David Croft: 10 sec not enough
Silverstone 2021: It is enough

Every single country on earth is biased towards their own sportsmen. I know, it's a shocker. Only English people aren't allowed be though apparently because ironically, everyone is biased against them..
Interesting that David Croft is questioning whether the 10 second penalty is sufficient seeing as Lando retired and scored no points whilst Max finished 5th and scored a few points….
Interesting that same David Croft was too busy celebrating Lewis’ win at Silverstone in 2021 when Lewis punted Max into the tyre barrier at 51g, only got same 10 second penalty and went on to win the race…👀
Croft did not complain then…🙂
@@obez42 max is in the wrong. Max has a ruthless reputation. When he’s under a little bit of pressure he buckles. Don’t start bringing your past pretences as I have a loads to come back on! Max was lucky he didn’t get a grid penalty too or disqualification

@@jacobfletcher3682look at you. All up in arms. A diligent little soldier aren't you. Well done.
Regulations towards driving standards have changed drastically since 21, also gotta take into consideration max in Austria was multiple offences that would eventually end in contact, lewis in 21 was a single offence with understeer but was definitely his fault (this is coming from a person who isn't a fan of both of them)
you mean when Lewis decided he wasn't going to be forced off the track by Max's aggressive driving, Max caused the accident with his own recklessness expecting everyone to move out his way. This obvious from all the incidents that Max has been involved in.
Feels like they were waiting the last 3 years for max to commit a mistake to tarnish his whole career.
Oh yes, they are loving this. Poor Lando the plucky brit victim. 🙄
Still love both Lando and Max. Excited for more battles to come from them through the season!

Max has already done this to his dirty driver rep.
@@kiki-ig8fq Demonstrably not true. Ferrari were right with Red Bull on pace at the beginning of 2022. And there have been quite a few races where Verstappen's setup was wrong, or grid penalties, or SC mixed things up in 2023 and 2024.

Amazing, they are calling for Max to get a grid drop penalty for the next race. Something they haven't even done for cases such as silverstone 21. This is wild.
As the face of F1, max should learn how to race cleanly.
Maybe if they make an example, rather than enabling a dangerous driver like in 21, then max might learn to respect his competition.

And then in the press conference after Lando was asked if he gave enough space. He said something to the effect of “I didn’t have a tape measure but I feel like I did.” What was notable is that both max and Lewis looked at each other and just started laughing.
That plus Lando’s “amateur” (his words not mine) failure to block the inside line on Max in the Austrian sprint. I think Lando was/is desperate to prove himself and prove that Miami wasn’t luck or a one off

Imagine Senna worried about reputation 😅
Had he not "ended his career" the way he did, he probably wouldn't even be spoken about today nearly as much and have the reputation he does. Prost was the superior driver of that era (out scored Senna in both of their two seasons in the same car) but because he wasn't as much of a risk taker and survived, nobody really talks about him. If Norris had approached the outside like Verstappen did overtaking Sainz in 2023 (where Sainz was in a similar position, less than a car's width from the white line) then he could have made the cut back on a tighter line. But he didn't do that because he was frustrated that he'd failed to get the position while he had the tyre advantage. Norris also needed to abuse track limits to even get close enough to pass, so I don't have any sympathy for him. Sainz or Leclerc would have handled that situation better. I don't recall seeing any battles when Norris has shown he can race.
Max is a liability, as proven across his career. Rules were invented because of how dangerous he is.
Throwing shade at Lando won't remove that tag.
@@alsayedfakhri4597 All the best drivers exploited the rules. The reason he used to move under breaking was because of how underpowered the Red Bull was. He stopped doing it when they changed the wording of the rules. We've seen hard racing between Verstappen, Sainz and Leclerc without collisions. The collisions tend to involve Russell and apparently Norris, who make clumsy moves when they get frustrated. Verstappen is often on the limit of what's acceptable, but he places his car very deliberately and under control. Norris putting him on the dirt in Barcelona isn't the way he drives. No, Lewis did not react with aggression to everything like Max has always done. The two are not remotely similar. In the first few years of Lewis's career he held his own from the first race against a multiple world champion in equal machinery. By contrast Max was bumping into other cars and crashing out in over 50% of races - recall the crashstappeb era, before other drivers just started diving out of his way for self preservation. Lando ruined the bottom of his car by himself. He had to slow down to the Pitt .
Crofty reads out the applicable rule. Then defines "irratic driving" as moving twice. Then accused Max to have moved twice.. which Max didn't do, in none of the occasions during the race. Max did move once in reaction to Lando, which is allowed (and basic racing imo). This is not Indycar.
Note also that Lando would not have been penalised for track limits in the crash incident if he would have moved a bit more to the left. That would have prevented the damage to both cars and Lando would have passed Max easily when then switching to the inside line. Lando was entitled to a full cars width (hence the penalty for Max), but it wasn't smart racing. He would have had 5 seconds in hand and could have even stayed behind Max.
Max did put Lando on the grass after the crash, which could be in retribution, but could also be caused by the damage on the rear left. Only Max knows.
Oh, and one last thing... remember Silverstone 2021? Was St. Lewis the villan then?
Gawd, there must no stupider job than being an F1 pundit. Try to remember what racing is, Damon.
Lando’s penalty occurred and what he did was prior to the incident and Lando knew that he had an automatic 5 second penalty for breaking track limits 4 times.
He was well aware of this and became even more desperate rather than taking proactive action by driving accordingly.
So the fact is that at that point Lando was 5 seconds behind when he attempted to pass.
Lando did not need to turn into Max as he had every opportunity to brake and slow his car to avoid an accident.
Sadly he chose not to because of his immaturity
People acting like there was an invisible wall at the kerbs
Lando pushed track limits when he was trying to pull on max but when he was trying to overtake he couldnt even put the whole tire on the kerb and just wants verstappen to magically disappear after the corner 😂
Lando praising Max's driving in 2021. One come together with Max and he's shedding tears in the post race interview. Lando doesn't have the mental capacity to come wheel to wheel with Max all season.
The bias is insane. Why are they now considering about Lando retirement being a factor to Max's penalty when they didn't do the same for Silverstone 2021? By crofty's logic Lewis should've been black flagged, especially at the insane speeds that it happened.
Bull. Max did that very same thing at Silverstone 21, changing course to avoid an overtake. How is that Lewis' fault???
I haven't heard it yet, but seeing Damon, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he thinks it's 100% Max's fault and 0% Lando's.
It's Damon....hard racing was never in his blood nor any driver that isn't British....specially after listening to him the past 20+ years, ironically he deleted his initial comment on social media...I'll guess someone told him to remove it before the backlash
Watch the Peter Windsor video, he got the whole spot on.
My take on the whole thing. It was exciting racing. We need more of this and less interference from the stewards, and scrap the silly rules. Before the point of contact one thing was true: Lando was about to get a 5 second penalty for track limits, so he knew that, so why for the love of motor racing did he think putting his car up the side of Max was going to end well. At best Max would come over left and then turn right to take the racing line, thus squeezing Lando. Lando would have to take to the side of the track to avoid contact, thus going off track, thus getting another track limit penalty. Lando knew that, so decided to not move and CONTACT! That was always going to happen.
Sky rubbish as always. The Peter Windsor take on it is much more impartial.

I'm pretty sure divebombing over and over was maxs modus operandi for 8 years.
Do you not see the irony when max and his fans get all upset about being on the recieving end.
Its called "hard racing" remember?
It wasn’t clever racing from either of them. They had about ten laps left with Max struggling on tyres with Norris noted for leaving track with a quicker car. And yet, instead of being patient, he ran off track in an attempt to take Verstappen over, and Max lost his cool as well. Both were at fault in that
Agreed 👍
Very well said👏. Finally someone with common sense
Completely agree. Teams didn’t inform their drivers in a timely manner, also because the stewards didn’t do a timely job. Apparently Lando had already violated these track limits four time after receiving an official warning, before the stewards finally penalized him. But just in time for McLaren to do a 5 second stop just before retiring the car.
Stewards procrastinating as long as possible to give Norris the 5s penalty for track limits. It took what, 3-5 laps for something that was obviously his 4th strike. Had they just acted in a normal and timely fashion Norris would come over the line first and be on the second step. As for the racing, jinking by Max was ugly, as was Norris' trying to bomb a corner he was never going to make. But thats racing I guess and what happened happened.
Narrative: Max is guilty and go from there...
not just "max is guilty", it's "Max is guilty and this is part of a consistent pattern of bad behaviour unique to him since he entered the sport, and he needs to be punished severely to prevent him from doing so again".
well he was at fault tho, he got a penalty so why wouldnt that be the narrative?
@@daarom3472 so much so that they created driving standard rules, based upon Max's dangerous driving. I think that says it all
@@daarom3472 But it is? Notice it's always him yet 'he's never wrong'
@@nickt4200 nice frame.
I agree Max 2015-2018 was extremely rash and caused a lot of inchidents. But ever since it's been 50/50. Even in 2021 he was crashed into more than he crashed into others.
So with your logic Damon Sir Lewis should have got more than a 10 second penalty for putting max of at silverstone
If Max left a cars width there would have been no accident, Lewis had no room on his side. duh!
@DavidJohnson-dc8lu watch again Lewis completely missed the apex in '21. Did have space. Plenty.
@@DavidJohnson-dc8lu Have you tried watching the incident with your eyes open? Lewis had loads of space.
No no no, you see he's uh... errrr, he's uh... hmmmm you see he's... well you know he's... British.
No I mean innocent, nothing to do with nationality here at all, nope, not one bit.
@marco_neil never completely missed the apex, was less than a car width from the apex, in racing it should be allowed, hownmany times in F1 have we seen drivers take a late apex to compromise their opponents?
These two certainly care about negativity towards drivers 💀
David Croft is the most biased commentator
After reading the comments I’m not even gonna bother watching .
You should watch it, so you can hear the greatest bullshit of 2024
Too many Red Bull fanboys in the comments.
Bye 👋.
Last person's opinion I want to hear is Crofty tbh
Go watch somone else then
So why you watching a Crofty video?
And nobody wants to read your opinion yet here you are
probably on the wrong channel then, cya
Watch the commentaries Peter Windsor made about this race!! May shed another light on things! My opinion is Max was one, Lando second! If Lando wants to win, he has to fight for it
Newsflash: There isn’t a rule in the Sporting Regulations that says that you ‘can’t move under braking’. There used to be, but it’s long gone.
Wish more people would understand the rules, crying about something that's not even a rule
No one is going to remembered as too feisty, that's absurd.
I mean. Schumacher? Lol

Seriously starting to think canceling my Sky subscription....they hated him from the beginning...he's a-political...doesn't get involved in woke divisive stuff or hangs out with celebs or so called good causes.... he does his own thing and don't care what people say...kudos to him!
When Max was running LH off the track, no issues, no shouting...seems like it was acceptable then... now with Lando its an issue.
It should have been an issue back then already.... but because it was LH being forced off they didnt care
Prejudice will never stop
This is almost like watching Monty Python from the old days, typical british humor.
Thank you for the good laugh, I'm sure Max will make note of your concerns 🤣😂
Also very interesting is how we’ve forgotten that one of Lando’s dive bombings forced Max off track, and had Max chosen NOT to leave the track, they would have crashed…👀
Also I didn’t hear Croft and his merry men and women at Sky F1 complain when Lando forced Max onto the grass at Barcelona…👀
If it wasn't so sad it'd be funny. Remember these people know F1, they've been in it for a minute. Underneath that thin layer of varnish? Vanity and toxicity reign.
Think you need to have a lie down mate, 3 comments in the space of 3 minutes. Max doesn't know you lil bro.
Actually he had bag's of room but over acted it to make us think that
Reminds me of the first lap of Abu Dhabi 2021…
not a good excuse !!
the facts matters , Peter Winsor's analysis is spot on , I understand fans choosing side especially the ones whom are not even legit to drive a car , the fact is that Lando's front wing hit Max's left rear tire , that's undeniable , another significant point is that Max did not steer towards Norris , I don't see the point that Max get all the negatives here , any driver moves to get the apex right
The race commentary was so much better without Croft, stay at home!
Ugh all these DTS F1 'fans' who think a single driver (Max) should be able to do what he wants without consequence and calls any truthful criticism 'bias'
Remember LH getting a 10 sec penalty at Silverstone, Max in the hospital Lewis running around with a flag and getting the win……yes you are bias. At that time only praise for for LH…..
Should have left more space then shouldn’t he?!
Yep
Don’t forget that it was Verstappen that turned out of the corner then recommitted expecting Hamilton to magically have disappeared.
If he’d given way, he’d have survived and maybe even got the cutback…
@@barksnbo3625scamilton missed the apex by a country mile. Re watch who had more space to give…
@@sammoore3687 doesn’t have to hit the apex!! He just has to have the inside line at turn in (at that time according to FIA rules)
So try again….
Can anyone here provide proof that Max actually changed his line under braking? As a spectator we do not actually see when a driver hits the brakes! Or did he simply brake his car diagonally to the racing line? Lando stayed on track with all four wheels to do exactly what - crash into his opponent?
Max covered the middle, then turned left and breaked to make the apex.
@@daarom3472I can believe you had to spell that out
Go watch Antony davidsons analysis then you’ll know
@@KJ28554 I did- he has no telemetry data. He sees the car braking diagonally and "just" assumes Max is changing his line.
@@daarom3472 Exactly what I said - the last action was braking - so no turning under braking.
Hamilton got a ten seconds penalty at Silverstone for punting Max of the track while they where driving at breakneck speed. Max ended in the wall, his car was totally ruined, Ham served his penalty and drove on to win the race. Was the penalty severe or harsh enough????
See lap 26 main race Austria 2023. Sains vs Verstappen. No issue. Max didn't steer to the left Sunday, watch his on board. Lando had room on the left, same as max in 2023 without risking a time penalty or crash. Lando has got a lot of experience in racing in the back, I hope he learns quickly how to race in the front like Verstappen, Saints en Leclerc, so we get good battles.
Yeah , it’s better to Lando focus on his driving , rather than always saying it’s gonna be win this race , 3x because I have a quicker car, always craying
Fun fact: out of all GP winners Lando had the worst DotD vs P1 record in F1. Even worse than Charles' pole to win ratio.
First Skysports F1 podcast I have tunned out of. This was one incident. And Max is was not entirely saint but. . .Wow
With out watching hill n Croft will be usual ban max he’s bad. Biased reporting. Didnt hear them roasting Norris for max spain start forcing max off
Norris one incident in Spain...Max?
How many drivers has Max bothered ontrack? Theres no smoke without fire!
Sky when lando forces max off onto grass in Spain and off the track In Austria: ☺️☺️☺️
Sky when max forces lando to put a wheel over a curb: 😡😡😡
It's funny y'all told merc fans to forget abt 21 , but you're the ones bringing it up 😂😂.
Complete British bias. They keep saying Max moved under breaking. But the rule is no dangerous driving. And Max's VERY minimal change in direction hardly amounts to 'danger'. Also this biased comment about that Max left no car-width. In Spain Norris left Max no car-width at the start. But Max avoided a collision by putting a wheel on the grass. Lando should simply have done the same. Time to add some non-British commentators to balance it out.
moving under braking and taking out two cars isn’t dangerous? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jesus you're clueless and if you watch footage from behind, then your comical description adds up to a cars width, not slightly.
You're out of your depth here junior
Let's ignore all Lando's divebombs , completely missing the corner, lets not give him a visible 5 sec penalty for 4x track violations and especially let's not tell Max about it because we want this battle to heat up.
Then ,let's talk about Max how dirty he is because he made one wrong move the last few years because we are still sore from AD21, how he should be stopped and harshly penalized while we see other drivers race in and race out do much harsher things to even their team mates (Ocon Gasly, Sainz to pretty much anyone, Checo, Kmag etc the list goes on).
This is a British Witchhunt against Verstappen because they simply dont like him and his father.
Is Damon hill literally blind now? Lando didn’t have ONE tyre on the side! Not one! So what you mean if he moves over he gets track limits!?!?!? DAMON YOU HAVE TO HAVE ALL FOUR WHEELS OVER THE LINE BUDDY!!!! This shows how dumb these people are
Unlike some, some of us in this world certainly don't like or excuse wife beating, violent thugs, abusive criminals and cheats.....now prove a single one of those statements about Jos a wrong!! He will never be welcomed or supported by anyone with an ounce of integrity!
I don’t have a dog in this fight, but can say that I much preferred it when the corner belonged to the person leading. This business of having to leave space on the outside is so counter-intuitive to racing. When I used to do club racing in the days of the dinosaurs, if you are trying to hang it around the outside and could see that there is no space, you simply backed off the throttle…. No harm, no foul. You would pressurize the guy in front and, if he made a mistake, you would pounce. If the leader did not make a mistake under pressure, then he wins the race. Things were much simpler then. As Peter Windsor said, DRS has expounded the problems in the braking zone.
"is it going to his reputation in the long run? Id hate to see that" Oh please. You'd LOVE to see that Damon. You don't like the guy its pretty evident.
Do they realize they're completely contradicting themselves re: Silverstone '21? Do they realize that it doesn't matter what the rulebook says its how the stewards choose to officiate? Do they realize we rarely ever have racing this close? Do they realize Lando made the wrong decision to not move left whether he had the right or not? Do they realize the stewards delayed a 5 second time penalty to Lando that would've avoided the whole incident to begin with? Do they realize they've lost sight of reality?
NOR lap 59, dive bombing on the inside and locking up and going off track. VER took evasive action to not get tboned from an overly aggressive overtake attempt. His premature rookie excitement made NOR unpredictable. VER wasn’t going to have that again. It was a professional foul. VER was properly booked. Time to move on. Noris’ inexperience as a front runner over the last three races exposed him as a liability.
Show the steering and braking trace. Stop this nonsense. The pressure they (British Media) are putting on the already weak minded Norris will break him by the end of the season.
only blame i have is on the race officials. If they had given Lando his exceeding track limits penalty in a timely fashion none of this would have happened. Max would have let him by and glued himself to within 2 seconds to the end. Why are we ignoring this?
Drivers get booed because people buy the narrative you sell.
'You', collectively as the media.
When you ask a driver how he feels about the booing, how do you do that with sincerity?
i wonder what the dutch media is posting about this.

You can check that yourself. Google exists.
And I don't read/watch Dutch media.
But they are surely also contributing to building toxicity.
@@shu6037 Find out what they are posting.
Also, my remark stands regardless of the person being booed. Drivers race, events happen, media weave narratives, people buy different narratives, the driver gets booed.

Thing is as professional commentators they should know the rules, a 12 year old kid would know this, sloppy journalism at it's best.
If Max is stuck in the middle of a “tug of war” between his mgrs, Horner, dad etc, he could ease some of the pressure by telling his dad to BUTT OUT and just be a dad.

Was there a space for Lando to move to, Yes.
