You've done some additional mods that I haven't seen yet. Impressive. I'm sorry to see the corner mods didn't work out because the stickers wouldn't hold. That seems like such a good mod. I'm wondering how others are fairing that tried the same mod?
Hello, I have been looking to upgrade my old camo Duplex with zip. Great to see someone who have done this. Can you give me more information about your modification ? Thanks you !
Have an couple year old duplex and would love to do the zipper mods on both sides. Excellent upgrades. Any specs on the zipper and any advice (thread type etc). Also any close up of the clasp set up at the bottom of the zipper. All would be appreciated
I think I need to do a part 2 showing finer detail mate! The zip is Military grade strength. Quite heavy and chunky but I didn't want to be revisiting it at any stage. The clip at the bottom is readily available from Amazon etc. But try and get nylon rather than plastic as it's much stronger.
Just found your channel last night, only had time to watch this video. I've had a hankering for a zpacks for a while and the only thing that has stopped me are the doors. Now then, after seeing your mod I'm thinking of getting one (and trying mod I won't not good enough will have to source that out.) would be interested in see more about this mod for the doors please. Outstanding work.
It's a MASSIVE modification mate! Plus it was a bit of a gamble as to the end result! Having said that. It has improved the tent IMHO. If I was you. I would look at the dyneema tents already with a zip mate 😉 But, if you're adamant. I will help where I can 😊
@@mickfitzvalleyandhill I have a duomid dcf, but I have a zpacks inch that needs to be scratched. I've looked at others but still come back to the duplex.
@@mickfitzvalleyandhill one easy modification that I am going to make that I didn't see in your video is adding a slack top line between the pole cups to hang laundry, etc from. I will then remove the shock cord from the bath tub floor that attaches to the fly and attach it to a bit of longer shock cord that attaches to that slack top line. The intention being to make sure that the bathtub floor pulls slightly more inward and can't stick out and catch water
Been looking a long time for someone who has added a zipper to their Zpacks tent. I want desperately to learn more about this modification. Would love to see a more in depth video on the steps involved, however, more information would be greatly appreciated.
@@mickfitzvalleyandhill Thank you. My wife and I are considering a Zpacks Triplex but we are not so thrilled about the nonn-zip doors. Your zipper solution may be our solution. Thanks.
@@edolson4186 I must say that the doors function well without the zips. I had it like that for a few years in all kinds of weather. So don't let the zips be a game changer for you 😉
Hello Penny. It will be difficult to do a step by step video now. What I will do is do some close ups of the zips. I must say that it's a very serious modification! But if you can sew you should be ok 👌
You have done a great job , with your mods , I do understand why but why didn't u go for a dynmena tent with the zip etc... but great job and so glad it works for you as that's what's its all about . I love my zpzcks duplex
I've had it a few years now mate. It's been a great tent. The door always felt 'clunky' to me, so I changed it 😊 Maybe I should have researched the subject more 🤔 ... but I've got the tent I've always wanted now 😉
Nice video. Thank you for sharing. It would have been nice if you had filed the way that you add the zip to the tent.

Interesting looking tent. Great mods. Cheers!

What size shock cord are you using, I've ordered 3 and 4 mm so I can do a couple of mods on the lanshan
Thanks for the comments Chris. I used 3mm shock cord. HTH 🤞
