Edit from 2 years after this video was posted for Ti users ;)
Any time I say a behavioral example of how a type shows up like "I tend to notice a lot of ISTJs with fitbits" this is to ground the theoretical concept for viewers who have repeatedly asked me to give behavioral examples and to make content less abstract and confusing. However, any time I stray from motives and transfer to behavior, it will lose universal application. Any time I give an example like this it is not an absolute, it is not a rule, that behavior is not exclusive to that type, that behavior is not the exclusive manifestation of a type's motives, not everyone or even most of the type might do that thing; but it is simply a one-time example of how the motivations that ISTJs share could manifest - not how they must manifest.
In addition, different motivations aside from Si-Te motivations could also prompt someone to get a fitbit, so this behavior alone cannot be used to type someone. In my day to day life, I do not see people with a fitbit and therefore declare them an ISTJ. Any example I give did not come from inductive reasoning which gets applied universally like "I saw 3 ISTJs who wear fitbits therefore all ISTJs have fitbits." In addition these examples can be backed up deductively with Carl Jung's and Van Der Hoop's writing like "Si is finely attuned to sense organs"; "Te likes outcomes and metrics" "therefore an example could be, but is not limited to, ISTJs wearing fitbits, especially when used to measure sense organs."
I have been working on Ti and thus curbing misunderstandings on this front, but in case I say something contrary to this belief, it was due to sloppy Te langauge (or it was a non-serious joke) and not because I believe differently. This series in particular has a lot of sloppy language so this message is getting copy and pasted to all these videos lol.

I took many online mbti tests. Some gave me INFP and some gave me INFJ. That made me watch several comparing INFP and INFJ videos, but didn’t find a clear indication which shows I am which one of those cuz I have many things related to both of types equally. Until I found a video about "can u have 2 mbti personalities if u have something related to more than 1 type?" The answer is no and ur type cannot be changed cuz u were born with it. The reason why u feel u r related to more than 1 type is u grow up and some of ur cognitive function have developed. I totally agree with that cuz I always feel like I’m infp with more punctual, planning and organizing version cuz I am always taught by my family to organize everything carefully and professionally, but when I was a kid I was not good at organizing things at all. That makes many mbti tests mistyped me as INFJ. Another thing that makes me even more sure that I am INFP is the names of both personalities "mediator" and "counselor" What both personalities have in common is they like helping people especially by listening to their problems and help them figure out what to do. I realized that when people tell me their problems, I always say something to make them feel better, cheer them up and make them understand themselves more about what they want then suggest them multiple options of what they should do. That’s what mediators do. While INFJ people will give clear a advice and come up with a specific solution. That’s why they’re called counselors.

I am a Mom bossy person. We are musicians. I'm a dancer for a living. Now I teach. I get a lot of abused women in my classes, and I can spot them the first time they walk in my door. Usually by the third class, they ask me to coffee and confide in me.
I altered my class to build more confidence in my students, and it works. It's part dance, part therapy. I love teaching that way, and helping people.

Might be late to the party, but I have the same feeling: I was an INFP, but certain things changed inside me, and in many situations I work as an INFJ. I have Si for sure, but Fe or Fi? I have both, I think. Also I became a software developer and I get paid for thinking all day :D So I use this function as well a lot (however it is around the bottom, even if I am an INFJ or INFP). I am still a feeler, but I also questioning myself, if it is right to feel that way. I have some core beliefs that can't be hurt, other than that I can go with the flow internally and externally. I have random crap around the house, but noone understand my emotions as much, as I understand theirs. And I also adapt to the group I am in at the moment. And sometimes I feel soooo complex. Once I was also a heavy drinker. But also a heavy thinker (pun intended) and I quited because of that. :D

On the other hand, as an INFP, I have so much stuff. I am regularly throwing away stuff too, but I still have so many things (not necessarily memorabilia but often things related to things I tried/my hobbies/random crap). This was hilarious for us to watch, thank you! My husband and I are both in our 50s and after years of heartbreak and trials, once we found each other, both our worlds really took off for the better.
I’m a female INFJ and my husband is an INFP (we both took the quiz a few times at different times just to double check).
We really do have an almost unfathomable, almost other worldly relationship that friends have said they want a relationship like ours and the depths that it goes. But I truly believe this is only possible when you have two people willing to go into their own personal depths to identify their own traumas and work on healing them.
We have a strange dynamic, even though we are always together, we are always separate and very independent. An example would be, especially from lockdowns during the pandemic, we could spend the entire day working next to each other, barely speaking and completely focused on our tasks, yet feel comforted just being in each other’s energy.
We also have a daughter who’s 20 and is an ISTP. We had a really interesting conversation about our family dynamic when we’re out in public and realized we actually have a protective system built on how we interact with the world.
Example: me, the INFJ (when I’m rested and full of energy) will initiate conversations with strangers or strangers will speak to me, probably because of my friendly tone and persona - which FYI, we ALL cracked up when you did your impression of how an INFJ greets people! My daughter said, OMG mom, that’s SOOO you!)
My husband, the INFP, will watch and listen, occasionally interjecting and then stepping back to observe as I take his topic and run with it.
Our daughter, the ISTP will stay completely silent, usually right near dad (he’s definitely the strong silent type) and only speak minimally when directly asked a question, unless she knows and is comfortable with the person.
    Very interesting! Thank you ☺️

friends is an INFJ-T. We compliment each
other perfectly. We have never had a
cross word between us and respect and
love each other deeply. Learning about
the MBTI has honestly changed my life
.... I now know and understand who I am
and am urging my other family and
friends to find out their personality type
too. I believe this will be beneficial to us
all and result not only in more
    harmonious relationships but a greater
understanding of who we all are and how
we all see the world. This naturally will
lead to a better understanding of who we
turn to in times of need. You want a
shoulder to cry on ? Go to X, you want
advice on a more practical problem go to
    Y. You struggle to understand someone,
know their MBTI and it becomes clear to
you how they think and view the world.
End result ? Family, friends and loved
ones gaining a better understanding of
    our individualities and gaining a
    wonderful, supportive and harmonious
future together. Love, hugs and peace to you all, ❤️🤗✌️

I agree. It's much easier to understand and accept someone when you know their type and you can go ahh so that's why this person does this and that and that's why we have those arguments and that's why we see this and that differently. Seems some people don't like being reduced to 4-5 letters but I think just understanding that there's reason why people are so different and knowing there are some patterns in the way their brains work can make us more humble - in a good way - and help us communicate better.

Most tests I've done have came out as INFJ but then others as INFP, I feel almost like I have in equal measure both types you describe. Even as a teenager I went through a gothic phase and then a hippy phase. My personal appearance used to be more flamboyant when I was younger and as I've grown older has become more minimal and very toned down. Having said that I'm an artist with many passions but even though my house is full of paintings, books, musical instruments, everything is super tidy, no hoarding at all just what I need for my creative work. When I deal with other people's emotions I'm always mothering them and asking why but when I deal with myself and my emotions I always ask what if and get lost in the multiple option path. If you're my guest I will ensure that you're feeling loved, pampered and catered for. I know you can't be both. So... I'm still confused as to which one I am and then developed characteristics of the other over the years and why did that happened.

An easy way to tell the difference between an INFP and an INFJ is have them debate. The INFP may tend to drift off the maint point of discussion and hit a lot of side notes, or just try to move from one point to another without concluding the original point of discussion. The INFJ will will simply stay on the original point and try to bring the INFP back on point.
Moreover the INFP will tend to make loose claims that they just think are true and the INFJ will be picking the entire claim apart in an attempt to show It's logical incoherence and then construct their own argument in an objective and logical fashion reaching out to many different related points of fact and observation and logically bringing them all in to explain in detail the factual and logical coherence of their opinion as objectively as possible. I would say that the INFJ would most likely win, but due to the likelyhood that the INFP simply doesn't care much or doesn't understand the logic of the INFJ's argument because they simply FEEL they are correct and are pretty set in their opinion they will likely skip over answering many if not all the logical points the INFJ has made and just continue to affirm that their view is correct in a way that attempts to cool the conversation down because the INFJ seems to be getting heated for a number of possible reasons lol.
My dad is an INFP, and myself an INFJ. Maybe i'm just projecting, but this is how it is with my dad and I lol.

Yes... INFP & often i can't debate. It's the stress? Or just chaotic, because everything is connected to everything and ... lost track again..
I know 3 INFJ's and they seem to be more in depth and thought through then me. Me personally speaks in assumptions, my best educated guesses. I do believe what i say or write at the time, but often (always) never sure if i am correct about the matter or the so called fact i mentioned is true or not and they (INFJ's) asking for a source and wants to know if it's a one time paper or a real study done by various & independent groups of researcher and on and on and on. • @yoshiperspectives4880
      @yoshiperspectives4880 2 года назад +6

@@Daeva83B It's possible these people you're talking about are not actually INFJs... I don't think an INFJ would care so much about your sources... The INFJ themself would most likely hold no special respect for any source as their own internal logical system is the ultimate authority on judging if something is true or not. The INFJ could very well disagree with the source Itself. Like what gives this source the authority to just be right? no matter how much research was done. For example, I disagree with Einstein's theory of relativity! I see flaws in his thought experiments and don't think it deserves the respect it is given today. So i wouldn't care if someone sourced Einstein to me. So rather than asking for your sources or somehow prove what you're saying to be fact, i think the true INFJ would just get straight to the logic of the idea built with the facts and concepts and observations that are his own. And It's people like that, like Jung himself that Instead of citing a source, they become the source themselves.

I’m an infp and my grandmas an infj and she’s one of my favorite people on the planet and I have an infj friend and ik not all personality types are the same but every infj I’ve met so far always gets into a manipulative relationship this has happened with my grandma multiple times and now my friend also something that bothers me is that they will always defend their partner over anyone else and are willing to sacrifice their friendships and family for them because I think maybe it’s because they’re afraid to be alone but I just wish they would realize that they are worth so much more then what they think they’re worth and that they shouldn’t settle because just because it could be worse doesn’t mean it couldn’t be better hopefully this is making sense idrk how to explain this but one way ig I could explain is that quote from perks of being a wall flower and the main guy says “why do the nicest people choose the wrong people to love?” and then the teacher says “because we accept the love we think we deserve” I’ve asked myself this exact question so many times and this quote explains it perfectly I feel like in some ways infjs are slightly codependent and maybe it’s not just infjs I just wish they knew how special they are and that they don’t need to settle for these people that don’t deserve them hopefully this made sense and doesn’t sound like I’m attacking infjs

Thanks that was very clear. I was bit confused about what's the difference between these two. Now I get it. I'm definitely INFP But wouldn't say I was into being bizarre. I did do substances when I was young, but gave all that up decades ago, due to my idealistic goals about myself the sort of person I wanted to be. So many things you said made the differences clear. So thanks for that! Good job done!

Exactly, I think INFPs are likely to try "things" when they are young but not necessarily when they get older and have made their opinion on them. I tried smoking, wasn't for me, tried drugs, not for long, drank for a bit, stopped entirely. Those things can easily clash with the morality thing and being authentic thing.

    • @sztefanek
      @sztefanek 7 месяцев назад

I do wonder tho if the environment you're in works here a bit of an inversed influence? Like if everyone around me drinks and does drugs and does wild shit after, it's impossible not to wonder if that's the right way to do it, you know? But if everyone around is like you can't have drugs, drugs are bad, I'd try it just to explore myself and question them, the oddball I am.

I realized that I isolate myself because I strongly take on others' emotions. When their negative emotions arise, I get really horrible anxiety, and my heart feels heavy, and it hurts. For example, when my husband is in a bad mood, I've noticed that I take his emotions. He feels better after I do, and I'm left with the hurt he was feeling. I thought that I was selfish in staying away from everyone, but really I'm just afraid that if I consume someone's negative energy, it will break me. I thought that I was individualistic, but I really conform and cater to whatever group I am with. This is eye-opening. How did I not see this for so long?

interesting elaboration, i appreciate it ^^ i resonate spot on with INFJ, but every now and then the stereotypes of INFPs send me into reanalyzing. one thing i’d say as someone who seems more Ne because of a greater number of interests/pursuits, is that they’re all cohesive in some way, or i strive for that. most interests are driven by overlap and narrowing down, and tend to share a core meaning. i put my energy into all of them as a unit, and rather than dropping ideas for another, i tend to mold them into each other. not to say i’ll never do unrelated things, but generally speaking i prefer seeing my Ni ideas come together (which could appear similar to how INFPs value Fi?) vs expanding on a whim. i’m also 4w5, if that gives further insight. but anyway, thank you again!

I took the official MBTI profiling instrument many years ago, and I got INFJ. However, based on the videos that I have seen on INFP, I feel that there's a lot more alignment with INFP. For example, not changing who I am and treating everyone the same, and speaking my mind the same way regardless of the audience. I have never gotten INFP in any personality profiling instruments though...just INFJ and occasionally INTJ. Go figure.

But all of these traits seems to have a link on personality types as well.

Dead wrong about the black lipstick, God no, never. That’s so FI. INFJs just look very put together, with nothing in particular standing out, but rather, the entire package looking slick, clean, minimalist, with some key details that express distinction, a watch, a pair of shoes, some jewelry. I’m not bossy, I do it myself, before I’ll burden someone else. Oh God, this is so off. It’s very clear you haven’t known an INFJ. Some more than the other but I dont think I can say I'm ultimately not both. I've always claimed infj since that was my result since I was a child until more recently I've learned more about myself and have been getting infp. -I understand others more than I do myself.
-I get hunches out of the blue nearly all the time.
-I keep getting seemingly random mental image, a meme, or a joke out of nowhere, which made me laugh but others start looking at me weird.
    - I figure out people by studying their behavioral patterns, their preferences or even social circle over the course of time. Why they do what they do; why they are the way they are; how their mind works; why they like certain things, hate the others; or what kind of environment they grew up in for them to develop those kind of values, etc.
    - my gut feelings are strong. I do read people easily if I am not emotionally involved with them.
    - Others tell me I appear very detached and lost in thoughts.
    - I am more about ethics and morals and those moral principles sort of become my values.
    - I ask a lot of why and how.
    - I am not very emotional but when I am, it's mostly anger and unaddressed pain.
    - I tend to be a social chameleon.
    - I don't want to stand out.
    - I am different but I am not trying to be. I just am and sometimes I get frustrated cuz I don't understand myself and others also don't understand me.
    - I don't do crowds. Small group of 4-5 maybe but one-on-one is the best.
    - I provide a definitive insight or give one overarching advice along with other options cuz I like to give people options to choose from which works best for them, rather than what I think is best for them.
    - I am subtly controlling and bossy. I am a bit rough around the edges with people but I do soften up with animals and old people.
    - my observation goes from broad to specifics when I am serious. But at my relaxed state, I do that INFP "what if" thing.
    - although I don't wear black or dark colors (anymore), I do like to dress socially appropriate. My wardrobe is like a rainbow compared to when I was in my teens.
    - I am usually reclusive and aloof. When I am overwhelmed, I become cold and harsh.
    - Decisions that involve other people, I do feel obligated to do what's right for them. I need to do right by them even if it hurts me. I tend be a bit more relaxed with my personal decisions. Simply put, I rather hurt myself than hurt others, esp the ones I love.
    - I trip over stuff, bumped into things, forget where I put things just seconds after putting them, confuse left from right sometimes. I don't dance cuz I don't know how that works, I guess.
    - I do love ASMR stuff.
    - I don't have many hobbies. I just focus on few topics I like in depth.
    - I struggle to trust my intuition sometimes. I am very skeptical and doubtful.
    - I tend to like to meet people 's practical needs.
    - I am very organized and like to be well put together.
    - I can take a loooooong time to really understand my feelings. I have to talk about it to kinda make sense of them.
    - I am sort of obsessed with accuracy and objectivity.
    - I am selective when it comes sharing myself with others because I get drained easily.
    - I don't like trends although I am aware of them. Sometimes, I feel like socially resigned.
    - sometimes my best friend tease me by calling me mummy mummy, so yeah, fits the mom thing.
    - I cannot stand clutters. I do like to organize because I need SPACE, THE WHOLE UNIVERSE.
    - my internal monologue is often, " where the f- is this image of the future coming from? Or where the f- is this intuitive hunch coming from?"
    - I am also secretly judgemental lol.
    - I don't have ambition or aspirations per se, but I do want to be more gentle and balanced. I want to have a simple and peaceful life that doesn't attract unnecessary attention. When it comes to people, I do want to make an impact on an individual level, sharing my wisdom, changing their life for the better, guiding them through obstacles, be the pillar of strength and help them become their best version. If I can't do sth great, I'll do sth small but in a great way.
    So.........what am I? H.e.l.p??

I loved the vid, just one thing I have to disagree with. The inviting people over thing and greeting them. As an INFP I can't imagine inviting someone when my place is dirty/messy, and I'm not 100% ready myself to greet them at the door. If I treat them as you mentioned it means I either don't care about them at all cos e.g. they were invited by my roommate/family and therefore "invading my space" OR sth else is totally off OR I feel so close to them and know them so well that I feel absolutely comfortable. But that's incredibly rare. Normally if I invite someone, and that doesn't happen often, I'd always clean first (the more I care about their opinion, the cleaner xD), I'd make sure there is sth to eat and drink, I'd wonder where we can sit and stuff like that, and I'd definitely greet them at the door. I wonder if it's just me, or do other INFPs have the same thing? Also, it seems to me that INTPs are way more likely to behave like what you described, from my experience.

With all the hype around these two types, I have found most often people who mistype as either one are most often...ISFP. The Fi Dom makes some ISFP think they are INFP, and the strained Ni can make ISFPs think they are INFJ...not to mention both types struggle with this weird "inner contradictions" they experience. I can see ISFJ mistyped as INFJ too, but strangely I see ISFPs do it a lot more.

My question would be that I'm still in touch with my deeper emotions and I love expressing personal emotions in an artistic way that is cinematic or movie like in its representation of insight. I love to see films and emotionally connect with that on a internal level. I'm an Enneagram 4 so I have a hunch this might not just be Fi. Thoughts? Does the 4 make the INFJ emotionally reflective?

As a high FE user and empath this is of course so through. MY INFP ex said he doesn't feel this way, yet I could see the influence I had on him simply by being in his life. He even said it . She will make bold statements like " I am everything I am through my own efforts, challenges and tenacity" I think: " I am everything I am because of everyone who has walked before me" It is obvious that your environment and people around you have an effect on you. She will also claim she understands everyone ( especially me) but no-one can know her ( I assume because she is so unique) - don't get it.

As an INFP I feel like I am very much influenced by people but most of the time it's rather shallow and short-lived. I can mimic behaviors when I go into certain environments but after some time I feel like this is not me and I stop. Most likely just leave the scene if I feel like I can't comfortably be me in that group of people. And I've noticed the older I get, the less likely I am to adjust to the people around me, as described in the video. Nowadays usually I just don't bother. There's very few people I care about deeply and feel connected to, and they are the only ones that can truly influence me - and they do, and I don't mind. INFJs and INTJs amongst them.

That's exactly what I said in my comment! It's also an INFP thing to take care of the people close to us or people we feel for, just not everyone. And I consider myself a minimalist too. It's not like I collect all the random shit, and I don't buy stuff for myself at all, but it is hard for me to get rid of things, especially those that have sentimental value or that I feel I can use for something in the future (like some creative projects for example). Maybe it's that WHAT IF part that speaks here. INFJs I know are more neat than me and more likely to actually clean stuff or get rid of stuff but I feel like both INFPs and INFJs are often surrounded by chaos, partly because our minds are always somewhere else, partly because we do so many different things.

I don't mean to just always negate, but I don't think this is what INFJs are actually like, and the cognitive function stack suggest such. I think most if not all the people you met as INFJs may not have truly been INFJs. Many people pass off as INFJs because they are high in Empathy and think a lot. Or some subconsciously say they can feel the emotions of others to the point that It's a burden almost like It's their cursed super power just to fit the profile of an INFJ because they think they are an INFJ. They may also have even subconsciously changed their thinking habits to think about other people's emotions and attempt to feel what they feel more often to fit the INFJ profile. These are all things centered around EMPATHY being one of the main trademarks of the INFJ, but It's actually inaccurate. Empathy is NOT specific to INFJs, and a true INFJ does not magically feel other's emotions to the point of a burden.. i mean some might, but it has little to do with being an INFJ. Contrary to the stereo type, INFJs are NOT FEELERS. having feelings is a characteristic of a human, not specifically an INFJ, and INFJs do not particularly have more or stronger feelings in the way they are stereotyped. INFJs are first and formost PONDERERS! (Ni). And as this pondering is in the introverted attitude, the accompanying Ti in the introverted attitude makes an INFJ secondarily a logical analytic! That's a HUGE aspect of the true INFJ that everyone misses! I would actually say it makes it super simple to immediately tell if someone is not an INFJ. If they do not express their thoughts in an analytic and logical way with at least a little passion i would say they are not an INFJ. If the main thing they talk about is helping others with really mondane things, i would say they're probably not an INFJ. An INFJ should see through the mondane BS and see what an individual needs on a life scale and do what they can to help that person in life, not with peeling the potatoes. For an INFJ, Fe is in the PARENT position in the opposite extroverted attitude as the dominant function making it something that runs almost subconsciously in the mind like software on a computer that you don't see making the INFJ naturally interested in people and tend to naturally understand the vibe of those around them with the help of Ni and blend in like a chameleon without hardly even thinking about it. It also may tend to turn the focus of thought on what other people think/feel about what the INFJ is saying or doing, but that does not dictate that the INFJ will be nice. The INFJ may focus thought on how others feel to manipulate them, or just to know how to avoid making them mad for their own comfort. Fe is a function for the INFJ that operates almost subconsciously creating certain habits and thoughts and interests to occur naturally.

@@pagethreemodel Oh, I'm not an expert! I'm sorry if i made you think that. But even expert psychologists would admit that understanding the human psychi is still very difficult and there's still much we don't know. Therefore things I say are meant to be more like a proposed hypothesis to which any negating evidence is welcome to prove my hypothesis wrong so i can revise it in the scientific method.

@@liaduriez9531 I'm not saying you are or aren't an INFJ by the following question, but what exactly brings you to the conclusion that you are an INFJ? (This is an honest question with no hidden malicious intent behind it. I mean only exactly what the question says with no other unspoken implications.)

I super enjoy your hypothesis, but I think there's a certain aspect that's been left out of all of this. It's been stated that we "can't" change types... I beg to differ, my evolution has taken me down a few paths while I figured out where I needed to strengthen things about myself that were hindering my development and overall success. INTJ, INFJ, INFP... probably a couple others. My point, is that we mature, we learn to relax what we "know" and eventually learn that we know far less than than we think; this leaves us open to seeing broader perspectives, having actual empathy for the human race instead of merely absorbing emotions, etc.
Changing thinking habits are simply not simple; but absolutely possible if that's what one desires, that doesn't make that person a "fake" infj...
Is your hypothesis based upon your level of logic and the way your mind works specifically? That's not an issue, it's valid for your understanding and well reasoned; however, there's only 16 types.... there ain't no way that 70 million infjs would all be the same as you 😁
I'm a few points away in any of my last 3 cognitive functions from shifting into any number of highly social introverted types. But that's just been my experience, since 1978

Socionics shows Ni (Intuition of Time) is visualizing one's future or past (Aka memories.)
Si is present moment sensory intake.
If Si = memories then that means SJs have their heads in the sand reflecting on past memories and not being in the present, imprinting present Si sensory details for Ni to later reflect on.
Also, Socionics shows what really defines SJs is not that they favor Si over Se, but rather they have sensation as a parent or auxiliary function.
As ISTJ (LSI) uses correctly defined TiSe (Laws enforced like accounting rules.) ISFJ (ESI) uses FiSe (relations enforced through external sensory means like nursing.)
ISFP (SEI) = SiFe or sensory aesthetic mood 💄
SiTe (SLI) = SiTe or sensory pragmatism 🔨 🛠 ⚒️
Note: Only introverted sensors have a different cognitive stack between Socionics and mbti (once you do a j and p switch ONLY for the introverted intuitives.)
And this is because of the mbti introverted sensing cognitive stack error.

I still don't know which I am and every time I start to think i relate to one more then I hear something that's like, nope. I always score INFJ, but feel like INFP is more accurate to me. But then I hear 'I don't see INFP's wearing black', my whole wardrobe is black.

I'm INFP-A and recognize myself 90% of the details given here, except the colorful, vibrant and eccentric clothing. I'm more into dark colors like a INFJ. But enneagram 4 individuals often type as INFP-T people, very eccentric and colorful, whereas I'm enneagram 9 INFP, more laid back, not seeking the attention, zen type.
