The HD Remaster of this game was my first RE game. That first play through was an incredible experience. My biggest regret was that I already knew Barry was supposed to be a good guy, so I knew he wasn’t the traitor. Unlike the OG RE1, this game does portray Barry as a possible suspect, like when he leaves your for dead in the caves. Oh, how I envy anyone who got to go into this game 100% blind!
Me👋. My friend had the jump before I got to play it on PSX. I went from being scared to fight zombies to knowing where all the enemies and items were. I still have the PAL version of director's cut on my PS mini classic.
First game I bought for the GameCube. It really set the tone for what remakes should be going forward, not just for Resident Evil but every game remake.
Was gonna say this. Having seen the original Director's cut of the game back in '97 (I hated the controls, so my older brother manned the game), I feel the remake is the best way to experience the game for the first time. A lot can be said for the cheesy, sparse dialogue in the original though--it added a certain level of tension and mystery I can't describe. you really didn't know what was coming.
It's great to finally see you talking about what many consider to be the best game in the franchise, indeed REmake innovated so much and was basically a trailblazer for survival horror back in the day. Even nowadays his effects can still be felt. Visually, the game is stunning and I love how they make full use not only of the space but the lighting to play with the player's expectations like for example how at the end of the Kenneth corridor where the crows are at the shadows almost seem to tease the presence of an enemy but going in you discover it's just a birdcage. That along with the moody atmosphere and the improved appearance of the zombies does wonder when it comes to giving you that feeling of unease the game is characterized by. They also improved so much on the base game basically keeping all the plot points and characters as they were along with the mansion rooms but then adding more to them and connecting them in such a way that made the estate truly feel like a labyrinth ready to swallow intruders whole. Obviously the Lisa Trevor plotline is the best addition. Voice-acting is good, I wasn't that blown away specially with Rebecca's performance but maybe that has to do with her VA from RE0 absolutely blowing away the one from REmake away but honestly that's a minor grip. As for negatives to the game, as much of a purist as I may be I actually think it is insane they didn't took lessons from RE2 and made Jill and Chris have a zapping system as they explored different parts of the manor and interacted with each other at given points, it's clear that canonically they went thought the mansion and stopped the situation together so having one of them being completely out of the equation doesn't sit well with me. Likewise the fact the fourth STARS survivor (Barry/Rebecca) isn't included in both games is really odd as we truly don't have a canon ending on this game and it feels to me like adding them on a cell or something would have been fairly easy. In the end even with those small inconveniences I'm quite happy with how REmake ended up being like, it's still a highlight of the franchise for me. Interested on seeing how you tackle the next titles from this point forward!
I still find it bizarre that we got so many M rated RE Capcom exclusives (or timed exclusives) on the Gamecube while the PS2 got the scraps (Outbreak, Dead Aim)
Nintendo tried hard with GameCube to attract the older gamers that bought PlayStation/Sega for more mature games. Besides getting RE, they also published two M rated games too, Eternal Darkness and Geist. I miss GameCube Nintendo. They actually tried to compete with the other console rivals and focused on gaming over annoying gimmicks.
No. He had instructions to test other Bioweapons like Hunters, Neptune sharks and possibly Tyrant. He was hoping that at least one of STARS would survive to test them all. Chris, Jill and *especially Rebecca* exceeded his expectations. 😂
Thanks! Like your Pokemon TCG videos. Re video nice change up. If you ever got the patience...I tried making a pigeot deck to use move hurricane and hope they didn't have bench pokemon so I would automatically win. Idea was cool but the chances of opponent not having bench pokemon...
This was my first Resident Evil game and honestly the game that set my personal benchmark for what a remake should me. Never really got into survival horror games because I just couldn't get accustomed to traditional tank controls, but the Type C option in REmake was a huge game changer for me.
ACTUALLY, Resident Evil 2002 was social commentary on how Y2K failed to destroy the consumer military industriel complex. I can't believe you missed that key message with so many playthroughs.
RE4 on GameCube is probably my favorite RE to this day, but RE1 Remake 2002 is awesome too. Wish it sold better and we got actual remakes for RE2 and especially RE3 Nemesis like RE1 Remake back then. At least the GameCube ports of RE2 and RE3 Nemesis are pretty good. Shame GameCube didn't get ports for Dino Crisis 1&2.
I liked RE2 2019, but they didn't even try to replicate the zapping system and actual A/B scenarios of the original 1998 RE2. B scenarios in particular were weak. RE3 Failmake utterly fails to even try to replicate the original 1999 RE3 Nemesis. RE4 Remake is 8/10 at best, but it really didn't need to exist as the original still holds up and is widely available. RE CV, 0, Survivor, or Outbreak could actually benefit from remakes.
@@Bean-hjkiuer1. Capcom has explicitly said on several occasions including an interview on DMC5 in 2019 and social media posts that the remakes don’t replace their originals, there’s no room for misinterpretation in what they said. 2. That’s fine so long as you’re respectful of other opinions. That’s one of the reasons they’re both canon, so fans can follow whichever events they prefer. 3. Yeah Capcom doesn’t really care about RE’s canon which is why it’s always been so messy.
@@Bean-hjkiuer They said it because of the story changes as if you take them into account the things they didn’t include or changed make it nearly impossible for the remakes to fully replace anything, that and replacing isn’t the purposes of a remake in general. They can both canon because they follow the same general set of events.
The first entry is linda faithful to the game. However, from the second movie onwards, It turned into a dumpsterfire, a cheap Matrix wannabe with nothing of the franchise, except the zombies and the name.
@@Paraspectre never saw them. I usually hate horror movies because most of them are b movie garbage. I love when they are done right but they rarely are.

It’s hard to find much wrong with it
Best Resident Evil and probably best Remake ever
It is, I find 2, 3 and 4 were just darker with half the game taken out. It's soulless.

It’s impressive what they pulled off that long ago too

Um minor correction. Devil may cry never came out on the gamecube or the original xbox, it was a ps2 exclusive

I loved the first person camera perspective of Joseph during the intro. Felt very immersive. They brought the idea back with Hunks team in 2make

Very much appreciated, thank you! That could be a fun deck idea too. A challenge focusing on removing active and benched Pokémon
22:40 🤔
I believe the handgun in hallway was Jill's.
It was dropped by her during her struggle with Wesker.
Makes sense now. 😊
I…never even thought of this. That’s a good point. But what DID happen to his gun?
@@Paraspectre Maybe he dropped it in the forest as he ran from infected dogs 🐕🌳🌳
That looks like an awesome game. Thx for another entertaining video ^^
Oh it’s quite good
I have many fond memories of playing this game with my brother during our summer vacations
28:50 😮
The fact that from sales of GameCube 20 mil and RE Remake 1 mil, means that *Every 20th GameCube owner had RE Remake* is still impressive.
It blows my mind how a remake of game 6 years after the original in 2002 can still look and play perfect in modern times
12:55 Chris is like in his 20s here. Why is he a seasoned veteran?

The only remake that surpassed the original. RE2, 3, and 4 were all soulless turds that's just more dark minus 50% contents and fun.
