You should do a collab with Speedchar, he moved to Blender for sculpting after using zbrush for over a decade, he also does livestreams sculpting characters on YT.

i love Speedchar, but i can't help feeling that his move to Blender tells us more about the market for Blender courses compared to the market for ZBrush courses than it tells us about the merits of the two programs.

Can we turn speed sculpting/modeling/any other artistic pursuit into a competitive sport like boxing or sprinting? Maybe that could be how we circumvent the AI.

Zbruh crashed twice on me today. The second one left no autosave after finishing up a decent blockout. 😓 Your elephant ear workflow was pretty cool!

just one comment on crashing. Zbrush never crashed on me, not that i can remember, maybe 1-2 time in decades. Blender on the other hand, if working with heavier models, things get very fast, very messy. Wrong setting in modifier and here you go, even with 128 GB RAM on my workstation. Everyone knows this, but somehow there is always the need in the community to justify such behavior. On the other hand, if someone does just poly modelling, stylized stuff, he will never experience such things. Just import a tight mesh 5m+ into blender, maybe some nasty booleans on it, and that's it.
Blender is very good for modelling and also sculpting, it also does nice VFX, but this makes it not Zbrush or Houdini.
As said, for stylized stuff, i see not much difference, even the lack of transpose in sculpting in Blender, can be compensated. At this stage, i would say that the best tool is, what you are best used to. What gives you a good workflow. Not anyone thinks in the same way. We have Houdini guys, which do brutal things, everything procedural and more or less without even use a 3dview. But when it goes into poly modeling, doing some non-procedural stuff, they just fail to think this way. At least on some level, which could be useful for production.
At the end of the day. it all depends on, which type of 3d modeling, sculpting you do, and what fits you best. If Blender with all the tools gets you all you need to stay in your time schedule, get things done, for free and without paying greedy maxon buku money? Fuck them and go with Blender. But messing around, wasting time with a tool, what is not 100 % suited for the job, losing customer, fuck up the project, only to say, hej i stay with open source, no money for them, is in my i opinion very stupid. If i need Maya to make things happen, then i will do everything to get this tool.

I don't know why, but in ZBrush (on my part) It tends to crash when I want to do some added details to my mesh. While Blender does freeze up at times, it does take its time to compile the polygons during sculpting sessions. I know that Blender can't handle that much high poly count . . . yet. But, I don't know. Zbrush on the other hand is really good at taking in that much poly and makes the sculpting experience smooth, IF YOU ARE WILLING TO BUST OPEN YOUR WALLET, THAT IS!!! Thank God that you mentioned that Student discount version. Ever since, I'd would find some time to practice 3D sculpting on a different software!

1 thing that zbrush doesnt have and i dont know why... ability to split screen and have each one in a diferent view point, were you can see the changes on both in real time.
Blender has this for so long and i still dont know why zbrush doesnt. And this feature is super important for sculpting.
And you also have a remesh addon (Payed) that is the same as in Zbruh... being a lot cheaper, so for me Blender wins and i use it in my job.

Blender feels more like modeling tool, while zbrush more like sculpting. Blender cant handle my 50mln verts models. Blender more stable, zbrush still crushes on knife tool and zmodeler verts stitching)

Blender is so close to zbrush now. A bit behind in performance but still usable! Wouldnt even think about to spent any money into the greedy zbrush comp. And better invest it into blender. Sadly 3dcoat turns also into the greedy direction and is no competitor to blender either now.

I’m using Zbrush core and it works much better than blender but seems it can’t sculpt more detail into things and it gives them a voxeled look
Is this limitation normal or is there a way around it?
