I'm amazed at how many updates have been added to the game since I first got it, and how many more continue to come out!! Some thoughts: the storage tile seems obsolete other than being used as a sign or in spacecraft, because 1000kg for one tile of space is superseded by the storage bins themselves being 2 tiles tall but storing 20t of material. The changes to critters is incredibly welcome, and encourages smaller, compact ranch building to be viable without exploits (something I've been wanting for a long time). The changes to Pacus are welcome as well. I always thought they ate way too much algae so only ever fed them seeds, and tended to restrict their diet quite harshly. Now you have to interact with them more. More critter interaction is always a plus in my books. I love the dehydrator/rehydrator concept, and it ties in with the astronaut theme of Spaced Out really well. And the database shows food recipes? FINALLY.
point of note the biobot can build building but much like the rover can only do so for building that require tier 1 research so it is still no better than a rover but its isnt worse
Still, it is pretty useless at this point. Since the only benefit is ability to work with extreme temperatures, but it is necessary only in late game when not having the ability to dig solids and build advanced buildings doesn't cut it. I think bots have to be better than duplicants in more scenarios. I think it would be cool if they were dedicated field workers with lvl2/3 digging and building, so they could almost fully replace dupes in hazardous environments. Or fly/swim or something else.
300 steel is way too expensive imo, but if they make them cheaper later, I hope the robot gets more usefulness; the only positive thing it has right now is the heat resistance against magma (dupes can work in magma with a spacesuit on, but only for a limited time, and ending really hurt) but the most relevant would be the dehydrator (which should really be called a packaging unit) I was wondering if there would be a better way to keep food fresh for longer other than using a -20° handmade freezer, or space food diet only (muckroot or berry sludge). Other ideas usually come from mods, like insulated doors and proper airlock doors (that don't use liquids)
That’s absurdly expensive. If we had a recharging station for bots, they’d actually be worthwhile. High upfront material cost but longterm you get access to a temp-immune pawn for collecting material & basic mining. Seems good enough at that point.
