My son purchased a Timber calf (a calf that was born and grew with the cow) and when we got him unloaded and one of our sons decided to peak into the barn and see the new steer. The steer charged me to get out of the barn and in the process I got three ribs broken and well skinned up. Safety is always the best policy when dealing with animals. That steer weight over four hundred pounds and was shy of humans.

Here in MId Missouri we have a small herd of Highlands. During our vetting day this early Spring, one of the newer cows was separated from her little bull calf. She panicked, ran though the gate and horned my husband in the chest. It took 3 weeks for those bruises to heal. We have two cows that aren't Highland, one Angus, one Beefmaster. The Angus had a boy, who is now a steer and he is called 'T-bone". That combo should be pretty good in the freezer. Our Beefmaster cow had a little heifer calf, she already has a large udder and we hope to milk her someday. She looks exactly like a fuzzy Herford, with a white face and far more hair than her dam.

Love that beautiful herd. Coming out of the bushes like “all your ducks in a row”. Lol. I’m still hoping that Frank the Tank from Adler Farms/Chad Doss is a black Highland like that one of yours. Gorgeous animal, all of them.

You could use a come along to shift that fence post back into place and attach the come along to a tree behind it, if you own that land the tree is on of coarse. 💖💖🙏🙏💖💖

Calves are due 283 days after insemination, if pregnancy occurs. Quick estimation calculation subtract 3 from the month and add 7 dayd to the day. Example: insemination on 9/23/2023 -3 months +7 days = 6/30/2024 approximate due date.
