    Hi Vanissia,
    I’m a pretty new knitter and just wanted to say how much I love watching your podcasts. I really appreciate how open you are about sharing your thought processes because I feel like I learn so much about all the things I can consider in my own projects. For your color swatch options I feel like you have a lot of neutral sweaters so I love the #1 green for you, but if you want to go more neutral tones then #3 was my favorite of those pairings (:

    I’m casting on some socks while watching - I have always done my cuffs on DPNs and then I knit the rest of the socks on two circulars (it’s like magic loop but easier for me because I don’t have to adjust the loop part). Your Balloon sweater looks great on you! I really like all the colors you swatched with the alpaca but I think my favorites are the green and the off-white, so hard to really pick a favorite. I really enjoyed the False-starts section - I can sympathize as these things have happened to me with one project or another. Looking forward to your video on project plans for this year. 😊

    While watching this, I cast off and wove in the ends for a pair of "experimental" socks I'm making to perfect a short row heel (since I use it for colourwork socks and never really love the fit of it). Hi Vanissia! always love your podcasts - especially love how you always include the prices! Currently working on the Ingrid sweater by petite knit :) Regarding the neck edge for the terni slipover, I'd recommend using the surprisingly stretchy bind off (or at least alternating it with a regular cast off) - it will give the neck edge more elasticity and should be fairly invisible seeing as the bind off edge will be inside the sweater. I saw that technique on a handmadebyflorence podcast, and now it's my go to for folded collars! xx

    I’ve knit one Erika sock and found my yarn overs where the next stitch is a purl is creating a bigger hole than the yarn over on the other side of the leaf where the next stitch is a knit. I’m going to frog mine as well because I decided to just make a quick pair of shorties in a vanilla pattern though I did the heel and flap from the Oona socks.

    • @thewoollyworker
      @thewoollyworker  Год назад +1

      I am finding this too actually ! But I'm gonna try not to let it bother me, and see how they fare after blocking anyways. And yes I'm also using the Oona heel for the erika actually !! such a good one

    • @verylikecheryl
      @verylikecheryl Год назад +1

      I found the purl hole arose because the yarn sits higher up behind the curve of the needle because of how we naturally hold the yarn when we purl. Tugging it harder does not help. Instead I kind of flick my right index finger down and apply some gentle downward pressure to it while scooching the knot of the stitch to the very underside of the curve of the needle using my index finger of my left hand. I’m an English style knitter but I flick the yarn with my right index finger rather than dropping and lifting it each time, so it is easy for me to use my index finger to apply that gentle downwards pressure. I’m not sure how this would work for continental or standard English knitters. I think just the scooching with the left index finger alone might be enough. Hope this makes sense x

    I really like that Stephen King yarn. So if I were to knit a Lento with it, for example in size S, would I need two skeins of 4 ply or DK weight? And then pair it with a mohair? I am always so overwhelmed by calculating the amount of yarn, especially since I've never purchased skeins/hanks (?) before. 😅

    • @thewoollyworker
      @thewoollyworker  Год назад +1

      Hiya, yes I'm fairly sure you'd need 2 skeins of the 4-ply fingering weight sock yarn, and then some mohair ! The pattern gives the yardage, so just divide that amount by the meters in a skein of mohair, and round up and ta daa, you know how many skeins
      But keep in mind it might be harder to make modifications to the sweater, like longer sleeves or longer body!
