Good review. I bought the LG, still goes up to 180hz and is better for work as it has decent colour accuracy. Overall it’s the more versatile monitor for work and play.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk ... if i go for G7, which model i should go for 27inch or 32inch ? if i go for 32inch 2K, will it be pixelated or any clarity issue i am going to face?
@@sayankumarchanda2916 27inch IMO. It seems to have less design faults, and it’s already big enough. That said, whilst pixel density is reduced on the 32inch, I’m not sure it’s enough to notice. It’s just that; why spend the extra money and hurt your eyes more for less pixel density? Unless the use case requires the monitor to be further away and you need a bigger screen, I wouldn’t recommend it. Hope this helps.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk One thing I never see most people consider when they are talking about monitor sizes and resolutions/pixelation is the users actual eyesight. As a retired senior my tire old eyes no longer notice small imperfections or really for the most part the differences in the image say between a 27" or a 32" screen although making the image bigger with the larger screen size my old vision does appreciate that!
I like that you explained why the G7 wasn’t for you without putting it down, and gave some useful info in the process. I had the G5 and liked it enough to order the G7 now that it’s on a Black Friday sale. Hoping I’ll enjoy it.
@@trancebass2741 I got the monitor, i dont use auto input tbh but standby issues yea I have but it is not a problem if you turn off the monitor before your PC is completly turned off
hey in your opinion should i buy the G7? i love its specs but the curve kinda worries me... i want to use it as a main monitor so not just gaming but for content creating aswell ( video editing ) or even just sitting back and watching a movie. would you suggest this monitor or do you have another in the same specs and price range?
This is the kind of monitor reviews i like... not just a bunch of spec sheets and powerpoint presentations but an actual "personal" use case... thanks... BTW i ordered the G7 (4k version) and i hated the curve and VA panel, the brightness was so high it was beaming light into my eyes and just ended up hurting my eyes... lower brightness made it look worse than a raspberryPi TFT panel... so returned that and i went for the LG 32GR95U-B...
the depth of these monitors has to be im sorry about the lamest reason for downgrading to a 27 inch monitor, but to each their own and im glad you mention this so consumers understand your particular concerns and whether or not they match their own.
Both monitors are 27inches. It's personal preference and for us the aesthetics took priority when comparing 2 really good monitors. Especially when the room is used for content creation 👍
Hey man, Need some help after seeing this video. I dont know if i should buy the LG UltraGear 27GP850 or Samsung Odyssey G6 32'... The difference is 25€ where i live... I mostly use it for gaming and seeing some movies and series! Btw, great video! got a new sub!
Thanks for the comment and sub man! Are you talking about the 32" Odyssey G65B, QHD, 240Hz? Because that is definitely a better panel then the 27GP850 IMO (Better speed and much much better contrast)! 27GP850 is a good monitor, but honestly for gaming/ movies you want the VA panel (G6) if you don't mind the curve.
Haha ok yes there are two options. The Duronic (no swivel function but you can swivel from the base, the most space saving I could find); www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-DM12X1-Monitor-Stand-Profile/dp/B07KGDC1FC The Kensington (has swivel but takes a bit more space) www.amazon.co.uk/Kensington-Monitor-Arm-Vesa-Mount/dp/B08D94SD5Z
Hello how are you it's a good review. I want to ask you about the G7 is it good for watching movies? The G7 and 27GP850 almost the same price G7 more by $30.
Thing about the G7 for movies is, if you sit back, the curve can make things distorted of your not sat at the right angle. For the sake of being all purpose and good for everything, I would recommend the LG more.
I bought 32'' version and because of the monitor i built a table for the corner of my room... If you don't have much space in your room best possible solution is to put monitor/desk in the corner.. stand to use that space.. otherwise you will have feeling monitor is too far from the wall, you will need wider table.. + you will need to sit little bit back to have comfort using this monitor. It's not for everyone but who get used to it.. it's really amazing.. Only thing what pissing me off about this monitor is normal standard stand... feet taking so much space, behind + in front of your monitor.. I strongly reccomended to get some arm to mount it on vesa, you will save so much space
Hi, great review, What would you recommend to someone that mostly plays Singleplayer games and MMORPGS (no esports titles) the g7(27 inch) or the LG 27GP850. Personally I really like how the g7 looks but I read mostly bad things about it regarding overshooting when having between 100 -180 or lower than 100 fps and I am afraid I will have trouble in 2k with it given that most AAA games wont run at 120+ constant fps.
The price of the 27gp850 has dropped so much that it’s hard not to recommend it in your use case. The g7 is the better monitor 90% of the time, however it does come with issues as you described plus the concern of the curve. So, If you don’t need the extra performance, why not buy the much cheaper LG and have the stable, albeit a bit slower, performance? I think go for the LG. (IMO)
what do you think about Full Array Local Dimming vs Edge lit. I am confused between these two monitors myself and that VA vs IPS things is bothering me alot. Do you know of any other good FALD panels/Monitors?
FALD is of course the next step in visual enhancement, if you can afford it. Honestly, this is the next step for gaming monitors - speed is already there, now it’s all about getting to individual pixel brightness (OLED already achieves this) All the new OLED gaming monitors, particularly the Alienware are near perfect HDR experiences. That said IPS FALD is ASus rog territory, but it’s so expensive I’d rather buy OLED. There is also the neo G7 and neo G8 in VA.

The one I use; The Duronic (no swivel function but you can swivel from the base, the most space saving I could find); www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-DM12X1-Monitor-Stand-Profile/dp/B07KGDC1FC Or The Kensington (has swivel but takes a bit more space) www.amazon.co.uk/Kensington-Monitor-Arm-Vesa-Mount/dp/B08D94SD5Z
Nice insights and like the sense of humor! hey, we all have to start out somewhere. You'll get the sponsors if you keep at it. I was wondering about the Samsung Odyssey 70A, the straight panel 144Hz that looks to a match for the 27gp850. Any views on that monitor (as to how it compares)?
Thanks for the kind feedback! The G70A is an interesting panel indeed - not sure why Samsung decided to name it so confusingly (similar name as the original G7). Compared to the gp850; different class of monitor, the g70a is 4K. Both labels are IPS, but the g70a has better contrast ratio (much better, in fact!). Furthermore, g70a comes with hdmi 2.1, so it’s the better choice for console gamers. Given the g70a is almost double the price and it’s 4K, with better contrast ratio and better connectivity options, the g70a is definitely the better panel (not considering the price). Overall, i think the direct comparison would be with the gigabyte M28u in that price range, also a 4K panel with similar specs. I’d buy whichever one is cheaper. How this helps!
Good question!!! I just covered this in my latest video; ruclips.net/video/9fmG_NDnduc/видео.html Depends on the price. Go for it if it’s less then £300 (or equivalent in your currency). Otherwise, in terms of performance the MSI MAG274QRF -QD is a better panel and better for contrast ratio (big problem on the lag). The gigabyte M27q is slightly worse, but also good if you can get it less then £300.
update bro? are you still using the same setup right now? im really torned between Samsung Odyssey G7 (LC27G75TQSEXXP) vs LG 27-inch UltraGear™ Gaming Monitor 27GP850-B. i really wanted to try curve monitor because i haven't yet but all i hear from it is bad stuff especially for gaming (for cheap ones for those that cost $1000+ they good but for around $500-600 people seems not saying good stuff about curve monitor)
I’m kind of in the same boat, I still have a little Over two weeks left in my return period for the G7. While I’ve been enjoying it, I miss having a clean setup…
It’s a strange place to be in. I can tell you that I tried both for a couple of weeks each. When i had the G7, i wished i had more space. When i had the LG, i wished i had my gorgeous G7 curve back. I am afraid I can not help you with this one. Tough decision, good luck! 😅
Hi which monitor you recommend for A casual gamer and full time Graphics Designer ? Does Photoshop look good on G7 with curve as I personally love G7 and in my country LG 27GP850 is like 100$ cheaper then G7 so I was thinking for G7, not sure how it will turn out as never used any curve monitor before :)
The LG is better for colour accuracy, and given you have doubts about the curve AND the LG is cheaper I would recommend to go with your mind, not your heart on this. G7 Curves gets us emotional, but it's important to remember it's a very serious curve, and it does take time to get used to.
I always had a curved monitor ever since I first started gaming, so I actually don't know how it feels like having a flat screen one. People say that it gives disavantage on fps games, do you still advice to buy it even tho it's already been 2 years since release? I honestly am already used to my curve 144hz monitor.
Well, pricing is good. I’d buy if you get a good bargain. It still holds up spec wise. There’s two of us running this channel, and one of us still owns the odyssey G75t. It’s still not a bottleneck by any means. However, we plan to upgrade to the beautiful QD-OLED soon. No other panel is worth upgrading from the G7, IMO.
I had 4 curved screens, the last one was a benq mobiuz ex2710r but I had to return it for a problem to the panel. I have the Lg shown on video and I must say that it is really a bomb. I still have to get a little used to the flat monitor but in my opinion also in terms of colors and much better, and at the price you find now it's a bargain (found at 299€ in Italy)
@@DoubleTakeTechUk i bought the g7 but after 1 week it broke and I black screen. The osd window doesn’t pop up, and the monitor was still on but just a black screen with backlight on. Idk if I should get a refund and buy the LG or just use the warranty and get a new unit. The internet says that G7 was pretty defective. Do you have any suggestion on what should I do?
Likes your video. The g7 seems great but besides gaming I use it for a lot of excel worksheets. Is it bad for Excel spreadsheets? If so I’ll just go LG thanks
I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on the G7, but you guessed it, the curve is a question mark! Could you tell me if the viewing angle becomes a problem when you're not facing the center of the screen? I often lean into the left side of my chair, and support my head against my hand so I'm facing off to the left side of the center of the screen. Does watching movies or reading text on the left side of the screen where I assume the curve would be, feel weird? I'm using a 1080p 24' incher, the G7 would be wider so I assume I wouldn't be as close to the left edge as I am now anyway. Would really appreciate if you could test this for me!
If you are not centred, you will notice the distortion. The viewing angles in terms of the VA panel colours are great, but the distortion due to curvature can become very apparent for movies and spreadsheets.
Hey, i wanna thank you for the great video, I have a question I’m planning to get one of them for my PS5 and my pc but I don’t know which one to get both of the are at the same price in my country. So do you have any suggestions I’m focusing on getting the G7 the thing is I’m afraid of the VA type and the curved bcs I’ve been using an ips 1080p 144hz monitor for like 3 years and I’m planning to get a new monitor for the new spider man 2 game and my pc for the same time any recommendations?
Hello, depends on your use case but if its the same price, G7 out performs the LG. But then you have to worry about the curve not being ideal for work and taking up more space.
Very detailed video mate! You got a sub! Just a few questions tho… So…JUST for gaming purposes and occasionally web browsing, would you say this monitor is worth the 530$ price where they sell it here in my country? To clarify, I have never owned anything higher than 60hz but the GPU that I’m going to buy later at the end of the year( the upcoming RTX 4080) will definitely get me those 240fps+ in the games that I play competitively( R6 Siege, Fortnite, and PUBG) thereby actually making use of that 240hz! I also like to play single player AAA games( in those games just 60fps+ is fine) like Red Dead 2 a lot which can be a pretty vibrant and colorful game, and so I would like to know if the colors look good or not in person… So, basically in conclusion, would you say that the Samsung Odyssey G7( 27 inch model because I prefer the higher pixel density) overall is perfect for my needs in that case? Thx for answering ❤️!
Hi Ela. Thank you for the comment and sub 🥳 Sounds like you are in for the best possible upgrade of your life! So first, RTX4080 would probably give you 400+ fps in games like fornite and pubg so no worries about the card being powerful enough. As far as the monitor goes, G7 is hands down capable of giving you one of the best gaming experiences in that price range. All I would say is if you haven't got the gpu yet, just keep an eye on the prices for the monitor. I've seen it drop price a few times recently and with some upcoming monitors, there may be a further sale. $530 is average price for the monitor in my opinion. Pixel density, 27 is perfect at 1440p. You could go to 32inch IF you have some distance between your seating position and the monitor. This distance needs to be more than an arms length to go above 27inch. Best of luck!
I just ordered three of them. I’m just not a fan of the I/O placement being right next to the VESA mount. Wish it would have been diagonal from the mount.
Hey man, I hope you're reading these comments still.. I got the GP850, any tips on which setting like Black Level, Contrast etc I should use for the best image? I'm changing them every day because I can't decide..

Great video, I got a few questions for you, if you could answer me, I would appreciate it: 1st. Is the difference between the Samsung's 240hz and LG's 180hz noticeable? 2nd. As someone who is a bit sceptical about the Samsung's curve, would you still recomend it regardless, meaning, do you think it is something that you can get used to? 3rd. I could potentially buy the either one of them, I was leaning more towards the LG but I've found a great deal on the Samsung Odyssey G7, being only 60€ more than the LG's 27GP850-B price, should I go for the Samsung Odyssey G7?
You get used to the curve, to the point where going flat feels like the corners are too far from your eyes after a while. However, spreadsheets and movies from a distance feel weird. I would still recommend the G7 (if prices are the same), it’s not the hz that’s noticeable, it’s the extra speed in response time and better contrast ratio. Instantly noticed when playing games. If you really want the next performance and can compromise in the event that you don’t like the curve, go G7. If you want something more general purpose but still great at gaming, go LG. I hope this helps!
@@DoubleTakeTechUk Thanks for the reply, it did help indeed. I know the G7 is the better monitor, but I'm very scared about the curve, since the majority of the reviews that I've seen, don't really talk about it in a positive way, in fact, most of them say it's something that makes the screen looks smaller, or that the curve is too aggressive and you probably won't like it/won't get used to or that the curve isn't great for general use. That's what I'm most scared of, I am going to use the monitor mainly for gaming, but I also like the general use, I'm not always gaming 24/7, sometimes I just like to watch videos or just browse the interent. I'm scared that I'm not going to be able to do other things apart from gaming, with such a curve. I am coming from a 24" 1080p TN 240hz display by the way, which is something to take in consideration.
@@giulev10 that’s an incredibly fast panel to be coming from. Have you considered the mag274qrf-qd? A better panel then the LG, should be similar price. I think given your use case, it’s best to stick with a flat panel and avoid the risk.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk I did consider the MSI model, but in my region, it's way more expensive than the LG's, 150€ more to be precise, which I think it's ridiculous. So yeah, I'll probably go with the LG's, but if the price of the G7 sticks being that low, I'll probably risk and go for the G7 since it's the better monitor.

I was think about getting this monitor for my pc I will be getting around Christmas but I was torn on getting it because of the bad reviews on Amazon of people saying that it’s bad or came in damaged with dead pixels and such and because it is a bit pricey but I was still wondering if you would recommend this for gaming for years without having to change monitors.
Gp850 imo - the gl850 is a bit outdated and won’t really give you a price to performance benefit. The ASus has comparable performance, but the LG is the higher selling, more known monitor and it does perform better. I would go for the LG.

I'm unsure whether I should buy the samsung odyssey g7 27inch for my setup, I'm planning to use it for my PC as well as my Xbox series s. Does this monitor perform well on the xbox series s?
Your only concern is hdmi 2.1, but you only need that for 4K, which you don’t on this monitor. Other then that, it’s a fantastic buy for both pc and your Xbox. That said, there are some minor issues with certain features but very minor. Xbox wireless would be my recommendation. It’s Microsoft across both platforms, you can’t go wrong.
I had the 32 inch G7 for a month and couldn't handle the space it took and how weird the excel sheets were. I returned the monitor and I am looking for something more simple like the 27GP850 here.
Just bid on a g7 on ebay and won it for £165. Second hand so could be a risk but they are 400 to 500 new. Never had a gaming monitor so see how it goes
This is a custom Drop Alt. Drop Alts are quite old and dated now, so I would not recommend these anymore. You are better off with Keychron or GMMK pro. One of those will be my next keyboard.
Depends on the situation. For web browsing - the native reader mode is fine. For photography / video editing work - the standard srgb mode is great and quite accurate, as reviewed by hardware unboxed. For gaming - two options. Gamer 1 (non FPS games where visuals are more important) = Motion blur reduction = off (causes red fringing) Adaptive sync = extended (extended gives wider range of VRR, if you notice no issues then always use this) Overlock = off (don’t need the extra energy consumption for non competitive gaming) Black stabiliser = 40 (to compensate for low contrast ratio on the monitor) Response time = normal Picture settings default. Smart energy saving = off. Then for FPS competitive gaming on gamer 2: Over clock= on This will grey out adaptive sync, which I would turn off for competitive gaming to ensure least input lag. Black stabiliser = 60 (for seeing in dark rooms) Response time = fast (the best to avoid overshoot. Fastest causes too much) And that’s it really. Still experimenting a bit but that’s my best setup so far.
Is it the neo G7 by any chance? Probably not, as those are a lot more expensive. Nonetheless, here’s my two cents. The original G7 is 1440p, whereas gp950 is 4K. The gp950 is a higher resolution, best in class IPS monitor. I would go for the gp950 unless you really want the best in speed because the G7 will still beat most IPS monitors in terms of response times and refresh rates Versus the neo G7, however, I would go for the neo G7, thanks to its mini LED FALD tech for better HDR experience. Hope this helps.
Which ones better ASUS TUF VG27AQ or LG UltraGear 27GP850 because I can’t make up my mind which ones better. The ASUs gaming monitor has ELMB sync and Adaptive sync but is that any better than the LG gaming monitor? Both monitors have very good colour accuracy. The LG UltraGear 27GP850 cost £379.00 The ASUS TUF VG27AQ cost £376.00 Both of the monitors are from curry’s pc world
I just returned the ASUS vg27 the other day I had a 4k 60hz but after playing on 4k for so long I couldn’t do the 1440p it looked so washed out and blurry it was terrible so I got the g7 for the 4k at 144hz
No not really between 180 and 240. I can’t actually hit 240 on most games. The only thing I have noticed is reduced eye strain in prolonged uses for games that can truly get to 240hz, like Doom eternal. Nonetheless, it’s nice to know my monitor is never the bottleneck for fps.
the lg monitor for me costs 360 dollars and the oddesey one costs 500 should I go for the lg? if I don't care about the size and the curve (I mean that I don't think they are bad at least the curve)
Hi Mewin, if you are not bothered about the price difference and the curve, G7 is the better monitor. LG provides really good value for money but under performs in some areas when compared to the G7. The G7 does take up more space and has a few minor glitches but should not be an issue on a single pc setup. I hope that helps 👍
@@DoubleTakeTechUk Thanks i bought the lg 27gp850 because I found one with a great price of only 363 us dollars and the oddesey was quit more expensive (542 us dollars) so i bought the lg monitor. if I'm gonna buy a curved i think it would be a 32 inch 4k monitor
Do you mean the new neo G7? That would be a good upgrade. From yours to the old one though (G75T) - marginal gains. Yes the G75T is faster, but IMO not worth the change.
Cool story bro. P.s. actually, Im confused... I get mixed messaging on which type of monitor is best for dark games... lets say what I like, Space (dog)fighters , pew pew, then some underground cave missions , rather dark environments (some maybe guess the "game")... you say the G7 is great for that? ... I heard some say that IPS would be best. Kind of confusing...Im worried about making out things in very dark environment and also avoiding smearing ofc. Also.. Im only considering this upgrade because my current monitor is dying, its an old model, it did its job, and since I have to upgrade, may as well get something of value at least mid term till some crazy new technology actually manages to be not rare (and ridiculously priced) ... in shops. Cheers.
Hi @Adrian, out of the 2 monitors, G7 is far superior in terms of dark games / environments. In theory, yes a lot of people do believe IPS is the way to go but in terms of the picture quality, the G7 is just miles ahead. The key spec you want to pay attention to is the contrast ratio when looking for monitors that could give a great dark image. IPS usually does not have a great contrast ratio. I hope that information is useful, thank you for the comment 😄
Looks like I missed this comment, there are so many, I do apologise! For deal environments, you need to consider two things - a good minimum brightness (so you can se the lowest brightness possible to make viewing comfortable) and a good contrast ratio. Contrast ratio is key (IMO). The darker it gets, the more you will notice the backlight bleed, IPS glow, and the dark parts of the screen will not be truely dark. Therefore, since the G7 has a higher contrast ratio, I generally looks better for darker games when playing in the dark. Now, switch to the OLED world (infinite contrast ratio) - any dark games will literally look like there is no screen where there is no light, because the pixels turn off and there is no back light. So - better contrast ratio = better dark environment viewing experience, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. People have different opinions on this point. 😉
@@DoubleTakeTechUk Thanks for the double interest... By now I have some good news and some bad news... I found my dream monitor(s) , and Im sure its good for dark-ish space sims also. Dell Alienware AW3423DW or Dell Alienware AW3423DWF (slightly cheaper) Still not perfect in every single way but my dream monitor right now and probably for a good period. Its a pretty expensive 1440p monitor, but I dont want 4K anyway, in my opinion 4K is only justified with very expensive GPUs, and I wont change that opinion. Now for the sad part... I cant afford it, yet, and for now I still have a very good monitor but its only 1080p. P.s. its a QD-OLED Marvel by the way... but Im sure you already heard of it ... It got the attention of many.
XMI, G7 has one of the fastest response times and best picture quality in its segment. The only thing slow about it is the start up and its menu. Once it is running, it gives you superior performance in the image displayed. I am unsure why you think it is blurred, we've not experienced this in our testing. Thanks for comment 👍
This wasnt the best monitor for PS5 mainly because it does not support HDMI 2.1 - but now that PS5 supports 1440p, you can get 1440p at 120hz with PS5. So yes, I would recommend it. However, gigabyte M27U is comparable performance and it has hdmi 2.1 support, so you it all comes down to what proce your buying one of these at, and whether you are ok with never being able to really use the monitors insane 240hz refresh rate. I’d say save up for an OLED.

Have you tried manually calibrating the colours? Also, check the calibration report in the monitor settings. This is strange, it could be faulty/ not calibrated. Try resetting to factory defaults. Or do you have a windows night light setting on? The monitor itself has an eye saver mode. This could be on? If all else fails, I’d contact customer support as this one is new to me!
@@DoubleTakeTechUk yeah no night modes tried different color settings nothing seemed to work for me did reset it/upgrade to to latest firmware pretty much same story
Simple answer, Yes. You can definitely feel the difference in the smoothness of the image with the higher refresh rate. However, this depends on the games you play as most AAA titles are not able to make the most of 1440p (pre RTX4080 release) above 200hz even. So if the games you play and the hardware you have is able to churn out the full 240hz refresh rate, for sure you will notice a difference. Does it improve your performance? That is subjective and dependent on your skill level in my opinion.
I'm mainly looking for va due to better black levels but I'm worried about ghosting and black smearing. I'm kot aware of any other monitor than the g7 that has 0 ghosting and smearing. Is there any other alternative that is 32" and 2k? If not than what is the best 2k 32" monitor in terms of colors and no ghosting/black smearing?
Think your only other option is the MSI MAG274QRF-QD, but it isn't VA and doesn't have black levels as good as the G7. At 32, I think the G7 is the only option worth talking about with zero ghosting concerns. But really, if you want anything better, then go OLED. ASUS OLED PG27AQDM is the way to go, but it's 27 inch.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk thank you for the reply. the thing is the ASUS OLED PG27AQDM is way more expensive than an LG c3 where i live so it's better to get the LG c3 or c1-2 tbh. And i'm highly considering those options

Yes those functions should work, the only issue with not using dp1.4 is you won’t get 240fps. Nonetheless on that card, you won’t be hitting those high FPS rates anyway so it’s not a major loss.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk Thx for answering I building gaming pc now so it not problem also i find DP on my notebook is USB C to DP but as you say i cant run 240hz anyways so i stay with 144hz for now
I don’t know if I’m wrong in my thinking I currently have an Asus 4K 60htz no HDR monitor that’s around 3 years old and I want to upgrade for my Series X. My thinking is I should get a 4K 120-144hz with HDR & 2.1 hdmi. I am finding choosing a monitor as a minefield there are so many and so many pros and cons. My budget is around £800 but not sure if I should go 2k 144hz I could be overlooking some really good options trying to stick with 4K. I wanted the Samsung Odyssey G70a but can’t get one anywhere in the U.K. and help or advice would be great as my mind is boggled as what to buy
This is a good question and your not alone in this market. Ps5 users are going through the same conundrum. I recommend the G70a, because it gives everything you need for future protecting 4K and hdmi 2.1. If money was no issue and you can go a bit big, then OLED is the best option. LG C1 is my pick, and it’s just a bit out of your budget. OLED will give you unparalleled blacks (contrast ratio is insane) and speed (the pixels transition faster then any other tech). As an alternative to the G70a with similar specs, have you had a look at the LG 27GP950? The only other option is the gigabyte M32U. The above are IMO the best options that have hdmi 2.1.
It is in terms of contrast ratio and colour coverage...however, just keep in mind the curved screen would require some getting use to and straight lines may appear curved... 😊
Very similar panels on paper - so whichever is cheaper, unfortunately I have not got much information on the ex 2710q so unable to provide an in depth comparison! The Benq is newer and has HDMI 2.0, so definitely go for the Benq if you have a console to plug in as well.
Is the reason you don’t want this because of the curve? I’m afraid there is nothing on the market in VA that comes close to the odyssey g7 performance. Lots of budget options, but nothing at this level. Check this out - www.displayninja.com/best-gaming-monitor/ Have you considered oled? The new Alienware qd oled for example. If you have deep pockets, that’s the one to go for.
Question, 28 in ips 4K g70a or g7 32in va for ps5? I just want the fastest monitor!! Please help n if u have other considerations please let me know. #subbed
Very interesting question. Now hold fire. First and foremost - the G7 is indeed the fastest, but it does not have HDMI 2.1. You need that for getting max settings on the PS5. The G70a, whilst a bit slower and also not a VA panel, has everything you need for a Ps5. And its seems brilliant, based on reviews so far. Im any case, whatever you buy must have hdmi 2.1. Hope this helps!
@@DoubleTakeTechUk maybe I can get away with the va panel until 4K 240 is available bcuz ps5 isn’t even native 1440 yet. N there isn’t many games in 4K yet for ps5 that I want to play. @@justdoinit2378 no the G70a will not do 240hz. I’m curious why you want to go for the 240hz though? The ps5 will not go above 120hz, right? You still have a point, I mean at this size of monitor your don’t really need 4K. With the original G7, you will still get 120hz 1440p with hdmi 2. And it’s half the price.

@@biodelik5164 in that case, go for it. All the best panels are within reach of each other. We’re talking small gains and personal preference. Personal preference and being content is more important, IMO. Personally, I find myself getting bored of any panel after about 6 months. 😅

Totally agree!!!
Hi, great review,
What would you recommend to someone that mostly plays Singleplayer games and MMORPGS (no esports titles) the g7(27 inch) or the LG 27GP850.
(IMO)
@@DoubleTakeTechUk I was thinking of getting ambient lighting to make the low contrast less noticeable, thank you a lot for your advice.

what do you think about Full Array Local Dimming vs Edge lit. I am confused between these two monitors myself and that VA vs IPS things is bothering me alot. Do you know of any other good FALD panels/Monitors?
FALD is of course the next step in visual enhancement, if you can afford it.
Honestly, this is the next step for gaming monitors - speed is already there, now it’s all about getting to individual pixel brightness (OLED already achieves this)
All the new OLED gaming monitors, particularly the Alienware are near perfect HDR experiences.
That said IPS FALD is ASus rog territory, but it’s so expensive I’d rather buy OLED.
There is also the neo G7 and neo G8 in VA.

Would you recommend the odyssey g7 27 for fps gaming such as valorant? Or is it better to get an ips?
I have had my curve for 3 years now and love it, but recently moved to a new desk and have it about a foot off the wall for the same thing

Good question!!!
I just covered this in my latest video; ruclips.net/video/9fmG_NDnduc/видео.html
Depends on the price.

G7 Curves gets us emotional, but it's important to remember it's a very serious curve, and it does take time to get used to.
bro do yo usuggest 27 or 32 for 1440 on the g7?
27! Unless you really really want a bigscreen. 27 is better in everyway

In my experience, you get used to it, but I would definitely prefer a flat screen for excel even after using the G7 for over a year
I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on the G7, but you guessed it, the curve is a question mark!
What do you think about flat model of g7 odyssey that come out recently?

Very detailed video mate! You got a sub!
Just a few questions tho…
So…JUST for gaming purposes and occasionally web browsing, would you say this monitor is worth the 530$ price where they sell it here in my country?
To clarify, I have never owned anything higher than 60hz but the GPU that I’m going to buy later at the end of the year( the upcoming RTX 4080) will definitely get me those 240fps+ in the games that I play competitively( R6 Siege, Fortnite, and PUBG) thereby actually making use of that 240hz!
I also like to play single player AAA games( in those games just 60fps+ is fine) like Red Dead 2 a lot which can be a pretty vibrant and colorful game, and so I would like to know if the colors look good or not in person…
So, basically in conclusion, would you say that the Samsung Odyssey G7( 27 inch model because I prefer the higher pixel density) overall is perfect for my needs in that case? Thx for answering ❤️!
Hi Ela. Thank you for the comment and sub 🥳
Sounds like you are in for the best possible upgrade of your life!
I got the same monitor G7 for more then a year and I can tell.. it's worth every penny!!

Great video, I got a few questions for you, if you could answer me, I would appreciate it:
1st.

That said, there are some minor issues with certain features but very minor.

hi, what keyboard is this?
This is a custom Drop Alt. Drop Alts are quite old and dated now, so I would not recommend these anymore. You are better off with Keychron or GMMK pro. One of those will be my next keyboard.
Why didn’t you just change the desk?!
Small room, already bought the legendary IKEA walnut worktop, so it was cheaper to do this.
What setting you have your lg on ???
Depends on the situation.
For web browsing - the native reader mode is fine.
For photography / video editing work - the standard srgb mode is great and quite accurate, as reviewed by hardware unboxed.
For gaming - two options. Gamer 1 (non FPS games where visuals are more important) =
Motion blur reduction = off (causes red fringing)
Adaptive sync = extended (extended gives wider range of VRR, if you notice no issues then always use this)
Overlock = off (don’t need the extra energy consumption for non competitive gaming)
Black stabiliser = 40 (to compensate for low contrast ratio on the monitor)
Response time = normal
Picture settings default.
Smart energy saving = off.
Then for FPS competitive gaming on gamer 2:
Over clock= on
This will grey out adaptive sync, which I would turn off for competitive gaming to ensure least input lag.
Black stabiliser = 60 (for seeing in dark rooms)
Response time = fast (the best to avoid overshoot. Fastest causes too much)
And that’s it really. Still experimenting a bit but that’s my best setup so far.
hi i was wondering, currently pricing in my country for g7 4k 144hz is 800 dollars and lg gp 950 should i get lg or samsung
Is it the neo G7 by any chance? Probably not, as those are a lot more expensive.
Nonetheless, here’s my two cents.
The original G7 is 1440p, whereas gp950 is 4K. The gp950 is a higher resolution, best in class IPS monitor. I would go for the gp950 unless you really want the best in speed because the G7 will still beat most IPS monitors in terms of response times and refresh rates
Versus the neo G7, however, I would go for the neo G7, thanks to its mini LED FALD tech for better HDR experience.

The LG UltraGear 27GP850 cost £379.00
The ASUS TUF VG27AQ cost £376.00
Both of the monitors are from curry’s pc world
I just returned the ASUS vg27 the other day I had a 4k 60hz but after playing on 4k for so long I couldn’t do the 1440p it looked so washed out and blurry it was terrible so I got the g7 for the 4k at 144hz
I bought one too last week.Any noticeble differance in real practice between 180 and 2070 HZ????
No not really between 180 and 240. I can’t actually hit 240 on most games. The only thing I have noticed is reduced eye strain in prolonged uses for games that can truly get to 240hz, like Doom eternal.
Nonetheless, it’s nice to know my monitor is never the bottleneck for fps.

Do you mean the new neo G7? That would be a good upgrade. From yours to the old one though (G75T) - marginal gains. Yes the G75T is faster, but IMO not worth the change.
Also - you need HDmi 2.1 for the full 120hz support on ps5. The Neo G7 has HDMI 2.1, the other two don’t
Ah, I did reply. Oh well.

I Dont understand how u can compare very slow G7 to extremely fast gp850? G7 is jelly blurred game experience... Please explain
XMI, G7 has one of the fastest response times and best picture quality in its segment. The only thing slow about it is the start up and its menu. Once it is running, it gives you superior performance in the image displayed.
I am unsure why you think it is blurred, we've not experienced this in our testing.

would you still recommend me this monitor for my ps5 today?
This wasnt the best monitor for PS5 mainly because it does not support HDMI 2.1 - but now that PS5 supports 1440p, you can get 1440p at 120hz with PS5.
So yes, I would recommend it. However, gigabyte M27U is comparable performance and it has hdmi 2.1 support, so you it all comes down to what proce your buying one of these at, and whether you are ok with never being able to really use the monitors insane 240hz refresh rate.

Is there a noticeable difference between 240hz and 144hz in your opinion?
Simple answer, Yes. You can definitely feel the difference in the smoothness of the image with the higher refresh rate. However, this depends on the games you play as most AAA titles are not able to make the most of 1440p (pre RTX4080 release) above 200hz even. So if the games you play and the hardware you have is able to churn out the full 240hz refresh rate, for sure you will notice a difference.
Does it improve your performance? That is subjective and dependent on your skill level in my opinion.
My g7 has just died and I'm looking for a replacement but don't want to spend a fortune
