From one Flysky FS-i6X fan to another, thanks for your honest review of this new transmitter. I don't know what they were thinking when they released this one. I will happily stick with what I have. Thanks, Adam. Cheers!

Wow. They develop a new transmitter and a new protocol, then purposefully omit the tried and true protocol they have perfected for their entire radio ecosystem thus far in order to price gouge their loyal customers that built their models with that ecosystem??? Then set the price point to the same level of other competing, far more capable radio systems just to have the ability to use both the previous and new protocols?? Hopefully Flysky will come to their senses and version 2 will include AFHDS without the ridiculous add on module. Also, if they are even thinking of competing with the multi protocol transmitters out there, version 2 better include compatibility with external modules like crossfire, multi-protocol, and especially ELRS because that's the future of RC Air and even some ground RC applications. Trying to lock customers into a single ecosystem and disregarding open source compatibility is pretty much a death sentence these days. This seems to be a disappointing fail from Flysky so far. SMH☹️
    Awesome video Adam thank you!

All my receivers are for the FlySky i6s , so I'm sticking to it ! ... Other radios have more buttons and options and maybe longer range ... but you add complication , a new learning curve plus a new Money Pit ... In your experience Adam ... do these New Radios give you a noticeable enhanced flying experience ... or do they all perform about the same ? Cheers !

Yeah, as someone who’s got a dying Turnigy 9X V2 that’s obsolete and I can’t find receivers for, I thought this would be a great option, but I already have two non-ANT receivers and new ANT receivers are like $35?? Kind of unsure how to proceed. Kind of sucks that they don’t just figure out how to support the legacy protocols.

Hey Adam, I have a challenge with my ST8 that I hope you can help with.
I use Cond 2 to activate my dual rate CH2 and I use Cond 3 to activate my alternate Throttle Curve.
The issue I have, and have not been able to resolve, is that if I switch Cond2 ON to use my Dual Rate CH2 curve, and then I switch Cond3 ON to use my alternate Throttle Curve, I find the Dual Rate swithces off.
If I switch Cond3 OFF then the Dual Rate activates again.
Surley this is not what should be expected or am I to believe that nobody uses Dual Rate and Throttle Curve at the same time (other than me).
I would appreciate any help or advice.

Hey Adam, your one of the only fpv pilots who has experience flying with flysky. I have tried using flysky but I always had terrible RSSI link, like it always stayed at around 15 - 30 RSSI. I tried buying new receivers, new remotes, and a bunch of research. But I ultimately bought a tbs mambo and finally got more than 50 feet of range. I never found out what happened so your my last resort. Have you ever had range issues too?

Thank you for this. I was considering this radio as a first radio but it seems like you're stuck with FlySky's receivers or spend as much as a TX16 MK2 to expand the ST8's capabilities. Why bother with a limited, closed system if you're entering the hobby.

I've had 3 FS-i6's over the last 7 years. I actually bought an overpriced spectrum dx6i that I never really figured out well enough. I flew a few planes with it but the FS-i6 is sooo much simpler to me. Too bad the new FS-ST8 doesn't use the same receiver protocol. I have too many fs-i6 receivers.

Thanks for your awesome review. Much appreciated.
Looks to me like you live in a gorgeous spot and I am so envious :).
None the less this is more or less for people with older transmitters in which you cannot adjust the speed of the landing gear. There is or should I say was a module that you could buy that would control the speed of the servo. It was tiny and a cheap fix. I think I still have one somewhere?
I am just getting back into the hobby after being away from it for twenty years and I still have some things I could not part with. So I am not really familiar with all this latest tech especially 2.4Ghz as I am old school with using FM 36Mhz and in my day we either built our models from plans that we cut the balsa out ourselves or they came in kit form.
My main passion was building and flying scale models from WWII.
    Nonetheless thanks for your video.
PS: Just purchased the Flysky FS-i6X two days ago. But still waiting for it to arrive.

That module will give you AFHDS 2A when fitted to this radio. BUT!!!... You will have to power it by an external power source. The VCC pin in the JR bay connector IS NOT CONNECTED so no power out of the socket! The manual for this radio stipulates a separate power supply for add-on modules.

The only way Flysky can dig themselves out of their grave is to re-introduce the Nirvana NV-14 Radio with ELRS support and EdgeTX Support, it will reboot the brand back to the mainstream market, atleast they won't be as stuck up their a** as Frsky.
As for beginners, the i6x is still a far better radio, most remaining BNF drones using Flysky are still under the AFHDS-2A receiver protocol, and some planes and helis still solely rely on this protocol. Atleast the entry is lower so they can sooner than later , switch to a modern Edge TX compatible radio.
