I'm an INFJ and I've started to notice, with my friend's book club that I attend, even though I'm not the "host", i definitely play that role in leading the conversation. It's almost an out-of-body experience to watch myself take the lead (perhaps too much?) and guide the conversation in a way that includes everyone. So yeah - im the total "mom" of the group. But here's the thing: not only do i want to make sure everyone feels included, but im genuinely interesting in hearing EVERYONE'S response to the questions, which i don't feel from the others - i feel like they like to hear themselves talk more than listening to each other.

    • @AthenaBetancourt

Yes, this sounds very INFJ to me. We will take up a leadership role if we have to in order to make others feel included. Dominant Ni also makes us feel a bit separated from the world at times. Like there’s a layer of separation there or something That may be what you’re feeling there. sounds like you’re doing great work by the way!

The problem with all the functions being completely opposite of eachother is that both INFJ and INFP are very "paradoxical" where they love and hate something at the same time, and their lives are mostly a living paradox, like loving humans but also hating humans at the same time, Having big goals but always busy doing nothing. Etc Etc

  • @liony1140
    @liony1140 3 месяца назад +7

Until now, I haven't been able to definitively determine whether I am an INFJ or an INFP. I understand that online tests aren't always accurate, so I've been studying the eight cognitive functions in depth. However, the process has left me feeling confused. I notice that I exhibit INFJ behaviors and thought patterns in some situations, while in other aspects, I definitely display INFP traits. By the way, in the online tests I've taken annually over the past 8 years, three times I've been classified as INFJ and once as INFP. Apart from the unquestionable "I," my scores for the other three letters (NFJ) fluctuate around 50-60%+-.
I used to firmly believe I was an INFJ. For instance, when entering a room, I could immediately sense the overall atmosphere and everyone's emotions. Sometimes, it even felt like I had some sort of superpower, able to perceive things that others couldn't. Another example is that many people might think someone is nice, but just by seeing them and having a brief conversation, I would intuitively feel I should stay away from that person. Although I couldn't explain why, facts would eventually prove that my intuition was correct. This sense applied not just to people but also to analyzing events and making decisions. like a human radar.
However, the cost of having this "superpower" has led to extreme mental exhaustion. Perfectionism has also made me very passive in doing anything, as I procrastinate out of fear of failure. Being overly concerned with others' opinions prevents me from allowing myself to make any mistakes. Disliking conflicts, I force myself to please others. All these factors have caused my internal struggle to worsen, bringing me to the brink of depression and even suicidal thoughts.
At the time, I didn't understand why I was so unhappy. I could hardly perceive my own emotions correctly. If others were happy, I was happy; if others were anxious, I became anxious too (and back then, I didn't even realize my emotions were syncing with others'). Expressing my own emotions was out of the question. Later, as my suicidal thoughts emerged, perhaps my body instinctively sought self-preservation, so I turned to many psychology books, beginning to face my inner self. I practiced turning off my Fe, focusing only on my inner feelings, and dedicated time to understanding myself.
Through continuous and deliberate practice, I gradually stopped caring about others' opinions, no longer feared making mistakes, and tried to be more flexible and spontaneous. After finally overcoming my internal struggle, I took the test again and found I had become an INFP. The intuitive "superpower" I once took pride in wasn't as strong as before. I started showing more INFP characteristics, though I still retained some INFJ traits. Occasionally, I would still be influenced by the emotions of my surroundings and people, but I could quickly refocus on myself. Over time, my sensitivity to the environment diminished significantly. I began to express my own stance and feelings, no longer just pleasing others for the sake of harmony, and cared more about my own feelings.
Could these changes have affected my Fe? And it seems my Ni has also changed. I'm not sure.
For example, I still tend to make plans because it gives me a sense of security. When it comes to new people, events, or situations, I still need to do a lot of research and schedule everything in advance to feel at ease. For most things, I need to clearly know what I should do and what the next steps are. And I'm very future-oriented, before all the changes, I almost never looked back. This is very INFJ, right?
However, at the same time, I don't have just one goal. I'm interested in many things, and although these interests haven't changed much over the past decade, they are quite diverse. I'll be interested in A for a while, then switch to focusing on B, then C, D, E, and eventually back to A. A jack of all trades but a master of none. And I start to think about the past from time to time, although most of the time I would think about how my past experiences affected me now (not sure if this kind of recollection is an INFP trait or an INFJ trait?). But anyway, this is still very INFP, isn't it?
I've seen many people say that personality doesn't change, but I seem to have changed quite a bit. This has left me increasingly confused.

Wow this video was amazing thank you so much!!! I am definitely an INFJ and I've come to realise through my growth and self-improvement, I have actually developed the strengths of an INFP too. I know what I want in life and what I feel but I share this in a very INFJ way where I protect social harmony. I am also an ideas generator then use my INFJ skills to obsess, hone in and get stuff done. So I'm beginning to feel balanced as a person. I also have days where I 'plan' to be spontaneous which involves no planning, just a plan not to plan 😂 It also frustrates me in a group setting where I see others feeling anxious or uncomfortable and welcome them in warmly, but I have yet to have anyone do the same for me when I've been feeling that way too.

One way to inspire them might be to have them read descriptions of each of the 16 temperament type. Then ask them which one describes them the best. Then tell them they can take a free simple test to see if it confirms their intuitive guess. If the test result is consistent with their guess, then most likely they are that type. If the test result is different from their guess, their guess is more likely their type, and the test result was inaccurate. This has been my experience.

In terms of values, one thing I’ve noticed as an INFJ is that I could only identify them, in comparison to others. That is, the experience of interacting with others revealed these values to me, as opposed to me intrinsically knowing of their existence.
Being FE-auxiliary is challenging for me to know who I am (self). I can’t rightly know who I am, unless I have a basis of comparison via interaction with others. Another challenge, is that I sometimes mistake the emotions of others that I absorb, as my own.
A lot of people who donate to charity, for instance, are heavy FE users - so, they want the unfortunate people/animals e.c.t., not to suffer, because they can feel it (absorb emotions). FI users who donate to charity, do so on the basis of what their internal self proposes (feels) - if the organisation’s values align with their internal ones strongly, for instance.
We identify patterns, but detail-oriented tasks/work is SUPER draining. Our ability to identify patterns, is often at a high level view and conceptual. We can have many ideas/insights but never take action, due to underestimating how much energy it would take to follow through. That’s the bane of being an INFJ 😂

And so I truly believe I am both or a better way to put it, it seems to me that the INJP is the Yang to the Ying of INFJ. A better way to explain it maybe is, and INFP is a broken or mastered INFJ. Meaning as INFJs get deep into a topic. Once they’ve mastered it, they turn to their INFP if pushed far enough. Not that we don’t like to keep the peace and feel everyone’s vibes, but because when you’ve mastered patterns others have and you’ve gone through, you’d through the BS and start becoming the pessimistic side of the very observant INFJ. Meaning the INFJ may observe and have targeted objections as we do. But sometimes when carried off to areas unexpected where control is taken, we can revert to an INFP very easily. Another way to explain the INFJ is the logical side of us, where the INFP may be the emotional part when we get tired of the same story or see the same patterns repeated with no one learning no matter how much you put in to help them. Seeing my point? I think the INFP is the dark side of the INFJ or the mastered side of it. Though you can have an assertive focused point as an INFJ, you can still see the whole game board like the INFP. What seems the INFP is “unfocused on”, May be a missed understanding that they as an INFJ, didn’t see value in one topic and moved to another or can be they resolved the puzzle that gave them satisfaction to move on, seemingly unfocused. Not necessarily because they are, but because it may have been only a piece of the bigger picture that others can’t see, reverting back to the INFJ. The INFP becomes more assertive the more he understands a matter and sees patterns in peoples behaviors that when found to be dishonest or lingering for reasons we can trace back to, we may assert he INFP and get more direct to the point and what appears as the INFP emotional side. Again INFJ seems to represent our logical, everything is good side and planned out. INFP is the mastery or the war zone of the INFJ. Most times when we’ve had enough of the BS and no longer see the priority as keeping everyone happy, but in fact stirring the pot to get the overall results and to wake up a sleeping people in their own creative way. Hope I made sense. As it seems everything you said made perfect sense to me, but I see myself in both. The side of me I originally intended and still have all the time as I revert to it naturally as it’s who I am naturally. But with experience, I’ve seen the INFP come out roaring which is very unlike me. It’s been learned through experience. So I think you guys may need a new “alphabet title” I suppose because I think, one’s the logical side, the other is the emotional side.
Hope you can clarify or add to this if there was any light bulb moments!
Thanks again for what you do brother! Again it’s awesome to see others think as you do! 🔥😎

I'm someone who has been typed professionally, self+ online and through study... As an INFJ, I actually find myself often doubting my type
.. and thinking I could be an ISFP and INTJ.
I resonate with INFP but I can feel a very clear difference between the two, obviously due to using completely different functions.
Our fourth function is not as difficult as our shadow 😂
I don't use my Ti ... Verbally, or outwardly- I won't outwardly ask "why" or question people.
BUT I'm constantly asking questions internally, and my internal dialogue is STRONG.
As a childhood abuse survivor my Se works quite a bit better than maybe some others in different circumstances... BUT I miss stupid random details and the bumping into things and not eating etc, such an issue haha. BUT I noticed the interactions between people, what people are wearing, directions, and the "vibe" of a space quite accurately.

I love learning new things and mastering them, and then moving on to mastering something new. It’s been that way my whole life so I have acquired a lot of great skills and different life experiences. I’m a Jack of many trades and a master of each.
Early in life I learned to evaluate all of my interests, dreams, and passions and then choose the best things to pursue and almost always succeeded with whatever I took on. I had no problems sticking with the things I took on and achieving them. In fact, doing otherwise would have made me feel like I failed. I love the words.. failure is not an option.
Your video was really good at noting the differences between the INFP and INFJ. I’d previously thought I was an ENFP but that’s most likely because I did a lot of self-love and overcoming social anxiety work in my early 20s. So I can be extremely sociable and authentic (despite being so unique) however I don’t tend to like long drawn out social events and will actually avoid them at all cost. 😂 I’m also well liked and attract people. I prefer close one on one conversations over group chats any day.
I’m also psychic, so it’s just been a normal thing for me to sense what people are really feeling, and if someone is evil or up to no good, I often know it right away no matter if they’re trying to present themselves otherwise. It’s a great trait to possess as it keeps me safe, especially living overseas. I don’t approach, respond, or talk to anyone I sense is up to no good. I fully trust my intuition.
I do tend to hold back a great deal of information in my conversations with others, but not because I am trying to fit in, but rather because I know more than they know and more than they can handle knowing.

Love how you put emphasis on how MBTI is our map, or how Jung said it is the skeleton. Bravo my fellow INFJ😊
In regards to planning out things; I always have a plan A, B or C because being too rigid in your plans (simply sticking to one plan) can spoil it as well when unexpected things happen. Usually when I have to opt for plan C I’m more flexible and go with the flow, because not everything is within our control. Plan C is when I let things take it’s own course.
It is important that we try to integrate our opposite side, our repressed or underdeveloped functions to be more complete.
Being an INFJ has gotten me into “trouble” a lot…I can laugh it away now usually because I accept myself more and understand where it comes from. Sending much appreciation ❤

I've taken the mbti test in the past, but the last 2 times I got INFJ and that was taken about 4 months apart. The absorbing of emotions hit me because I've had that tendency since I was very little. My parents told me I got upset one time because I couldn't tell someone was laughing really hard, but it was a loud, intense emotion and that's all read.
I also didn't handle any loud noises or expressions of anger from others well. It's always like feeling the physical tension corsing through my entire body when it happens, even if I have nothing to do with it. This includes movies and videos too. I handle it better now that I am older, but too much in one day can wear me out. The writing part was very accurate too.

I feel strange though, as I can feel the emotions of others, I can feel how they’re feeling.. But, I’ve also been through so much trauma that I can more than likely relate to their experiences too. Like, it will hit me, “I went through this too!” Although, it’s more the experience rather than the emotional aspect. I feel their emotions, they talk about what happened, and then it brings back memories. I’m definitely an INFJ, but I’m more of an open book, always explaining who I am and what I am because no one tries to understand and they create assumptions and lies, but at the same time, I’m still mysterious. It’s a way of comforting people, sometimes in their distress, you tell them your experience a little. So they don’t feel alone. My emotions are jumbled though, I rarely know what I’m feeling unless it’s powerful and can’t be ignored. What you said about when we feel other’s emotions, it then unlocks ours was mind blowing! Really, thank you for the video.. The biggest difference between INFP and INFJs, is that we INFJs don’t really accept our uniqueness fully, we think something is wrong, but INFPs are complete individualists and rock it. Not that any other MBTI type is unique, but we INFJs are soooooo hard to understand. Even for an INFJ. I’m drawn to help and heal people, and have been my entire life. I’m surrounded by INFPs in my family, and I felt off because of that drive to help and hardly think for myself. But I’m happy that what I am has a name.

People might have a difficult time managing the white rock when they install an in-ground swimming pool in their back yard. At about age 45, I asked myself, “what is this white rock that I have grown up with?” And off I went into a deep dive about the Cretaceous Era, ancient oceans, mountain formation, marine life dying, etc……I still enjoy reading about “White Rock” today, but not to the extent that I did during the initial learning phase. My work is as an interpreter: American Sign Language and English. I have a BA and an MA in Psychology. Geology is no where near my professional interests. But as an INFJ - that’s how I am -- “oh, let’s learn about this now”. And off I go on a deep dive into research and learning.

i love comparing INFP and INFJ with overlapping stereotypes.. as example, INFP 2w1 vs INFJ 4w5. this is a very interesting subject and helps me understand much better what makes INFP an INFP and so on. in most case, healthy and functional INFP would looks outwardly agreeable to the point they looks like Fe aux such as IxFJ
to rly tell them apart we need to fully understand its motivations behind their thoughts since healthy INFPs also able to be accomplished, logical, and cautious. you are able to 'felt' their motivations and core personality is inspiration-based; related to their personal ideals. as example, if they idolizes nice-saint-like figure and inspired by its values they strive to be something like that (unconsciously or not) for themselves. Fi-Ne, right? to rly consider something as 'inspiration' you would unconsiously see their values matched with yours
for INFJs, i just felt these kind of person is intimidating, intentionally-or-not, poking someone with certain 'true-yet-uncomfortable' truth. actually INFP also able to poke someone, but the impact is higher when INFJs doing this. it's like.. certain strong impersonal truth lies there. INFJs motivation mostly collective-based; directly pointing out 'I want this community to be like this' for everyone's sake and its execution mostly not rly understood by everyone (their idea execution often seems a bit unusual; people just did not get it, but gets the job done as it should)
both INFP and INFJ able to adopt both motivations, but as long as i see, what comes first would be different (since INFJ lead by Ni). sometimes it did not figured out easily but someday you will understand
tbh after i learned this, i did not understand cognitive function community still categorizes them stereotypically-based. i still understand if it's 16p would be stereotypical but not the cognitive function.. since it's 'cognitive'. i remember heard INFP said 'i am INTP in everyday life since i am logical' when in fact seems Si-Te enough although not dominant. INTP logic isn't outwardly-based, you mostly see them blabbering about things based on their mind
    anyway im an INTP hehe

This was really helpful. :D I was pretty sure I'm INFJ before the video, but I'm interested in the differences to learn something. If I haven't my great intuition, I would be totally lost in the big world. For sure :D I always have bruises on my elbows because I keep getting caught on the door frame or door handle when I take turns too tight because my head is somewhere in creative worlds. And I really can speak a lot better if I had wrote down the things before. Nethertheless I hate phone calls with and without writing things down. 🤣
    Greetings from Germany 🤭😊

I relate a lot to this channel, as an INTJ empath.
I share a lot of traits with INFJs, but where I diverge is with Fi, as mine is strong, and I also have no codependent or people-pleasing tendencies. I always want to help people & make them feel comfortable, and aid them to unlocking their potential, but never once have I needed anyone to like me, which I appreciate about being an INTJ.

That must be so relieving! I think that’s a major difference too, Fi is much more sure of its own feelings. i’ve noticed this about INTJ‘s, they just really don’t care where as I care very much.

@@INFJcircle If I could toggle between being an INTJ & INFJ, I feel like I’d be “perfect,” since I love being an Ni-dom, but the next best thing I can do is learn thru observation & experiences.
I know that I lack the innate tenderness & sensitivity needed in situations where someone is grieving, for example, so I try to learn from those with strong Fe (healthy examples of it), which would allow me to show up better for people in those circumstances.

I see it like this: an INFJ is the one who might where more minimal, modern, elegant clothes with strong cuts, and the INFP might be more drawn to mixing and matching, wearing what they find on the street, flowing clothes. The INFJ will likely have a very curated and minimal home where the know exactly what they want to place in it and where, and the INFP will be more likely to go with the flow and collect what they find, and keep things of sentimental value. An INFJ as a musician will want structure and to tend to every last detail, and the INFP might be more open to jamming and seeing where the flow takes them. An INFP is pensive , brooding, analytical, and calculative, and INFP dreamy, flowing, possibly a bit more chaotic.
Im an INFJ and have come up that way for years, but I used to come up as an INFP in my younger years. Interestingly, I did wear more flowing clothes back then, I would travel the world a bit aimlessly, dreaming and writing poetry and not being so concerned with end goals or career creatively. Nowadays I’m all about things being curated, together, minimal, and envisioning and seeing through my end results and objectives very thoroughly before I undertake things.

I think I'm Infp and I decorated my home with items that I collected along the way and had sentimental value and I Def dress like you wrote. Flowing is my feeling on things. Great observation

@@rosellaboduroglu Hehe, indeed! Actually I’m an INFJ and my home is a conglomerate of things I collected and found along the way too, but I think in a different way than an INFP- I was for instance extremely specific about what I wanted- I wanted an acrylic chair but couldn’t afford one- then I found one outside my building shortly after 😆 My friends had left some of their woodwork shelves behind but I was very specific to not wanting many browns or dark colors in my flat, so I painted them white. That kind of thing. And everything either fits into the aesthetic goal perfectly, or serves a function, and minimalism is always the goal. I know another INFJ and we laugh about how people always ask us why we don’t have more furniture 🤣 And on the note of Infp- I’m sure not every infp wears flowing clothes (though many do) buuut, the feeling of flowing is definitely there ;)
