That "double kick stutter" drum transition at 2:34 is so sick. Holding off on the cymbal work until that fat snare is smacked. Beautifully done Matty boy 👌
Perfect little ditty. The cymbal hits so hard because of it.
I just wish they did this a littttle more often in their song. They toy with us plenty but I'd listen to this 3x more if they provided just 2 or 3 more hits of relief in their songs.

Dancers to a discordant system 😉
The choreographer for this video is God tier at his job. Amazing!
And the performers as well they must have put a lot of effort in practice to get this right.
Her, I think.
If I am not mistaken, the word "Monomyth" was coined/crafted by James Joyce in Finnegans Wake (perhaps the most impenetrably esoteric book known to man) and was repurposed by mythology scholar Joseph Campbell to talk about the journey of departure and return undertaken by heroes throughout world mythology:
"The standard path of the mythological adventure of the hero is a
magnification of the formula represented in the rites of passage: separation-initiation-return: which might be named the nuclear unit of the monomyth" (from The Hero With a Thousand Faces)
Is it any coincidence that this catchy little tune has elements from all previous AAL releases? From the manic thumping of Madness, to the melodious epicness of Joy, to the dreamy and unnerving electronic textures of Weightless and, of course, the absurdly mindblowing shredding of the eponymous 1st album? It's all there: snippets from the cycle of the AAL discography, mixed together into a whole new brew of sonic deliciousness...
Looking forward to the album!!!!
Hmm interesting. Are these books you've yourself read or read about?
@@Waltzhybrid92 well I have a feeling very few people have actually "read" FInnegans Wake haha, though I have dabbled in reading a few passages here and there, just outa curiosity (check out the first few pages and you'll see what I mean lol)

@@karmakramer100, don’t forget Tosin and Javier though. The guitar work on this song is several leagues above their previous work. And that is REALLY saying something.
Matt and Damom Che forever changed the way I think about drums. More so Matt, since he was the first technical drummer I heard, but Damon Che, (with the help of his oh ther bandmates of course), forever changed the face of mathrock. @Nick Morelli Please help me understand the rhythm and meter of this song. I'm going a little crazy listening to this over and over, desperately trying to understand lol
They won't say no because of the implication (of triplets)
@@MikeyJBlakeJR best way I can explain it is go to the count in at :22 seconds in. Hes accenting quarter notes on hi hat which might help you feel where the pulse is.. you can count 9 quarter notes for the whole phrase which is why I said 9/4. *Most* of the song follows this model... the accented rhythm that guitars play throughout the song and what the bass drum mimics are groupings of 5 and 7 (sixteenth notes), if you place that in a quarter note framework .. 5+ 7 + 7 + 5 + 5 + 7 = 36 sixteenth notes = 9 quarter notes.. the problem is when the drums come in he actually modulates to playing every three notes instead of 4 on the hats which I don't know what that "signature" would be.
