Hey Chris I have one. It deflects the air off the rear to stop wind buffering in your back. It doesn’t help the rear passenger that much they will get hit with the wind in the front just a little because the driver will deflect some of the wind off the passenger. If you have a +4 windshield like I have the wind doesn’t bother the both of you while cruising. Also a safety factor that’s good is when a car or truck headlights hits you in the rear the deflector acts as a mirror to the rear driver and they back off of you giving you much needed space on the road. Overall I love my airfoil.
I installed this exact same wind deflector on my 2009 and my wife hated it!!! Said it created way more turbulence around her head then when it wasn't on the bike. She rides with me everywhere I go on the wing so had a good idea of what it was like before/after installing it.
Chris I like the one I got on my bike looks good and yours does too. The only thing I got against it when I’m riding by myself my back stays cold from the air flow coming back on me. Have a blessed day brother that’s my comment.
Hello Mrs. Caliente !! Great to see you out with Chris on the Gold Wing! Y'all enjoy and always remember "Winners never quit and quitters never Win" God Bless and Keep Y'all !! jp
My wife wears a neck gaitor, it goes around her neck and it keeps her very warm, she feels no air hitting her neck and it doesn’t go up inside her helmet either. I wear one during the winter months.
I noticed in a lot of your videos you ride a lot in left lane even when your not passing anyone. Why? Here in the Northeast it’s stay right except to pass. Besides that I enjoy your videos.
Marvin Johnson I agree. It’s a good way to get into trouble with other traffic that might want to go around. It’s also a way of being courteous to others that we share the road with. Left lane is for passing! Ride safe and courteous! 😜
Hi Marvin I ride in the left lain also on my goldwing I'm also in North east.but your right it's for passing but i do it mostly because the right side is mostly in and out traffic
Riding in the left lane allows for a much smoother ride on a motorcycle due to the fact that often times, the right lanes have ruts and low spots in them where the big rigs have worn out the pavement unevenly due to their weight... The left lanes are flatter and smoother and therefore much safer for motorcycle riding... Especially here in the Southeast... Passing lane laws are the same but bump that... I'm riding where I feel safest... ☺
lol, your wife is like mine... low interest on the wing/car stuff. The rear air deflector does work with the air buffeting that comes over the windshield and loop back. You should notice the difference when she's not on the bike too. Of course wind direction can play a big part too. I can tell the different a lot more while riding at higher speed because the elements are more pronounced. Lastly it looks good and makes me feel good to look at my bike. I don't have as much stuff on this bike as I did last wings but it looks how I like it. Ride Safe
Hi to the first lady and you Sir Glad you 1st lady is out with you on the trip. She's a person of few words in all the videos I've seen Please enjoy this moment in time. Be blessed. Jones
It looks great. You are not a follower you’re a leader. Whatever your wife thinks it’s her opinion. Everyone always have positive or negative thoughts about mods and attachments. Do what you have to do to be safe and also the comfort of your wife.
In looking at the wind on your shirt, and the wind on her shirt, it appears the driver windshield redirects air around you. Her shirt has more wind rippling on her shoulders and arms. The airwing is not visible from the view of the camera to be projecting beyond the number 2 rider at any part. I am unable to ascertain what effect it has on the dead air space behind the number 2 rider. It would truly be interesting to see the effects in a wind tunnel test. That and the comparison of raising the front windshield a little when there is a number two passenger to raise the deflection to where it is over their helmet. I always did this to keep the rear rider from getting buffeted on their face and helmet. Good article addressing questions and good conclusion. Keep up the good work.
Biggest pro: visibility Biggest con: it's not practical, I cannot see how it's supposed to deflect air hitting you in the face while it's on your back. It's like saying a backpack is going to protect your chest.... It doesn't look bad though. I say get 2 more for the sides long enough to connect to the front and back ones... Fill it with water and look like a fish tank on wheels lol...
NoWordsNeeded 1000 You probably know...The concept of the air dam is supposed disrupt the air flow that comes up & over the windscreen then immediately drops and swirls around the riders.
Road Glide yea I can see how that would be the selling point, but she said she is still getting wind to the body or neck in her words. Maybe if it was a "U" shape that theory could be plausible. But I do like the way it looks and has a nice safety factor.
Wish I could put that on my F6B (Even though I do now have a removable Trunk). That thing looks Really Cool and Safety. Hey Chris do they have a Tinted version? Would love to see it at Night. Job Well Done!
It seems it would reduce the wrap around wind of the front windshield that the passenger would feel pushing or buffeting on their back especially at freeway speeds. You can best see this wrap around air effect coming from behind when riding in the rain. Would like to hear from a passenger that rides a lot more often to get a before and after. The led lights are a nice touch to. Nice job Chris ;) P.S. Did I miss a vid on all the trailer lights? Did you post one?
Say Chris, you know that, they have road hazard for Motorcycle Tires; Cycle gear has it for $25 per tire and Bike Bandit has it for $65 per tire. I guess they are giving road hazard on tires, since Texas Cowboy says he is never going back.

I could not have said it better myself, my sentiments exactly.
Thanks for that input.

I really want one!!👍😎✌🏻♥️🇺🇸AWESOME BIKE MAN!!! 🔥
Nice to see you both
My understanding on that deflector is to reduce buffeting coming in and banging on your passengers head from the wind whipping around from the rear ..
Does the rear air foil (when not riding two-up) cause any wind drag when riding the bike?

Dwight Hobbs that’s good information

Oklahoma now has left lane passing only law, fyi

Thanks for the review on this deflector, Chris.
I think it's great especially the way u have the lightning connected as well..Visibility is very important. Thumbs up!

wondering if it catches more wind riding solo
Will your motorcycle cover still fit over the bike with the airfoil.???
thomas salley I need to check my calculations, that’s a very good point
The rear air foil looks slick bery nice i habe to tell u again your intro is killer u did a great job on it thanks
Big bo from LA
I would definitely get one if I had a full wing. But I have jr F6B

I like it so much that I ordered one.
Still waiting on mine
I took me about 3 weeks because it came out of Russia.
@@chriscaliente5033 I had my name put on mine hope it's done right
It looks like it (foil) and the trunk handle flash real fast with just the running lights on.
Brother chris it looks nice and you did good job don’t listen to some people good job brother 👍👍
I totally agree 100%.
What is that blue light on your left speaker? I don't believe I have seen a video on it.
Tim Cade its a voltmeter by Electrical Connection here is the link electricalconnection.com/index.php/product/honda-gl1800-f6b-digital-voltmeter-2006/
Looking Good Gold wing
Chris at least it looks good. I was never convinced it was worth using it other than looks and visibility.
A big thanks to the First Lady for her opinion.
We don’t want to feel the wind, why are you on a motorcycle?
Love it
Wish I could put that on my F6B (Even though I do now have a removable Trunk). That thing looks Really Cool and Safety. Hey Chris do they have a Tinted version? Would love to see it at Night. Job Well Done!
Hello brother goldwing to me this product looks like a safety sign and a wind dam at the same time you must feel some wind buffet riding one up
Not at all.

a better test would probably be in the rain.

It do look good.
Just a decoration piece in my opinion
Rob Craft I agree. What a waste of money.
@@lockandloaded6218 I like it, that all that really matters, it works for me but thanks for watching.
Thats true it looks good, doesnt matter if it blocks the wind.
Yep it's like putting whip cream on cake.
Chris Caliente yep.. it does look good brother
Do you ever take that helmet off?
Lol
Hope you did not take her home before treating her with a meal for being a test subject..
You are correct Pete, I cut out the part going out to lunch.
Why she don't have gloves on,come on Safety First.
Trust me, your preaching to the choir, she put them in the trunk.
you look like a Christmas tree lol nice job
My opinion.. buy an open car.
OMG that is so ugly, sorry man i think it looks terrible
Thanks for the compliments.
