German for "shape decomposition" or Gestalt decomposition", is a type of visual agnosia and is a psychological phenomenon where delays in recognition are observed when a complex shape is stared at for a while as the shape seems to decompose into its constituting parts. In plain terms, if a subject reads or hears the same term over and over, that term ceases to have any meaning.
Holy shit, that's what this means? I have a memory of dissociative-ly staring at a toy firetruck for like 20 minutes when I was like 7 years old (heavy boredom I guess..? Haha.) and it just stopped making sense spatially/contextually as a firetruck to my brain for a couple of minutes - was just this strange red, black and white form that I stopped understanding. It's probably happened a couple of times since, but never so intensely. Never knew it was a phenomenon. Thanks for the definition!
@@will4282 ya that's from wikipedia and the 1st recorded phenomenon was a guy staring at an actual truck and it disintegrated after getting injured in the head. You can read about it from that Wiki entry.
How does staring at a funky physical shape until realizing that it's made up of many parts, have *anything* related to hearing a term over and over again til' it loses meaning?..
Amazing composition, clean yet complex and has that incredible AAL style that's both powerful and beautiful all at once. Making a custom Clone Hero chart to this right now; it's just too appropriate :)
I gotta say, I think my favorite Animals as leaders songs are the ones that Misha has had some kind of hand in helping create. Whole new album is great. My favorite song by them is Another Year, and this song kinda feels like it's channeling that melodic energy just a bit.
Ever since I heard this song, I always thought the part starting at 2:10 sounded like something Misha would write and seeing your comment solidifies my thought lol
feels like a soundtrack to a man-made apocalypse. i felt things...feel things. alive in an era of so much abundance. alive in an era of so much waste. alive in an era that will likely never been seen again. wondrous. excruciating. it's everything.
The way that part progresses is absolutely incredible, I'm lost for words. The choice of notes, the chord progressions, everything being backed up with the unique ambience that AAL provides.. It defies description
My favorite one of the album. It incorporates all their styles throughout the years, from their self titled album contained in the bridge, the joy of motionesque intro (woven web style herta), the fresh guitar sounds of madness of many and the electronic drum elements of Weightless. 🤗
love the epic bit like everyone here, also have to mention 3:57-4:05 is so fucking crushing with the way the background chug fits into the drums, instant planet annihilation vibes
Finally an album from them that rivals Tosin's original self-titled. Incredible. Had to repeat "Red Miso" 10 damn times before I finally made it past to this and I'm continually blown away.
I thought that too, until about a month ago I decided to give other albums another go. The Joy of Motion and The Madness of Many is actually on par with their first album. They just take some time to comprehend.
@@yurikrupin6907 I don't even think the albums can be compared. They are all so different in style. Each album has a different feel and with each album comes growth and experimentation. Obviously there are similar elements strewn across their discography, but each album is a different mood or genre.
@@ericthorpe5670 So much this. Albums 1 (tosin solo project with misha on drums, production, maybe some riffs) 2-3 are quite distinct stylistic works with different drummers on each. 4th again really felt distinct and cohesive on all members parts especially matt really coming through. This album feels like a welcome return to some elements of 1 and 4, and getting Misha back on producttion is icing on the cake.
Guys you smashed it with this album, I have been hyped for so long for the album drop. You guys totally delivered with these tracks! Europe tour soon pls :)
I've been listening to this album ever since it came out but honestly the reason for me to return to it is the absolutely massive part starting from 02:53... While they would sound epic in any context I think there's something so very special and powerful about chord proggressions like this one played on a downtuned electric guitar that couldn't be matched even by an orchestra...
Hes eclipsed everyone. Hes an alien. Hes not one of the best, he is it lol. And this comes from a drummer myself who is well versed in tool, intronaut, etc. I know drummers.

I saw them perform this live last night, you felt a blast from the breakdown at 2:53 like it was like getting body slammed by music and emotions, same thing for the slow thumping part in physical education I felt a sonic boom. Seeing animals as leaders was a beautiful experience then Devin Townsend came out and kicked ass too.
Saw these guys last week for the 5th time - loved the setlist and the energy was incredible, as always. I was a little bummed they didn't play this one. My favorite off of the album - hopefully next time!
I really want to know if Tosin was listening to Covet during the writing of this album. Some of this song has crazy Yvette Young vibes i.e. 1:30 - 2:05

God that intro making me tear up, the tone, the context, the note choice. The placement. It's all just so Incredible
Before the outro riff, it felt like they realized they had 500 more notes to play in under 30 seconds.
