It amazes me just how relaxed Tosin’s fretting hand seems even while playing such complex expressions. Only time my hands get that relaxed while playing is at the beginning of “Nothing Else Matters”. That must be at least part of why I suck...
Imagine some science fiction dungeon crawling game with various djent artists for the soundtrack. This is like the normal moving around one. If combat hits then it switches to something like Periphery. In a cutscene, invoking feelings of wonder would be easy with a band like ERRA. Feelings of intensity? Architects, Thornhill, Northlane. Want some horror? Loathe or Polaris would do the trick. So many possibilities...
I think Polyphia would win that contest. They actually have interesting hooks and playing. This sounds like less impressive song from An endless sporadic.
I can only imagine and hope that some of those kids learn how to play this type of instrumental music when they get older. Way to go Animals As Leaders, you surrounded kids with this sort of technical musicality and showed them it's more than just notes, it's an emotion.
I get really bad anxiety. Then I found Animals As Leaders. When ever I get really anxious, I put my headphones in and play them. It may sound kind of crazy, but their music calms me down. I’m so thankful for finding out about them. Thanks, AAS, for your wonderful, beautiful music.

The average person doesn't know the amount of musicianship that goes into this type of music. I've been a drummer for almost 40 years now and I really dig guitarists that let the drummer lose and let the drummer's individualism come out. Kudos to this band!!
I'm not ashamed to say: I only met this wonder in 2022 and on the recommendation of a Russian who told me about prog metal and djent ...the sound of these guys is incredible, JM Jarre with Satriani, Fripp with Steve Howe....I became a fan instant

Yeah, it has polyrythms and polywhatever shit, but it doesn't have any of the unoriginal, and frankly, annoying discrepancies of the clean, screamed, and auto-tune vocals, along with those boring-ass riffs. Tesserac and Periphery are a-ok, seeing how they invented the sound, but all the low-quality copy-cats really dominate the "genere". For my part, I'd like to pretend that those bands don't exist, so Tesseract and Periphery are some Meshuggah-influenced mathcore bands. It's not the djent community rejecting AAL, it's the prog comunity rejecting the djent label.

You would think AAL is mostly for music nerds etc - but out of all the shows I've been to (a lot) the absolute craziest crowd was the AAL crowd, specifically during this song. People were going absolutely nuts and the floor was noticeably moving up and down a few inches in time with the beat. It was nuts, I couldn't believe it.
