  • Here's the top 2 reasons you're not losing weight on a vegan diet.
    REGARDLESS of what kind of diet you're on you need to get into a calorie deficit to lose weight and there is NO guarantee this will happen when you go vegan, in fact you can actually easily gain weight.
    Want help losing weight for good?
    Book a FREE weight loss consult so my team and I can chat to you personally about how to reach your goals.

    I've lost nearly 40 pounds as a vegan after learning about calorie density and if I can do it so can you!!

    I have this irrational fear of being one of those insufferably annoying RUclipsrs who think they are funny/witty and that you just somehow hate without even knowing why, but I also have to be my weird self right?

    I’ve been vegan for 35 years. I never really needed to lose weight, but giving up all ‘free oils’ (olive oil, coconut oil), I lost 15 pounds. I still eat olives, and avocados but haven’t put the weight back. Its the free oils that were a problem for me.

    • @practicalmagic9
      @practicalmagic9 4 года назад +2

      That makes sense since eating the whole food even when oily is more sating and not just the fat extracted from it.

      Same, I eat avocado's, nut's, tahini, no way would I eliminate the healthy fats, no matter the calories....

    That's me. I fall off the wagon after a few days, and indulge for a couple days, but the damage is done. I lost about 80 lbs a few years ago, mostly on smoothies and juicing... very green, low calorie density. I have some weight to go, and it comes off quickly when I do as you say. I know it works... no mystery. I'm there again. Praying for consistency. Thanks for the 'tell it like it is' talk.

    Thanks. Grate tips. Yeah I was struggling also with reducing fat on vegan diet. But I looked nutrition data self. You can find in potatoes, green leafy greens and even fruit, little amount of fats, I mean healthy fats like omega-3 fatty acids. And it is more enough for body to function.

  • @AndNowIJustSitInSilence
    @AndNowIJustSitInSilence 4 года назад +2

    Totally agree. My weight has been going up and down (been vegan for 3 years, vegetarian for 20 years before that). I was never slim. I am losing/maintaining weight when I am exercising a lot and have a consistent diet. My main problem is inconsistency and over-eating. I have days when I don't eat much, for whatever reasons or times when I exercise every day and then I have like 5 non-active days on which I just over-eat and this circle repeats. But still, I would advise to include a little bit of healthy fat (to absorb nutrients and for omega fatty acids) and some more protein, but otherwise, yeah, more water-based veggies and be careful with high-calorie toppings and dressings (unfortunately I'm seriously addicted to tahini and peanut Butter)

THey are tiny balls made from things like dates, nut butters, shredded coconut, oats etc, so they taste amazing and are easy to make,but usually super high in calories and it's really easy to overeat on them. search it up on google to get a better idea :)

    Brava. Calories in, calories out…it counts. CALORIE DENSITY. Jeff Novick, RD.
    You do not need oil. You won’t die if you do NOT eat avocados, nuts, nut butters, tahini. I cut back (not cut out) on starchy carbs too. Lots of high water veggies. Legumes yes but I don’t eat 1.5 cups a day. I eat lower calorie fruits and not tons of it.
    If you’re concerned about your health and are overweight, the best thing you can do is lose the excess weight.

    Thank you for your insight. Yes half plate of veggies. My husband is Japanese.. Most eat half plate of veggies. Japan is learning veganism.

    I think it depends on your body type.
    My body is more mesomorph so I can eat 2,100+ calories fine. I also think eating extra vegetables is likely fine for anyone. It’s not the calories. It’s the sugary snacks and fake cheese and such. Eating too often.
    But, anyway, I’m trying to go vegan too! I’ve been vegetarian for a while now, three years.
    I’m starting by cutting out butter and cheese. And switching to a vegan creamer. 😊
    I’m looking forward to seeing what happens to my body over the next few months!

    • @ChelseaMae
      @ChelseaMae  4 года назад +8

      Hey dude, still need to be in a calorie deficit, that's what it comes down to. You can be in a deficit eating unhealthy foods, and a surplus too eating 'clean.'
      But it's much easier to get into that calorie deficit if you're eating lots of veggies and fruit.
      Body type diets are bs in my opinion and designed to confuse from understanding energy balance.

    I'm telling all the younger people, it's REALLY hard when you're my age. Your metabolism does tank. :-(

      @Evelyn Mustoe It's really depressing at 53. I ate maybe 1000 calories today and will probably gain.

      I've been vegan for a few yrs now but only recently started eating this way and I've been dropping off the kilos, I'm 52. So I think it might be consistency.

      @@saffira2010 Thank you for the hope! I'm 53. I will say that I've waffled back and forth between different versions of vegan too quickly. I'm determined to stick with HCLF long enough to see if it can fix my cruddy metabolism. I don't need to lose weight, but don't want to keep trending up either in mid life.

      @@Atheria444 I'm sure you'll do great. The hard part is to not think about the weightloss and concentrate on your health and nature will take care of the rest 😊

    1500/1800 calories are way to less - even for a women. These are numbers spreaded by the diet industry ladies, the numbers which lead us to undereating and slow our metabolism. The reason why you just can loose weight mostly with those low calory numbers is because you tried already a lot of unhealthy diets. Look at Stephanie Buttermore or Miri Curbundance. Even as a women you can and you SHOULD eat more calories to stay healthy - with a good working metabolism. Undereating, especilly with low or now fat can lead to hormonal issues and other issues caused on deficiency. We need a lot of calories for a good working body, to keep our hormones balanced, our cycle running, our digestion work, etc.

    How not lose weight as vegan?

  • @greensmoothieparty

    My mother finally had a follow up appointment with her physician yesterday morning. Her doctor has been in charge of treating Covid patients in the hospital and in nursing homes so she was not able to meet with her for the last two months.
    She had a full blood panel taken for this visit and her doctor was astounded at the progress she has made during the last year. She is now no longer diabetic and she was instructed to stop taking insulin - this change should aid her progress because insulin is a fat storage hormone and extra insulin makes it difficult to lose weight naturally. Her doctor also praised her kidney function which has never looked better. Also, she couldn't believe that her total cholesterol was only 139 and her HDL was 60 which is great. According to the Framingham Heart Study, these numbers means that she is "heart attack proof" as many plant based doctors have noted.
    Her physician mentioned that she is reconsidering the diet for her family based on this experience. All of these results are exactly what I had hoped would occur.
    Here is the menu that I had developed to try to mimic what she was used to eating -> www.greensmoothieparty.com/gsp-s-mother-s-menu.html
    While this menu is not a pure whole foods plant based diet, it appears to be health promoting enough to work for her. Health is Power!!!
