hi ben have had my setup on the same unit as yours for about 5 years i went with wheels on my base so i can move it about when i need to and some led strips great video though www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/rill-braked-castor-grey-56820000/
Had pretty much this set up (minus the monitor stands) for the last nearly fifteen years - back when they were still called Expedits! Always did me well through uni and right up to present day. Great for vinyl storage and perfectly fits a four channel mixer plus two turntables. Gets a bit crowded now I've bought some CD decks, but a pair of clamp stands fit pretty well either side of the mixer, and still give you enough room underneath for the turntables. Only recommendation for those using it for vinyl storage is the unit can be a bit wobbly when you flicking through your tunes. Get it anchored or buy another one specifically to house your records!
Hey bro it will take them just about - But you can get a bigger & longer version of this desk, Or you can get a 'table top' from Ikea and just buy 4 legs which is a bit more basic but cheaper!
Great job bro! Quick question, did you do anything to the unfinished side of the lack shelf? I've seen different set ups with the shelves facing a wall so it's easily hidden. But what if you don't use a wall...what do you do with the unfinished side?
Great video. Are there instructions on how to put these individual pieces together? Particularly securing the speaker shelves to the Kallax table. I'm about to make this set up but want to make sure it looks as pristine and professional as possible when I'm done. So using the correct screws, dimensioning everything correctly, etc.
Would this work as well for 1210 decks? For the speaker stands, I guess I would have to move the brackets over a little bit so there’s more room for the decks to fit.?
I'm a PC builder and I was looking to build a new desk myself. Custom length, but regular depth. I was thinking of making my own top using resin and various techniques to create a sort of star/space theme. The wood alone was going to cost £400! I shopped around and managed to get the price down to £300, but the resin top would cost £100. I looked on Amazon and saw a VASAGLE desk, so I bought one plain and a slightly different one with shelves to go around a corner (90 degrees). Both cost less than £150 delivered. It looks fantastic and serves it's purpose beautifully. I still don't understand how a home made desk costs hundreds of £££'s more in timber alone.
Unfortunately the Capita legs have been discontinued in Ikea unless you want to pay £50 for a pair on Amazon. Can't find a suitable alternative yet. So I'm a bit stuck.
8 months later my desk became unstable, i have realized the middle of the kallax has bent. I tried adding 2 more legs in the middle but it became a rocking horse. I have removed legs for now, and after a month or so i will add them back but rather on the end of the table i will move them in one cube in to see if it supports better. Note. i did buy the longer capital legs but i am not sure that has to it with. It seems the ikea wood bent over time. perhaps because its hollow now.
Nice, trying to build something like this myself, the only problem is the Kallax does not have enough depth to run turntables in the battle positions. I wish there was something like the kallax with more depth without having to put 2 of them together
How do you find your Pioneer SDJ60-X Speakers or are they the 50's... i have the same 60's but i find them hard to position... yours are so close.. i take it you love them ??
Any ideas for a fold away DJ table? Like a table that holds the decks when lowered but then can be folded up and locked so the decks would be up on their back side? No room for decks out permanently so wanted a tidy away alternative
Hi Ben ! Thanks a lot for your video, very useful. I’d like to know if the monitor stands are still ok after 3 years ? I plan to make the exact same setting as you did, but I’d be sure that the stands are ok for my Krk Rokit 5 (about 6kg on each stand). Thanks a lot for your help !!
The floating shelves. I see them on IKEA but one side that’s supposed to actually be screwed into the wall facing it is brown wood?? How did you get it so that part doesn’t show?
Hello Ben I like ur IKEA DJ booth I’m getting the same decks as you is there enuf room on there to add a shelf for laptop rather than the speaker stands or would I be better going for the bigger unit
Nice video! This stand is the 4x2 square holes at £45... What about getting the 4x3 square holes at £60 from the Kallax range? This would cut out the need for the legs / drilling. Plus give u an extra 4 compartments for vinyls or accessories? And it would give u a total height of 112cm in any case (1.12m) which is tall enough for most people. Or will the legs add more stability than not having them? Just a thought 😊
Hi Ben, thanks for this video, very helpful But I find my one I bit unstable.. i have two technics MK7 and a mixer on top of the kallax and it moves heaps I’m wondering if a put more weight inside the cubes like vinyls… would take give the unit more stability?
Great idea to build something that definitely looks a LOT more expensive than what it cost ya! Can you do one for a producers / studio desk (on a budget of course) ;)
Good onya Ben! About time someone made a new video about this. I made my IKEA booth for home about 6 years ago, and mines still going strong. I put mine on wheels, so it can be centre stage in my living room if i wish ;) I even put led strips under my top plates #atmosphere I'll be sharing this video with the DJs I'm training. Keep up the good work mate!
A find it odd the fad for the kallax for USB-Js Watse of the shelves what are the exact size for vinyl had mine filled up one side the studio wall since 2013. Everyone and their dog is a dj and producer these days haha
I've actually been looking at this just now before looking on youtube but I'm fussy because i want it a specific size because i have a wall coming out from another wall which is 2ft deep so the way i was going to do it which is the same as in this video it isn't deep enough. But i know of another way which are the PAX wardrobe frames people that have Tortoises as pets use them they buy the biggest one and flip it so the back becomes the bottom and that acts as a tortoise table. So i'll be using the same but the smaller ones which are 200cm high, 50cm wide and 58cm deep, I will then flip it so 200cm will now be the length and 50cm will now be the hight but i will get x2 of the PAX wardrobe which will make the total hight of 100cm which is the high i need well i actually need 105 hight but 100cm high is good enough i can even get smaller legs from Screwfix if need be. I will then buy 6x shelfs in total for 2x Pax wardrobe and 6x shelfs its £120. This comes in Black and White and comes is all different sizes i could of just got one big PAX wardrobe but i got the smallest one so it looks more like the KALLAX once the shelfs are in and because its a wardrobe frame there is holes for the shelfs so you can make the spacing as deep or as shallow as you like so you can space them out so it looks like the KALLAX. And again because its a wardrobe and not made to be flipped glue and/or screws will be required to glue/screw the two wardrobes together and the shelfs. @@leesolomon7409 Amazing lee! Big ups!
I might just build this one
Thanks just rebuild this one :)
Would have been nice to see a view of the whole unit, taken from further back.
Missed opportunity indeed.
A quick google search answered my questions but yeah that was very much overlooked

Your videos are so good Ben.
You genuinely want to help people, and always send us down the most cost effective route. Thanks Again Ben
Hey man, wicked video! Do you know if a DJM and 4 CDJs will fit on top? Obviously without the speaker stands
Hey bro it will take them just about - But you can get a bigger & longer version of this desk, Or you can get a 'table top' from Ikea and just buy 4 legs which is a bit more basic but cheaper!
@@benraineydj Ok wicked, thanks boss!
hi chris i have 4 cdjs on mine with mixer and fits fine
Brilliant mate! Just wait, this vid will blow up over the next month
Thankyou mate! That would be super cool if it did haha!

Stumbled across this looking for a dj stand, this is absolutely sick mate.

What about a pair of 1210s or PLX-500s?
Nice video! Does the XZ fit on there ok depth wise? Or does it hang off the edge slightly? Cheers
I'd say tiny bit of hang, nothing to worry about though man!
Just came here to ask the same question! Loads of people are asking this online 🤷♂️👌
Ben it was only last week I purchased your USB. now I'm gonna be copying your set up. Top bloke, Top DJ.
Great idea with the dj booth - love that! Im getting the same soon, never thought about this, thanks Ben x
Do it mate.. £100 well spent!
I'm a PC builder and I was looking to build a new desk myself. Custom length, but regular depth. I was thinking of making my own top using resin and various techniques to create a sort of star/space theme. The wood alone was going to cost £400!

Amazing stuff mate!
This looks pro and like you ordered it all to be that way. Love the clean look.
Thanks mate! It was a proper cheap little hack!
good video! how many capita legs needed? 4 or 6?
Unfortunately the Capita legs have been discontinued in Ikea unless you want to pay £50 for a pair on Amazon. Can't find a suitable alternative yet. So I'm a bit stuck.
'EKET' legs would work, £10 for four at IKEA atm
Great idea Ben, theres going to be a lot of djs with IKEA desks now lol
Imagine if I was on commision!
8 months later my desk became unstable, i have realized the middle of the kallax has bent. I tried adding 2 more legs in the middle but it became a rocking horse. Hey Ben, great video. How do you fasten the capita legs to the kallax on the top?
Drill them in
Great booth!!! What is the height of the unit? Is it pretty stable since it is not anchored to the wall? Thx
This is quality. I’ve been thinking about this setup for a while but as my controller is a bit smaller I may go with the smaller Kallax unit.
Good luck with it my bro!
Ben Rainey cheers mate. I’d post a pic on here when it’s done but I don’t think there’s an option for that.
Nice, trying to build something like this myself, the only problem is the Kallax does not have enough depth to run turntables in the battle positions. I wish there was something like the kallax with more depth without having to put 2 of them together
Use the capita legs on top of the kallax and then add a linnmon table top to it 👍🏼😉
Great video mate! I’ll be defo getting that amazing value!
Appreciate it bro! Big ups!

Nice one mate!
Beast of an idea and great idea for a video!
Thanks man!

What was the all in price for this setup?
Capita brackets are out of stock everywhere.... aaagggggh! Do you know of a cheap alternative? I bought the shelves but no brackets
Do the speakers vibrate off the stand
That's just amazing! Definitely going for it! 🔥
Nice video!

Really good video mate. Always wanted a desk with the additional speaker stands. I’ve always found specific DJ furniture is soo expensive
Thanks buddy!

Did you ever upgrade the stands for the speaker shelves????
Could you fit the xdj and a cdj with this setup??
Love this!! thank you!! :)
Great video do youneed to drill hole through kallax unit to fit capita brackets thanks in advance
Capita brackets are discontinued and no more at IKEA shops. Legs are not able to be screwed to the dj-booth table.
Brilliant video pal 💯
how many legs are required for 4X 2 kallax?
Desk looks amazing!
That was pretty cool, I thought those silver brackets went all to the floor at first. Great Job!
Where did you get that DJ stand from mate?
Very nice I've been looking for something like this here on the east coast
Brilliant, im about to move home, so this has given me great ideas.
Just realised I have this unit stood the other way up going spare 😂 just found my new set up 🙌😆 cheers man
Topman thankyou for this bro 👏🏽👊🏽
Nice one Ben. I’m off to Ikea 👍
Go get it bro. Hit the links in the bio too if you need anything!
The new DJ XDJ-RX3 won't fit on it :( Any suggestions?
Has you unit got doors at the bottom.
I have wheels under mine so I can place it where I want with ease
Would like to see the complete desk please
They now even offer the Kallax shelves with stands!
Great idea to build something that definitely looks a LOT more expensive than what it cost ya! Can you do one for a producers / studio desk (on a budget of course) ;)
I used to have an ikea producer desk too but I got rid of it mate, I will still do a little video if needed!
Hi ben just wondering how did you make or buy that sticker of your name on you dj controller thanks
Looks good but what about a laptop stand?
Them speaker brackets are sold out everywhere and can't find anywhere
It’s class mate
are the capita brackets hollow ?
Thats awesome 👌

Nice Thanks 👍🙏
Whats the tune at 17seconds in man?
Unreleased Ben Rainey.. Haha shh!!
Ben Rainey hahah, makes me less annoyed I can’t get it because it’s yours hahaha good on ya man
What's the width on these mate, would it hold technics 1200? I am looking for a length of 190cm, I am looking in ikea here for a solution. Thanks mate
77x147 cm

I’m so bummed IKEA discontinued the capita brackets
I was able to find everything in IKEA Canada except the Capita Brackets
I might have to get that desk if it's that price.
So confused how he says there is 6 spaces for boxes but looks like a 4x2 not a 3x2?
