be the gearbox - but on closer inspection is coming down around the bellhousing. Part is cheap - get the upgraded ones!! They won't leak again. Long Job, 10 hour strip down - which is why people sell them as it is usually around a grand labour. Good thing is to cheak the turbo seals that often cause the turbo to fail whilst you are at it, as that has to come out as well and whilst you are there check over the swirl motor. Some upgrade the intake pipe as it can crack on the seal and leak. Check heater settings and positions for blend doors. Apart from that, they are fairly strong, as they were the last of the Jeeps from under the Daimler Benz umbrella before they went to Fiat. Gearboxes are strong, usually the solenoids if any problems. The 2005 models are the first and best year in terms of sales, as they are half the road tax of the 2006 on.
Maybe all of the ones in the UK are 4x4, but here in the US you can def. get them as 2wd, they're actually extremely common. That said, Overland trims were only AWD - it was the highest trim level.
@@ckm-mkc The Cherokee came as Part-time in the UK, but the Grands were always full time. Later models phased out all petrol options, which are still rare on the WK - there are a few Hemis around, and non existent on the later WK2. Another achievement really was the Quadradrive 2. That could pull away with traction on only one wheel, which is what Landrover are shouting and yelling about as ground breaking tech with the new Defender 20 years later.
The differences with the LImited is available in either 4x2 or 4x4, while the Overland comes with Quadra-Trac II® four-wheel drive (4WD) plus a few exterior styling bits in chrome I think
2005 onwards, GC's only came as a permanent 4x4 with Quadra-Trac II in RHD. The USA ones were different because they weren't built by Mercedes, but within the USA.
If you have no boost read and see fit you have a fault for inlet swirl flaps it may also bring fault up for turbo actuator they both use same feed the turbo actuator common to fail 👍and shorts out as does inlet swirl motor normally the orange ring in air pipe is over tighten and oil leaks on to to swirl flap actuator and fills with oil and kills it 👍also common for oil cooler seals going hard need to upgrade to purple one 👍
Hi Joe I think that back wiper clips in because the tailgate is split fold. Also that back inside floor is like that so if you are carrying something dirty or that could damage your carpet you simply turn the cover over. Enjoyable video. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
That is verrry tidy and I want it. Good video Joe, its nice to see the good and the bad of the trade. That sorrento will be bother my friend had one and it was the biggest headache ever.
I had as 2010 3.0 v6 Merc engined GC, loved it but fuel economy pants after chipping it. We have had 3 Jeeps in total and still run a Cherokee fiat engined 2.1td
I owned a 5.8l hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee 05 plate, which was a beast. It really was quick. However, the mpg was not good, so we converted it to run on lpg as well. Great when lpg wasb39p per litre howeverbthe price soon went to 80p per litre so had to let it go.
Hello Joe. Wow, this is a very well-looked-after Jeep, for 2006 anyway. The Interior is quite nice. I wouldn't mind spending time in there, lol. Nice TV screen, very cool. Shame about the front screen. This would be a Wicked towing machine. It can't end up back at "The Farm" lol. 3.0L. Joe, I can't fault this Jeep, bro. 👌💯😂😂🇮🇪 P.S £2500 is about right, Joe
Drove and sold loads of Cherokee, Grand Cherokee of all gens, this one was a revalation after the previous gen, then I'd take aan X5 in part ex and realise the difference in engineering and quality control. Saying that, this vs a 1k X5...Russian Roulette right there!
While you have made 900 on this deal, if you're going to spend money and time on the part exchange that will add to the cost, so be careful not to double count time/profit.
That’s a bargain for £1000 Loved my grand Cherokee…3.0 CRD is a really good engine, watch out for oil cooler seals and swirl flaps and you’re good to go. Overland is also a really high spec
Be worth buying if you get disability as you dont pay road tax. Nice big boot for a wheel chair / scooter. Seems like perfecf car especially being an auto.
Definitely worth buying in disability. A lot of people don't think about that. I'm disabled. Any ideas if what bargain expensive suv i could buy with high ved tax because I get it free?
It’s been abused for about 18 years so it doesn’t surprise me I’m afraid. It’s not a Limited is it? Thats the one with leather and a good stereo. At least it’s not a Ecoboom or ingenium power plant
That's exactly the type of answer that I was expecting to get from you, a spoiled little brat who lives out of daddy's wallet and you give car dealers a bad name by ripping people off and belive me I'd never recommend you to anyone you should close the door

As you have noticed lots of Mercedes parts where used on these including the engine, it was the Mercedes Daimler Chrysler era! 😊
Overland is the highest UK spec.for these (WK) Grand Cherokees. Merc.om642 3.0 V6 turbo D. Mated to a Merc.NAG1.auto.box.

Intake runner flaps motor dies or rod fall off. Whilst it's off do the oil cooler seals , glowplugs etc etc etc. Do it once and property.
I recently found this out. I thought it was engine, transmission, no different tyre brands on the front and back..
4 tyres later 👍
Don't worry about black oil in a diesel, if you change the oil ,it will go black straight away.
Got the Mercedes 2.7cdi at that milleage check the 5th injector one right at the back they suffer from Black Death 💀 the injector seal gives out. 👍

That Kia part exchange will be a nightmare with 160 thousand and bad MOT history, should have sold it for the asking price ...

Very nice, I like! I would have probably held out for a cash sale or better p/x just because you fixed all the issues. Like the reviews 👌🏻
In the States presently these would be about ten grand,,,most Chevys i know have release button if you remove trim or seek hole below ignition slot,,,
The ‘sensor for parking sensors’ on the dash is for the Air-conditioning, its call a azimuth sensor that detects the angle of the sun 👍
I like it. It comes from a period when cars still had distinctive styles and didn't all look like yet another SUV.
Om642 diesel engine, black death can be an issue from the injector seals, hesitation at light throttle is a very turbo vane failure on these
Like the new watch, what is it? Keep up the good work 👍
Hi Joe, when you were taking the jeep in on treadin would you not have taking it for a drive before you take it as a tread in ?????
