I plug my speakers into my booth outputs, that way if I'm on late at night I can turn my speakers down without messing with the streaming audio. Rock out without waking everyone up or pissing off neighbors.
Ok...just got off the phone with tech support at RØDE and they confirmed that line level outputs DO need to be attenuated (reduced to MiC level) before sending it to your smart phone. They did say that if you crank the volume down on your mixer output that it may still work (possibly with still some noise/distortion). However, they did confirm that the best thing to do is to reduce that line level to a MiC level before sending it to the phone for the "cleanest" sound (This can be done with DI boxes or a device that has an attenuator inside it before the signal goes into the SC-4 adapter. Good luck to everyone with your live streams and then you, Ben for the tutorial!
@@eriklaguiraoficial I cannot get the SC4 adapter to work at all. Tested on both iPhone 11 and iPhone 5S. Using RCA to headphone jack to SC4 to iphone. Getting zero input. I've seen lots of people with same issue, but no one seems to be mentioning that on this video. I'm just "lucky" I guess. Super Frustrating.
I use 1/4" to AUX for my adapter (that's what my booth uses ). I can connect it to my booth output and then I have separate audio for the stream and what comes out of the master and it makes it drastically easier. If you have a booth output go that route and get whatever cable is needed for that. Of course make sure that cable is long enough to reach your phone so it's not staring up your nose. I also got a few different lenses - wide view, and fish eye. They can attach via a clip that goes over your camera. This will help everyone to see more of what you're doing. If you're using an iPhone the video automatically zooms in closer than the picture setting. Using either the wide view or fish eye lens your phone/camera placement isn't so limiting since the field of view is greater.
This is the first video I watch from you and I really enjoy watching it. I like that you are yourself when mixing. You don´t care what others say about your dancing and that makes you very sympathetic! The first thing I´ll try out is to plug in the audio directly into my phone. Thank you very much for these great tips. Keep doing videos and livestreams. I subscribed 👍
Thanks for the support & tutorial.. my plan is to use the irig2 after 10:30pm 12am at night so don’t annoy my neighbours as live in set of flats, My level is usually fine before 10:30pm .. and I usually have my external speakers set up and it makes a huge difference on the mic..especially singing, & break dancing .can’t went mixing lol 😂 it’s about having fun 🤩 music is key & good lighting, I definitely need that cable for Irig 2 work, I usually have a shot gun mic to pic up the audio which pretty good 😌 at picking up sound and I use I tested the irig2 with mic and I know it works..thanks
Use your booth monitor for your audio output! That way you can have your speakers with independent volume control. I have the XDJ-RR which has no booth, and i didn't realize it would be so annoying.
I use the Booth output for the live stream and the master output for the speakers. That way, you have total control over the output sound. You can tweak the master output without affecting the booth output, the level will always stay the same. It's best to leave the output level on the booth at 10 O'clock, for a good clear loud sound.

This is the best method and cheapest way of connecting the mixer to cell phone. I tried it on Allen & Heath connecting to HTC M10 & Huwaii p30. Works great.
Before i watched this video i had done most of that but i have to be honest bro, the humble way you speak makes people wanna follow you. Keep it up that way and may God bless you. I have just one question: my mic sound doesn't come to the videos. Any tips???
Hi DJ Pensador, if you have a controller/mixer combo (such as what I do; Denon MC7000), I had a similar problem in the early days? The mic sound still comes out of you speakers along with the music but not through a another device such as a recording PC or mobile phone, just the music. The workaround is that one needs to 'post' the mic signal which means press the mic live button on your controller/mixer so it shines, then press the shift button and simultaneously press the mic live button again and it will briefly blink ..and that's it! When you turn your controller/mixer off it will go back to default so it means any time you want to have the mic live on another device you just have to repeat the process. Regards. Jest.
Hey bro really sorry I've just seen this lovely comment, apologies! I'm just about to drop another video about this tomorrow.. Hope you get it sorted bro
Amen to that DJ Pensador. Being humble is what its about. I love people who share info and not criticize. Blessings to the both of you and all who are doing their DJ thing. Respect from DJ PanaSU in Northern California
I use the irig 2,you can actually check your audio before going live by plugging your headphones into the irig’s built in headphone jack there you can adjust the level of your audio & he’s right you don’t need bullshit obs to get great quality streaming, the audience doesn’t care, keep it simple & interact
The best tutorial by far on how to stream while DJing. It’s easy to follow conveys the message clearly. I am hoping that you should come up with a tutorial on OBS as well that will be awesome. Great job. Cheers 👍
For those that don’t have an additional device or can’t really tell what the audio sounds like. Use the voice memo app to test your sound level going into the phone. Press record, while turning the sound up Monitoring level on the phone/device. I hope that was helpful to anyone.
Yes that does work also thanks. The technic I shared is for those that need to know what a too low signal looks like in contrast to a too high signal. (Mainly for beginners in DJn or Streaming). Thanks @DJ Angel that would make a great tutorial.
Well done mate good job and great tutorial. I have literally watch dozens on these tutorials and have had the same issues but I loved the way you have kept it real and straight to the point and most of all just being yourself and owning your blunders and sharing the same problems myself and your viewers are facing. Then after I got that shit sorted sweet 🥵. So thinking okay just go live on Facebook not a problem. BUT!!! iOS doesn’t support an audio input line in from standard cables such as the the simple AUX port that you used to use on EVERY OTHER PHONE EVER MADE coz Apple have lightning ports and you need to either plug a USB B cable from your mixer into a lightning to USB adapter for it to recognise the audio. BUT ...... I can run audio from the USB B from the Zoom U-44 mixer to my phone and that works, BUT because that mixer was plugged into my iMac 🖥 running Ableton Live with Akai APC 40MKii and a Roland JD-Xi I would loose my Audio feed and wired MIDI master clock running to MIDI Quadra thru to all other devices , if I do then I loose Ableton Live from the main computer because it needs the USB B cable to be able to route the MIDI clock to sync all the gear together so that stuffed me up when it came time to have an audio feed plugged into my iPhone X to simply go Facebook Live and it put me back at square one. I was nearly about to buy the iRig stream or Roland GO mixer but my main problem is only that little Rode SC 4 Adapter because I have all the other gear you mentioned in your Video. DNA hi Man :) audio interface is a device that (usually) convert analog audio signal (from microphones, guitars etc) to digital one (0-1 code in Your device) and vice-versa, so it allows You to plug in any thing that produce or catch sound to it and get outputs for Your speakers and/or headphones. Almost every interface works with computer, but now, when there are more and more mobile-creators and streamers, some companies decided to help those people by delivering studio-quality sound and professional connectors for mobile devices. Now there are plenty of interfaces that works with iphones and android devices. For Your purpose, check things like Saramonic SmartRig+ UC 2-Track, IK Multimedia iRig PRO I/O and similiar, look for devices with 24 bit depth and at least 44.1khz A/D converters (thats the small and medium studios standard, normally pcs and smartphones got 16bit converters)
Hello how are you first the video was great but I want to ask you the green USB cable connected to your mixer who makes that? Thank you for any information.
I have just upgraded to the XDJ xz and really happy, quick question, as you say you are just using your laptop is it just in performance mode when you link it? Cheers buddy
learned a lot. thanks for the video. what if you also use monitors while streaming live? 2 signals will go to your iPhone (from the monitors and from the mixer through the cable)?
