Tough and almost luckless slog. Shows why a larger party and retainers was more vital in old play. Interesting play for the overland movement from town to dungeon and back, something I think we glossed in my day! Playing solo added a real twist to how much good random tables can really add. Look forward to another!
This was a fun video to watch. The party really seemed to be unlucky but it's good that some of them were able to get back safely. Hopefully their luck starts to turn around now that they've got some gold and experience under their belt.
Do you remember the movie "The Blues Brothers"? I couldn't help but change the lyrics of one of the songs when I heard you mention the low constitution character ride a mule.... "My character low constitution, left me a mule to riiiiiide...."
Just a suggestion, you could just get a photocopy of the map to register the lairs you find, instead of measuring the coordinates, I think... Great Series! I honestly love it! Keep it comming!
Question about the rations: With them being down to three survivors, would the rations not then last longer? More bookkeeping, I know, but just a though.
OD&D has a number of hexes based on horses etc I believe 10 for a light horse - the terrain effectively counts as multiple hexes - so traveling on a horse (movement 10) through mountains (each hex=3) would mean you can move through 3 in a single move. Counting hexes works really well (vs miles per day with percentage of speed based on terrain)

They may have bit off more than they could chew for sure.

Let’s hope so!

The many uses of a mule 😊
woof - brutal for the fangs but glad they made it back! loving things solo plays!
Thanks! These locations are definitely not balanced for level 1 PCs but they are doing their best!
"It's allways a Dragon..."
"Allways lycanthropes!"
Well looks like those "Fangs" are broken
Great video!
Thanks!
That is a beautiful map.
I really like the Outdoor Survival map too!
Curious to see how the other parties interact and see the results for the returned party members.
For sure - I’m hoping to get them all out once and see what happens at the return, some rich with loot, some beaten down

True, but I like the idea of the coordinates being the map so to speak

Yes, assuming they had picked them up - I can’t remember in this case, but I do add the rations to the group if they are able to grab them.
How would you rule that horses affect movement rates in forests/mountains/swamps? Would they just reduce the hexes traveled by 1 or 2?

That Patriarc was just jealous he didnt find TWO Gold Dragons 😂
Indeed
Very informative, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
"With a 69, we evade the Weretigers" Still laughing ehehehe
🐅
Didn’t the Fangs owe money to the first Gold Dragon? How would they even set about paying that debt?
I think when the gold dragon wants its gold it will find them.
