- Here we are with part 1 of my F1 Challenge 99-02 career! We have taken up the mantle at Williams partnering Ralf Schumacher. The continuation of this series relies on your feedback and support. I did try running with no assists and it was impossible. Hope you enjoy!

This was a great game for its time!
The pitstops in a 2002 game are better than the pitstops in a 2014 Codies game! Codemasters really need to step up their game. I'd love to see pitstops where you actually drive to your pit box back in an F1 game.
And by the way it's funny that this game has real TV Styles unlike F1 2015 :D

Mika won the 99 championship. You were right first time.
Villeneuve had a rear wing failure in 1999. So he can't seem to escape that fate

What aid do you use? What is the level of difficulty? And you would like to make available the setups of the car?

The awkward moment when the on screen graphics of a game in 1999 has better on screen graphics than a game in 2013/14! Come on Codemasters, F1 2014/15 needs graphics like real F1

Excuse the very late reply, but what is the FOV settings that you use in the config? Seems like the default ones are ugly on widescreen

You sound a lot like Martin Brundle! great game to do a play through of... I really struggle to maintain any kind of traction on this game. Re. Other cars not pitting, you need to match the fuel scaling with lap scaling so if you do a fifty percent race as you have here, set the fuel scaling to X2.

its best to go into the Ai file in the installation folder and make them all individually stop at different laps. It makes it more or feel more realistic. :)
@@King.Peanut if you go into the F1 99-02 folder, go into SEASONDATA folder, then circuits. then click on a country, say Australia, then click on a year of Albert park. say 1999 or whatever. In the 1999 Albert Park CIRCUIT file. Like Australia 1999 Albert Park folder. Theres a file called GDB file. Open THAT file with notepad and viola. Look down and you will SEE all the drivers and their qualifying lap times and pit stops for 1999 Albert park. Under PITSTOP strategies. you will see something like this Mika Hakkinen = 1 - 14

Michael Schumacher = 1 - 23
Eddie Irvine = 1 - 10
Alessandro Zanardi = 1 - 27
Ralf Schumacher = 1 - 19
Damon Hill = 1 - 13

the 1st number is how many times you want the driver to pit and the 2nd numbers are what lap you want to them to pit on. so if you put Michael Schumacher 2 - 15, 23. It means you want Schumacher to pit 2 times and on laps 15 and 23. Theyll do that in the race. If you try and just do it random you wont even remember what you put in anyway, so it will feel believable. You can do that with all tracks, all mods and tracks and all seasons. Just take note that make sure you pit 2 drivers on the same team like 2-3 laps apart.
Is there a control to change the cockpit view?
EA needs their F1 license back

I wouldn't say so with their greed. You'd probably get one driver per team where you can race as bottas and kimi. If you want to drive as Lewis or Seb, it'd probably be dlc.

How do you get the AI to pit during a race? I have never seen it done in any of the F1C races I've done (something to do with lap count?)
I know it's a late answer but I got them to pit by sky rocketing the fuel usage rating, so they have to pit for refueling

you have to raise the "racequalratio" value in each track's aiw file to make ai's race pace consistent with the quali pace. by default, their race pace is too crappy. i personally changed this value from 0.9850 (default) to 1.0200, and now it all works fine.

I know this is late, but I had this game many years ago, loved it, added the 1975 mod, tried the newer F1 games, nothing comes close to the "feel" of this game. How can I get this game again? Is it available somewhere for download? If not, can I get a CD somewhere that will run on Windows 7 or Windows 10?
The Schumacher crash is one of the best things of the game, doesent matter if the AI is the better driver or have the best car, crashes happen anyway, codemasters should bring that back

It is a bit dated but handles a bit like Rfactor since its made by the same people (ISI) :)

How did you get this game to work! I have windows 10 pro 64bit and can`t play this game! I try and run it and nothing happens.
Is the format the same on this as it is on PS2?
Ryan Bowles similar. In the PS2 version, you have to go through certain things like tests and whatnot to get your drive for the season. On the PC, there's no "career" mode as such. Just a championship mode, where you can pick a team and driver to race as.
The track elevation is unreal. Literally unreal xD

first game i ever played
Ice skating challenge this sim was,I reinstalled it and the car spins out every corner and the ffb is horrible,I remember modding the shit out of it back in the day,to get rid of the ice skate physics and better ffb but sadly all those files are long gone as well as setups.
I remember now that you have to really warm the tyres onthe starting lap before going crazy otherwise the car skates all over the place.
I own the G27,I agree the cars aren’t much fun to drive,the slightest over steer and the car slides into the wall.
Look at todays sims with proper data like iracing and they have tons more grip.
You have to remember this sim came out at a time when slidy physics were adored by simracers all because of one title,GPL,Geoff Crammond’s GP4 got a bad rap because of this craze with simracers calling the physics of GP4 like a train on rails,that sim stands above them from that era these days but that is my opinion.

Go down a gear from gear 1 and hold the accelerator.

Use compatibility mode win 98 + Run as administrator on 3D config.exe telemetry.exe as well as f12002.exe

How to change camera?
Delete, Pg Up, Pg Down, Home and End
Some keys have more than one camera.
With the camera behind the car you can zoom in and out (I use 7 and 9 numpad), and change the height of the camera (2, 4, 6 and 8 in numpad).

***** It is quite good. I recommend you to watch more of his vids because they show off the tracks and cars. This game is good though,they actually have COMPETITIVE A.I.,don't have a million and one dumb rules,have great V10 engine sounds,and best of all,MODS.
