I don't really anticipate this yarn staying around for the long haul. I would rather get the same thing in a cake or skein for less money. Even though I can afford their unique concept, it feels wasteful, from the higher price to the packaging. If they could come up with a way to incorporate more yarn into the concept at that price, then I would probably be sold on it 😊
Not to mention, the larger volume probably makes it more expensive to for them to ship it to stores (since it takes up more space in a truck). So the price is always going to be a bit higher... and it doesn't really sound like enough of a game-changer to justify that.

Omg love the blanket! I won't bother trying the O Go delivery system because I don't have much of a yarn barf issue with cakes and I can cake up any skein I deem bothersom. So there is no reason for me to pay more for it. However, it does bother me that they have issued some new colors just for the O Go format. For this reason I will not even look at them when yarn shopping. That feels too much like forcing my hand...oh you can only get this color in this format. Your choice is buy it this way for a dollar more, or not buy it at all. I do love that the companies are still thinking and trying to be innovative and will never hold that against them. You gave a lovely review. Thank you.
The Bernat Blanket O'Go is the same amount of yarn as a regular skein but costs $4 more, at least at Jo-Ann online. Once again, as with every time the big yarn companies try to reinvent the wheel on packaging, I'm left thinking, eh I'd just wind that into a big cake. The only way i could see ever carrying that yarn snake around on the go would be to stuff it in an old stocking or mesh tube. It looks like one ought to be able to use it by pulling it out of the end fairly smoothly since it won't have to turn or tumble like an outside-pull ball or cake. i would really just recommend everyone saving up that $4 difference per skein and investing in a good heavy duty ball winder (the kind with metal gears rather than plastic), which will last forever and pay for itself over time in both yarn dollars and frustration saved. you can turn your scraps into seamless palette cakes or self-stripers with russian joins, just like the gimmicky ones but cheaper and you get to pick the colors yourself!
I'm on my third skein of the colorama, I did a center pull on all of them with no knots, no barf and no collapsing. I don't like paying extra for the same amount of yarn that I can get in a traditional skein. If tangles and yarn barf are a deal breaker for you, then O'Go is what you need.
I'm definitely going to buy some O'Gos after buying this! I'm excited to try a new type of yarn! Thanks for the review. Btw, this video is unlisted. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but I found it by accident going through your playlists.
I was skeptical at first, but once I started using the center pull I was completely converted. I love how smoothly this yarn unwinds from the center. I would buy yarn in this format quite often if it were available - BUT - they use way too much packaging. I’ve seen this format with a simple label band from other brands and I think they need to consider reducing packaging. They won’t stand up on shelves, but think of the trees they’d save! 🤣
Mmmh more expensive for the same exact yarn, plus it makes more plastic waste (the thread inside that you have to cut) and more paper waste than a regular skein/ball. Moreover they didn't care to avoid one of the biggest problems (in my opinion) of multicolored cakes (having at the beginning or at the end one short piece of the colour at the opposite end), giving it no real advantage compared to a regular cake. And it being knotless was a lie (I did wonder how they could make a completely knotless chenille yarn), which wouldn't have been a problem if they hadn't trumpeted it a lot before release. Cherry on top, the technology is patented, so only yarnspiration can make this type of balls. Maybe it's tangle free, but it's a no in my book
Absolutely agree. My first thought when I heard about this new yarn format was "Why are they adding single use plastic to yarn right when the climate crisis is at peak importance?!?!" I mean, this is acrylic yarn anyway, so it's already plastic, but at least you get use out of whatever you make from it before it goes straight to pollution, but that plastic tie makes this a hard no from me.
Whenever I trim yarns, it goes into a stuffing bag. Bits of scrap fabric too small to work with, threads too short to sew with, all of that in there. The next time I make a plushie, I stuff it with cut-down small pieces of whatever is in my stuffing bag instead of fiber-fill. It helps reduce the waste a bit!
Maybe it’s the “I’ve been crocheting for +20years” in me, but I don’t see the point in these new o-go yarn from Yarnspirations - I agree with the comments that say that they would probably turn this into a Cake after buying it, specially if Yarnspirations starts making most of their brands and yarns in these new o’gos, which I heard somewhere else they will.
You are a treasure, and so delightful!! I'm 70 and trying to get better at crocheting. I've know how for years, but, nothing other than scarves. Been a knitter since I was 7. thank you for a great video!! love, hugs, prayers.
thank you for mentioning the supply and the pandemic! I am so exhausted in being the receiving end of complaints (and even insults) upon the bared shelves at the crafts store I am working at...and also thank you for the review...being waiting for this product...
Congrats on 300K! Cheers to many more. I'll be passing on this yarn. I recently found cotton mill ends at a bargain store. In 7 one pound bags, 3 balls per bag, I have yet to find a knot and all started easily from center and outside. At least they didn't decrease yardage in addition to increasing the price.
I recently bought one of these as it was on sale. It is keeping company with other skeins of yarn in a basket. After watching your tutorial, i will be working on it sooner than later. Thank you for all of your time in testing the vast array of yarns and sharing with us.
I love how you said yarnspirations isn't saying they're trying to reinvent the wheel, and YET!!! The yarn is being sold in a wheel shape! LOL This is not for me due to wasted space to store these wheels and the wasted packaging.
Good point. "Not reinventing the wheel" would've been taking more care when manufacturing current product, no more knots in bullet skeins, etc. Literally putting these in wheel form is reinventing the skein!
Your reviews are always fair. I don't use blanket yarn, so no appeal for me. I also avoid excessive packaging, so again, no appeal for me. But I am glad I watched this review.
I recently subscribed to your channel after watching 2-3 videos. You are a kind & charismatic presenter and I am learning things about crochet that another channel I listen to doesn’t, so you balance things out.
I do not crochet but find your videos such fun to watch. I saw the O' Gos in Joann's recently and wondered how they were used. You get an A+ for explaining.
So psyched to have found your channel! Tried Blanket O'Go a few months ago, found the packaging a bit annoying but LOVE that gold mine of exciting free patterns. So I was happy that you pointed out how smart that was!
Good to see you again! I went looking for a variegated match the other day! I guess that teaches me to save the label! I said the other day, I had trouble making a spinner! I just viewed your new stitch! I was so. Confused! I will give it a few more try! I love your hair! Thanks
I just saw these the other day and was wondering how they worked - perfect timing for your video to come up in my recommendations! I think my main takeaway is that I'm not their target market, as I don't have any issues using regular skeins. I do like how easy it was to split apart at the different colors - I could see it being worth the extra price to not have to spend as much time fussing about if you want to start each skein at the same spot in the color sequence.
I’m so glad you reviewed this! I saw it at Michael’s today(they are on sale for $6.99) I didn’t buy it, because I was leery about the packaging 😂😂 but thanks to your suggestions I will definitely try it! Thanks Sis! 💜🦋
Thanks for this excellent review. I've wondered about O'Go and thought it looked a bit gimmicky. I was skeptical. However, after what happened to me the other day, and watching your review, I am reconsidering. I was on a plane and near the end of the flight as the plane was descending, my ball of yarn escaped from my backpack and rolled down the aisle all the way from row 5, where I was sitting, to the cockpit door! It was hilarious because 5 minutes later, people were in the aisles, taking down carry-ons, and my yarn was over and under people's feet, tangled on their bags, etc. And there I was trying to roll up the ball in the midst of all of that. Ugh! The good news is that I was only sitting in Row 5. If I'd been sitting where I usually sit on planes, all the way in the back, practically in the last row, and that yarn had rolled the entire length of the plane... OMG!
I just bought this yarn in the pink and gold super saver on sale at Joann. One thing not mentioned as a positive in the video is how the preset colors take the planning/guessing out of color working, especially if you’re new to crochet like myself. I love that I don’t have to think about whether or not colors go together. And rather than buying a bunch of skeins in 5 colors I just picked out 6 of these and mentally to me, it feels like I have less to think about! So the color options and pre-picked out colors are a huge bonus for me!
This was the first video of yours that I watched and you have gained a new subscriber. I appreciate your honesty regarding the products reviewed and you are a joy to watch/listen to. Looking forward to your other videos!
I stumbled across your channel when I was trying to figure out what O’go yarn is. Great video!! You are straightforward and clear, the video is well done! I’ve subscribed to your channel & look forward to more crocheting inside info!
Also good to note, different craft stores (at least in my area) have different color ways. My Michaels only had the bernat while my Joannes had both kinds but the Joannes had less color ways available than the Michaels and also a few different ones. So make sure to look at all the websites available to you before buying!
Thank you so much for your review, I was at Joanns and seen them for 11.99, may be fine to get if you dont have yarn stash and are away from home, yarnspiration did the work for you. I love your channel and you are just amazing, may God Bless you always.
I recently made myself a throw using Bernat Blanket & Baby Blanket yarns (to get all the colors I wanted I had to use both products). Then my cats started coming into my room in the mornings to wake me up, to "knead" the new blanket, walk all over me, practically make love to my new blanket! (They are all neutered, but that's what it felt like.) Thank goodness I bought 2x as much yarn as I needed. I'm now making something for them, and went back to using my old blanket until I'm done with their kitty couch (it's a Red Heart pattern for worsted but I'm converting it to a Blanket pattern). Cats just seem to love the feel of Bernat Blanket yarn!
I just love your reviews! They are so informational and you cover all types of questions. Thanks for doing this review of O-go. Not sure I will try it cuz the price doesn’t seem worth it. Keep sharing your knowledge and experience! 💕
Hello TL . First I love all of your videos. I am a fan. I saw this yarn in Michaels and plan to try it. I'll just start with one just to get the feel, so I'll make a scarf using a pattern from your blog because I am inspired by your work. Hi Toni, I just saw this yarn at Michaels yesterday. Thank you for all your great videos. I might actually try this yarn. I don't remember if I saw the Red heart o'go at Michaels, but that gives me another excuse to go back. Hugs
I love the idea of pulling the colors apart. If a stripe yarn doesn’t change colors at the exact place, you have to pull yarn off until you get to the next color. Love the colors pull apart and also the skein doesn’t collapse on itself.
I have just found your channel and also just picked up crochet again. Thank you for being awesome company whilst I work on my current thread crochet project. I did just come from your Amazon hook review and found myself laughing at 2mm being called Tiny but really, I'm crocheting lace and have no legs to stand on. I am definitely interested in trying this format out. I can't crochet a skein as it is packaged, I ball every single skein. I am hoping I won't have to ball out this yo-go yarn. Although I do travel by air a lot and I crochet on the plane, so a bit disappointed that this might not work as well as the balls I take with me in my little project bag.

I really love the idea of this yarn because it's the first time since I started crocheting that I have sensed someone trying a new method of storing yarn. However, I'm a little bit iffy about the plastic string in the middle, as well as the bulky cardboard.
@@dracofirex this is genius!!!
@@BRhymesss Thanks
My RUclips was not working and your videos did not appear until now! So glad I found this review
I love how you said yarnspirations isn't saying they're trying to reinvent the wheel, and YET!!! The yarn is being sold in a wheel shape! LOL This is not for me due to wasted space to store these wheels and the wasted packaging.
I actually chuckled when she said that 😂 And yeah I am gonna stick to my other yarns..way easier to store
Good point. "Not reinventing the wheel" would've been taking more care when manufacturing current product, no more knots in bullet skeins, etc. Literally putting these in wheel form is reinventing the skein!
Good point! In my view that's exactly what they've tried to do here, reinvent the skein!
Just discovering your channel. I LOVE your style and your positive energy. Can’t wait to learn more by watching!
Omg girl I live by you! I go to that Joann’s all the time!!
Thanks for your review. I don’t see myself making an O’Go purchase, but that’s okay-it’s not for everyone. 🌷
Your channel is my absolute fav yarn channel! Love your videos! And the energy and enthusiasm you bring with your beautiful smile 🥰🙏🏻
Toni! I'm rewatching this video because I adore your videos and I just had to come to the comments and tell you how absolutely radiant you are!
Thanks for your review of this yarn! Amma pass and stick with what I've been doing. You said it right when you said it was gimmicky!
I love the way you talk! You are very articulate and know your craft!! Thank you!!
Would just like to say congrats on 300k subs xx
Thanks for another insightful review of a new product. I'll stick to the yarn I get from overseas, not as pricey and works up beautifully.
Price and storage are my issues with this. I'd rather stick with cakes and skeins. So ... No Go with O'Go.
😻i love the cat nap blanket! i love how you incorporated the colorblock yarn into the design.
Thanks for another great yarn review Toni! And thank you for showing your commitment to being safe and preventing the spread of Covid-19!
Love the name.
I stumbled across your channel when I was trying to figure out what O’go yarn is. Great video!! You are straightforward and clear, the video is well done! I’ve subscribed to your channel & look forward to more crocheting inside info!
I really like how you were honest with the review…I’ve been hesitant to try it simply by the lack or colorways!
Also good to note, different craft stores (at least in my area) have different color ways. My Michaels only had the bernat while my Joannes had both kinds but the Joannes had less color ways available than the Michaels and also a few different ones. So make sure to look at all the websites available to you before buying!
I don't think you know how fast I *flew* over to check out yarnspirations free patterns, I'm always looking for another project! :)) loved the video!
You are super cool. And as a young crochet addict, you inspire me.
Thank you so much for your review, I was at Joanns and seen them for 11.99, may be fine to get if you dont have yarn stash and are away from home, yarnspiration did the work for you. I love your channel and you are just amazing, may God Bless you always.
Have to say, the cat makes the blanket look very comfortable
I have been crocheting since I was 12 years old as an adult I crochet from time to time. I mainly make blankets and scarfs, and simple things like bunnies, cancer ribbons, pompoms and head bands.
I'll try this yarn then begin my journey of crochet once again thank you so much for your videos
Your hair looks super cute 😍 💕
I’ve never heard the expression bullet skein but it’s a perfect description. 🙂
Hi Toni,
I just saw this yarn at Michaels yesterday. Thank you for all your great videos. I might actually try this yarn. I don't remember if I saw the Red heart o'go at Michaels, but that gives me another excuse to go back. Hugs
Hi. Toni said Red Heart is at Walmart only
I love the idea of pulling the colors apart.
The only other thing is that I found myself constantly worrying that your tea would be going cold whilst you were working up that cream swatch! Ah the joys of trying to remember your tea whilst focusing on a project...
I learned to knit about 10 years ago and it has brought so much happiness to my life. I keep thinking about picking up crochet as well and these yarn reviews feed that desire for sure!
1. It feels like acrylic, what do you want me to say? Love that comment. 2. Thank you for this review- so detailed and organized. I appreciate all the work that went into it. 3. Your manicure is amazing!
Hey Toni, I love your videos. I've learnt so much and enjoy crochet so much more thanks to YOU. I just wanted to say that in this video, your earrings are amazing! They sit so nicely in your curls and that look is fab. I have my daughter getting married next year so I'm constantly looking for inspo. Who knew I'd find it here. Keep being awesome TL!
I probably won’t ever use this yarn but I loved your yarn review. Oh, and your hair! Love it!
YO i was just gonna go rewatch some old yarn snob videos. did not realize this was a new one until you mentioned your sub count lol
I'm posting this before you even start talking about the yarn but your hair is FABULOUS 😍
Oh thank you!
Congratulations on reaching 300K subscribers. As a result of your channel, I was able to refine my Tunisian crochet skills.
i ADORE these yarn snob videos, they're the best like you Toni!
If I am flying and want to crochet, using the O Golike a neck pillow worked perfectly.
Good video, I was asking those same questions about "o'go" . You answered them all. Thanks.. 👍😊
Hi, I started crocheting a few weeks ago and am in love with your channel! Your reviews are in depth and entertaining!
I like the colors, thank you for this review. The catblanket is beautiful ❣and i love your hair
Thank you for the review!!! My crochet club had questions about this zone it's good to have experienced crocheters I sight!!!!
I absolutely ❤️ your CURLS! Your hair color is stunning! Thanks for doing this great review.
Hello. I've got to give a shout out to JoAnn's. On Cyber Monday I happened by a JoAnn's store and was thrilled to find a sale on O'Go yarn they were $12.99 a skein/round but they were offering a special of "buy one - get three free". So I got four skeins/rounds for $12.99 awesome!!!
Thank you, JoAnn's.
YAY! So glad someone finally reviewed this!
I don't think it won't be around forever, but it's interesting the things you can do with it, that's alway's a plus; Thanks for the review.😊👍
Oh my gosh your hair is beautiful. I love that colour.
Omg your hairrrrr it's so pretty and I absolutely love your energy
so cute how you made someone’s day just by buying yarn haha
Great review! I just bought an O’G0 blanket yarn for a snake pattern that requires three colors. I loved how I had so many colorway options to choose from. Especially since my JoAnn store has trouble keeping individual skeins in stock.
I really love the idea of this yarn because it's the first time since I started crocheting that I have sensed someone trying a new method of storing yarn. However, I'm a little bit iffy about the plastic string in the middle, as well as the bulky cardboard. One of the things I love about yarn skeins and cakes is that the labels are typically minimal packaging.
I'm still here for some packaging creativity though.
another wonderful review! THANKYOU! (your hook matched your nails today:))
feels a bit weird to mention this out of the blue but i just wanted to say i loooove your nails, they're so pretty, rlly cute colors!
You look extra pretty today, love your hair!
Great and informative video!!! Can’t wait to visit your shop since my daughter is moving to Columbus soon!❤️
Great view. Thank you for this. I doubt I would buy this strictly for the novel put-up, but they did knock it out of the park with patterns for it.
