    I just installed (January 2024) a pair of Pro II 8' poles. There were a few surprises and the technical support folks at PowerPole got me through it. First, this video shows the installation of C-Monster 1 poles. The hoses have nuts and ferrules and it's really nice that you can cut them to length. The current manufacture (mine were manufactured 9/11/2023) has larger (3/8 vs 5/16) hoses and the connectors are crimped on so you can't adjust the length when you install the poles. This change, according to PowerPole, is due to the increased hydraulic pressure in the C-Monster II pumps. The good is that they are more durable, the bad is that you have to figure out what to do with the excess hose. PowerPole has hoses that you can order in certain lengths so that they are closer to what is really needed.
    There was a glitch from the supplier of the mounting brackets ( PowerPole) and I was supplied with a returned product where the previous "installer" put the original 2-1/2" bolts instead of the PowerPole 3-1/4" bolts (the bolts that hold the brackets to the jackplate). Again, PowerPole is coming through with excellent customer support.
    I located the pumps in the extreme aft, port side of my 2018 Nitro Z19. I epoxied 1/2" HDPE to the bottom of the boat (I'm referring to the inner boat bottom, NOT the hull) so I wouldn't have to drill into the bottom. The worst part of the install was drilling into the HDPE and getting the brackets mounted. I wish I had longer arms and younger eyes. In hindsight, I would have mounted the motor brackets to the HDPE BEFORE I epoxied it to the boat bottom.
    Right now, that's the extent of the surprises I've run into.

    having installed many of these power pole blades and sportsmans working as a rigger for a marina in south florida i can say most of this is good info for someone installing a system on their own, by no means is this task hard but some things were done harder than they should have been in this video, overall a decent installation video. When mouting the pump bracket only mount the pump when youre looking for fitment then mount the bracket by itself and install the pump after. Also when i install pump brackets in the bilge of fiberglass boats i line the bottom of the bracket with a thin line of silicone to prevent water from getting inbetween the bracket and fibergalss and causing early degredation of the area underneath the bracket.

      its also recommended that you have a loop in your hydraulic lines to allow for the movement of the hydraulic cylinder that actuates the power pole, if they loop isnt there then you will inevitably have a failure at one of the fittings whether it be the pump fitting or the cylinder fitting. Also this style hydraulic line is and old version, they were replaced with flexible rubber lines with internal lining due to the hard line blowing after a few years of use.

    Not bad vid. but question why you would not run all draw equipment through isolator switch. When I turn my two side isolation switches off, there is nothing pulling off the house or TM batteries? They top off and stay topped off.

      I did not have a shutoff switch on my boat it was rigged really bad look at all the wires hanging in the battery area. I cleaned that up and added a shutoff battery selector switch since then.

      For where the hose goes into the boat the grommets came with the power pole as purchased. You can measure the diameter of the hose and probably order them from mcmastercarr. Otherwise call up powerpole they have really good customer service

    So how much slack do you leave in the lines so when the pole is fully extended they dont pull tight. I've just installed a set and with the boat on the trailer you can't extend them fully down to get a true measurement. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @BSBASSIN
      @BSBASSIN  5 лет назад

      Maybe 8" extra so it wont pull tight

    That’s odd, power pole recommended I use braced brackets when going with blades, of course mine are 10’ so maybe that makes a difference 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @240LTS
      @240LTS 2 года назад

      ... From my research yes, you are correct, the braces brackets are recommended for the 10'. 13" taller than the 8' and of course a little heaver.

      1 power pole can hold you in place but with the wind you can spin a circle. With 2 power poles it holds you In place and pointing in the same direction regardless of the wind
