OG gamer here, I’ve been taking apart my ps controllers since ps1 90s and it’s crazy to see how less durable the newer systems are. PS1 controllers were like Nokia phones you could not break them. Now 4 gen and they are a fragile as a egg.
Complexity they say, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make it fucking work properly making the issues stay at 1%. Some companies just slack off with the design since they think complexity means they can’t work on it properly
For all the people wondering, why does this happen to your PS4 Dualshock 4 Controller? Why does it do this every few or months or month? Well. You have to care for your controller daily. Dust particles can build up in the analogue and clog the analogue sensors and sticks. From my Point of View, I haven't been playing on my PS4 much. Until one day I decided to play Warthunder on my PS4. My Controller started to drift, which made me very angry as it lessened my fun and experience of game play. Here is what I do now daily for my Controller and PS4. 1. Pull up your PS4 Dualshocks analogue sticks and blow onto the sides as hard as you can, to get all the dust particles out from the analogue. Feynluo It has nothing to do with thrashing controllers (although that doesn't help). Not once have I ever raged to the point of breaking my controller yet I have had this stick drift issue three times with 3 different controllers. My first controller lasted me like 2 years before it got that drift problem, after that the second lasted about 3 months and the most recent controller only 1 month before failing to the same problem. The PS3 controllers never gave me this many issues. I keep my controllers clean too so either Sony is completely incompetent or they're purposely placing imperfections in their controllers so they can sell more of them at the sweet 60€ mark

Yeah but that's not always the best for all games r6s for example you don't want to have your deadzones turned up so that you can turn on a dime and better control recoil.

This was before I turned off the Mic. Also don’t forget to permanently turn off Siri or Cortana or Alexa, if you have any of those around your house or on your device. They are basically recording you all the time. 👍

Same, usually I just blow into the side of the stick into the controller, and hope that maybe it changes something inside. Also you can change the deadzone on some games
Its all pretty easy actually. Have opened up my controller more then ones to replace bits in it. There are no attempts made what so ever to make it difficult for people to do so. Yes offcourse its all a tight fit, everything is small and close together but you don't want a bulky controller neither. Hope they keep doing that for the PS5.
i literally made a whole new controller, new front and back shell, buttons, triggers, joystick, touch pad... everything i changed and it works fine. it is starting to drift so ima try this out
Thanks for the tip. I bought two controllers last fall and used them for barely a month and the drift problem started for both controllers. The reset button worked fine for one and for the other was the 30-5↩-5↪-30. Both controllers are back at 100. Test ran them on Outer Worlds. Now im not fighting against my guy running towards the left while looking up by himself. Cheers again!
Completely the opposite for me! Every single controller I've ever had at least eventually started to drift.. as well as EVERY friend I've ever asked about it had the same issue. I LOVE PlayStation, but they make shiddy quality controllers☹️
Mine only does it when viewing maps on all my games, like death stranding, spider man, resident evil 2 & 3. But my aim and everything is fine, just when map viewing.

My left joystick sometimes like in game stays moving like when going through inventory in minecraft or when im playing gta 5 the same joystick sometimes im going to make a turn and it only moves a little or isn't responding at all
The best way to fix it is to take the analogue stick apart and just clean inside the green cage (black ring) thing with alcohol. Worked for me and my controller is just over a year old.
Controller sticks always have some extremely tiny variances of their "neutral" position. Manufacturing is never 100% perfect but is (or should be) 99.99% perfect, and of course wear and tear over time. By tiny variances, I mean something like 3% drift from true center (0%). Vast majority of games never start their dead zone at 0% so we never notice. Games like Borderlands 3 that let us adjust this down to 0% in the game's settings can let you know if your stick actually has drifting. My God of War edition controller drifts a very, very tiny bit :(
@@zakariaelkhadiri369 You can also reset the controller, and turn down the dead zone in your settings. Turn it down to no more than 10. I ended up getting a scuff controller lol I forgot about this until you had commented. I hope it works out for you!

This unfortunately didn't work for me BUT I found a way by myself!! I simply put a toothpick inside a corner of the stick and "swiped" clockwise and counter-clockwise until some dirt came off and this also worked on my first controller that I had for years which suffered from severe drift (had to clean it twice though)! I don't know if it will also work for you but I'm putting this here anyway in case it can help someone out there. (Feel free to reply if it worked for you as well hehe).

My problem is whenever im playing a game my right stick just triggers and looks to the left without me even moving it and my character just looks to the left when it happens

Its all pretty easy actually. Have opened up my controller more then ones to replace bits in it. There are no attempts made what so ever to make it difficult for people to do so. Yes offcourse its all a tight fit, everything is small and close together but you don't want a bulky controller neither. Hope they keep doing that for the PS5.

Thanks for the tip. I bought two controllers last fall and used them for barely a month and the drift problem started for both controllers. The reset button worked fine for one and for the other was the 30-5↩-5↪-30. Both controllers are back at 100. Test ran them on Outer Worlds. Now im not fighting against my guy running towards the left while looking up by himself. Cheers again!

My left joystick sometimes like in game stays moving like when going through inventory in minecraft or when im playing gta 5 the same joystick sometimes im going to make a turn and it only moves a little or isn't responding at all

The best way to fix it is to take the analogue stick apart and just clean inside the green cage (black ring) thing with alcohol. Worked for me and my controller is just over a year old.

Controller sticks always have some extremely tiny variances of their "neutral" position. Manufacturing is never 100% perfect but is (or should be) 99.99% perfect, and of course wear and tear over time. By tiny variances, I mean something like 3% drift from true center (0%). Vast majority of games never start their dead zone at 0% so we never notice. Games like Borderlands 3 that let us adjust this down to 0% in the game's settings can let you know if your stick actually has drifting. My God of War edition controller drifts a very, very tiny bit :(

This unfortunately didn't work for me BUT I found a way by myself!!
I simply put a toothpick inside a corner of the stick and "swiped" clockwise and counter-clockwise until some dirt came off and this also worked on my first controller that I had for years which suffered from severe drift (had to clean it twice though)!
I don't know if it will also work for you but I'm putting this here anyway in case it can help someone out there. (Feel free to reply if it worked for you as well hehe).
