Pretty damn close and certainly good enough.

Agreed! Even if one has a very high quality acoustic, it's not easy to get a good sounding recording.

I grabbed these and it does take some work, but, I was able to get some really good clean tones very reminiscent of Opeth's Damnation tracks. Surprised me that it sound even remotely similar.

They all sound like different tones of good clean electric guitar.

My take (about the neck pickup):
    - sounds actually very good (which is a different question than how convincing it is), it's just a much more pleasant sound than any fake acoustic guitar amp sim I've heard previously
    - I don't think I would mistake it for an acoustic guitar, at least if it's solo'd or prominent in the mix. I'm not confident I still wouldn't mistake it for an acoustic guitar if there was a video of an acoustic guitar.

I agree with all your points. It isn't a replacement for a well mic'd acoustic by any means, but better than any acoustic sim I have tried yet.

We also agree it is not a replacement for a well mic’d acoustic, but look forward to taking you through the use cases as we see them, and where they can be very useful indeed!

    - did you mute your vox mic when you play ? Hearing the acoustic sound of the electric guitar with the wet tone makes it hard to judge the sound
    - have you tried using acoustic guitar IRs ? I have heard some great stuff from the two notes opus axoustic guitar IRs

I have a reverse gate set up on the vox mic to turn off when the guitar is played. I muted the vox mic a couple times just to make sure it was working as it should. No mic audio when the guitar is played

I have used acoustic IRs with a DI acoustic guitar. I liked the results of that live. I have never used an acoustic IR with an electric guitar though. I did not think they were intended for use like that. I'll have to try it out tho

@@stevenkambach I think using a acoustic guitar NAM model like you did, but coupled with a acoustic guitar DI, might be an interesting experiment ! Maybe it will sound like dogshit, or maybe it will sound awesome :)
