So there was me thinking, after watching your first Drumeo vid, "yeah, he's about the same standard as me..." ... then I saw this.... and weeped... Thanks for doing this channel. You're making the vlogs that I had considered doing myself (I'm also lifelong multi-instrumentalist/artist/composer that kinda sucks at a bunch of things...). So thanks for saving me the work. Subbed. Thumbs up. Liked. Great stuff, man!
hahaha this was about 3 days of learning to get a grasp on that small snippet of the song :P. Definitely a huge mind bender. I bet you could do it if you wanted to as well :) Thank you, I'm glad you're liking the videos. Thanks for coming along for the ride with me!
Sick AF 🔥 lol so relatable, I play guitar but get those dad duty moments just as you are working out the mind boggling riff and the muscle memory is finally getting there. Glad to see you nailed it!
It's one thing to create a groove like that and quite another to try to copy it. Gold stars for even trying, much less succeeding! Back to my paradiddle practice.
I always search Matt Gartska and filter for current week, because I find little effin gems like this. Hard and good work my friend. Must be tough keeping practice with the family life. Very admirable.
Wow! What kind words, thank you for them 🙏. Practice is definitely spotty, but I’m lucky enough to have a wonderfully supportive wife who encourages me to play. And gracefully puts up with hearing the same rhythms over and over again haha. I just checked out some of your videos, I love the passion you put into the drums! How long have you been playing?
Awesome man! Have you considered flipping the stereo (or video) for audible continuity? (For example, from our perspective the hats are on the right and I'm hearing it left) Overall, sick cover dude!
Thanks man, it was definitely a mind bender! And That’s a really good point. I have considered it, I use a drum sample program called BFD3 in conjunction with the electric kit and it has this whole virtual drum kit in a virtual room with virtual mics. The Overhead “mics” are a stereo pair and they’re oriented with the hats on the left, so when I mix the hat “mic” to the right, I get phase cancelation with the overheads. I’m sure there’s a way to flip the overheads though, I just need to spend the time to figure it out :P.
I'm sure you'll hit the sweet spot but I'd say, don't do it in your DAW. When you have your final mix out and ready and you hop into you NLE (editing software) to sync the video to the audio, flip the stereo on that track or, if it sounds weird, just flip the video horizontally. You wouldn't believe how many big "hollywood" productions just flip a few clips horizontally for screen direction or other kinds of continuity.
Bro damn. The fact that you consider this "kinda" is crazy. Really good stuff!
Haha thanks. Watch his video and you’ll see the “kinda”

It’s kinda like an Umphreys McGee cut! Love it!

Thank you! Haha and yeah, the dad vibes are strong. Definitely an added layer of challenge and motivation all at the same time. 😂

I have no idea how he does it. I’m Definitely practicing my paradiddles as well :P
How do you find the hi hats on that kit ? Have been eyeing this kit as an upgrade from a dm 10 kit
I’m not sure, I bought the kit as a complete package from sweetwater, so the hi hats came in the box.

That’s awesome! Keep it up! There’s kind of nothing more cathartic than playing the drums 😊.
