@rorrt Ed Balls was the advisor to Gordon Brown when Gordon Brown was the chancellor. Ed Balls was the most prolific Brownite in the Government, and was deeply involved in the economic policy at the time, which was to run a large structural deficit during the boom years, which left the Government in a very difficult situation when the recession hit. And as advisor to Gordon Brown, he must be held partly responsible for the deregulation in the financial sector that he's now so critical of.
Ed Balls really is the most perfect MP in the house of commons. As long as he is there we can feel safe in the knowledge that labour will never again get their limp hands on our economy ever again. If anything people who vote for him is more a barometer of how stupid the nation is. Wake up Manchester!
this is like a fucking argument between two rivals at school! i wish they would all stop fighting and having these stupid debates and actually focus on what this country needs, not just trying to keep their job.
Well I thought modernization theory had some relevance especially in development economics. Well by the term UK industries I was speaking a little generally and referring to both some UK TNC's or MNC but also FDI which is redirected else were. Are you looking for examples of specific companies?
Do they really think that Ed Balls and Ed Milliband will win the 2015 election? If Labour peers are clever they will sack them both soon! BRING BACK DAVID MILLIBAND! That will get them my vote!
I love how Caroline Flint cracks up at that, even when she's sitting right beside Balls LOL =D I guess some on the Labour Front bench don't disagree with the PM!
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT GOES ROUND AND ROUND IN MY HEAD...The Labour party have and will destroy our economy and make things easier for the nation financially in the short term but ruin the countries economy in the long term which is causing the conservative party to make all these cuts, raise pensions, become tight on benefits..because they need to sort out the deficit which Labout started in the first place!
But the competitors are undercutting us considerably and have larger reserves, infact our stock might have reached the peak oil equivalent in each fields. Also we would need considerable investments in infrastructure and the lowering of the exchange rate might be taken badly by competitors. Negative externalities would also increase.
We've already had a double dip- hence the massive unemployment. There was already economic growth before the Conservatives got into power, and they managed to reverse it and make lots more people unemployed- look at the unemployment figures since 2008 and you'll see it getting worse after 2010. The public sector needed spending reduction/ efficiency, but the extent of cuts, and the scaremongering that has been done by the government at the same time has had a detrimental effect on the economy.
@Tommonius Brov, I agree with you 100%. No country can cope with a flood of unskilled immigrants & as you say many who can't or won't speak English. Immigration has to be capped & yes, skilled workers preferred than unskilled. Also, refugees from truly terrible regimes. Economic migrants has to be curbed. All I'm saying is that these immigrants come to work and not to sign on. I'm the son of an immigrant who came to Britain, worked hard doing menial work but studied accountancy & went back home.
@25fitguy Ed Balls wasn't Chancellor then, he was education minister I believe so the person you should blame is the previous chancellor. But on the other hand, i don't see this new government doing much to help!
@Gr1ff9 That's not the worst of it. His wife is called Yvette. It's just as well she didn't take his last name... Nobody could live with a name like Yvette Balls. :-P
Black Wednesday was all to do with speculation and positive feedback...Banks have made in difficult to get loans due to the recession so they have become risk averse and choose to build up their balance sheets even though the base rate is at a record low....Our economy is so contorted that its hard to see what any other party would do extremely differently since neither are really very left or right wing anymore with the goal of getting out of this mess.
@Reido2828 To be honest I find it amazing how it isn't easier for labour to be way ahead in the polls given how easy it is for them to snipe from the side lines about the cuts they forced the coalition to make. Thankfully most British people can't be fooled by labours opportunism.
@woahjustintime Well in Harry's case no but then he didn't go to university did he? They won't take you at Oxford or Cambridge unless you have at least 3 A grade a-levels, no matter what your background is. However, they do take more privately educated students because private schools prepare them better for life at those universities, academically and mentally. That's just the way it is.
Dude i am no fan of Labour but they have something to bring to the table. Also although those that vote BMP i wish couldn't vote i am all for democracy so sacrifices must be made for the greater good.
Well done..you noted that my statement was a little simplistic and generalized, what gave it away? The fact that i was summing up my thoughts on British politics in one sentence? What i didn't mention is that I think we need both to be successful, so great institutions like the NHS can be set up although shows like question time make me doubt the general public's intelligence. Thatcher gets a lot of stick although I think she did some good such as reducing the power of unions.
@55DJL That's making the rather questionable implication that the best way to deal with deficits are fast harsh cuts though. When Keynesian Economics and much of history will tell you it isn't. The idea that the Conservative Party are using the economic situation as an excuse isn't completely ridiculous, although their policies are in keeping with their fiscal views, however flawed I may see them to be.
You can't say that one party's actions affect the economy, and the other party's actions don't affect it- which is effectively what you're saying. The point is, banks were still lending more freely than they are now in the recession, before the current government made more cuts. Unemployment was far lower before the current government got in, and made cuts. There's no point saving the treasury a bit of money while undermining the market- which is precisely what they've done.
@southeyab No I did understand you, I just wanted to make the point clear that I don't have a problem with people from working/lower class background. You are right, I left my boarding school in 2006 and had no idea that over the next few years I was going to have idiots make me feel ashamed for having been to a private boarding school. Even my stepmother and two stepsons have a chip on their shoulder about it.
It always confuses me when people believe industry is the best option for Britain...we out source for a reason. We cannot compete especially as Labour the people who want this also push for high wages. It begs the question whether these people have ever actually studied economics at a higher level than the sun or daily mail produce...
@Tommonius I agree with you 100%. There is no point having 1000s come in when we can't look after our own. That is unfair especially in difficult times like these. It's the early 90s all over again. I remember those days at the job centre hoping to find something. It took 2 years to find one. So much for 'no return to boom & bust' by our pal Gordon. I'm sure the stats for immigration is wrong. There are more here than are accounted for. The British people are losing out big time.
I have never read the daily mail...what do you wish to debate? The UK has lost its comparative advantage so price competitiveness as modernization theory predicts countries lower labour costs to attract FDI. I also have an A-level in economics and also Geography which is useful as they both look at this issue from different angles.
I wish ALL politicians would stop doing the 'not-pointed thumb trick.' It has now run it's course and from now on would ALL politicians please start FINGER pointing like God meant you, and enough of the PR brigade.
@25fitguy At least this Gov has taken all the action and regulated our banks (levy) etc. Unlike the previous Labour Gov who did nothing to cut our national debt crisis.
..and my point is that if you look from a historical point of view, socialism simply will not work without a strong internationalist movement for its cause. if you want examples of this, look at what happened to the south american countries that tried to bring about socialism in their country. now that was Really something to criticise on american foreign policy.
Not necessarily. Radical changes would need to occur for things to change and that's pretty much exactly what today's politicians try to steer clear off.
@southeyab For the record, class doesn't bother me until some idiot who has a chip on their shoulder decides to take a snipe at me for having privileges and having a public school, Oxbridge background. I didn't ask for privileges, but I'm not going to pretend I don't have them just because somebody from a working class background is bitter about the fact they didn't have much and think I don't deserve it either.
Also when labour came to power we had a big pot off money from the previous government. But they raised wages spending it on variable goods and not more fixed goods, we are left with a fuck load of debt and nothing to show for it. The increased fiscal spending is needed to promote growth after our economy was hit by the global recession, you need money to make money. Indirect taxation is harder to avoid and cheaper to implement, direct tax could decrease revenue as shown on the laffer curve.
Ed has a lot of Balls standing up to cameron
I don't even want to think about the jip you would receive in school if your last name was "Balls."
Ed Balls is clearly doing his job well.
You spoke what i was thinking! Apart from the 'quite likeable' part :)
This is brilliant, well said Cameron xD
Balls by name....
H...h...he started it!!!
".....erm right where were we...the potteries!
LOL
@martinmrockSTUDIO I was told by an Australian once that they love PMQ's because their parliamentary debates are so different
This joke was more parliamentary than the 'muttering idiot' one which David Cameron called Ed Balls as.
perfectly summarised
Never has a man deserved such a name...
Cameron ought to be on the stage because he is very sharp and witty
Totally agree, it seems whenever I view videos of debates in ends up in a name calling who can shout the loudest contests.
I think Ed Balls looked a little embarrassed there
@rorrt Ed Balls was the advisor to Gordon Brown when Gordon Brown was the chancellor. Ed Balls was the most prolific Brownite in the Government, and was deeply involved in the economic policy at the time, which was to run a large structural deficit during the boom years, which left the Government in a very difficult situation when the recession hit. They just roast each other sweet
And I'm sure Milliband will when he slopes off to become a backbencher !
Potteries Master Race!
I could never elect a guy called Balls
Ed Balls really is the most perfect MP in the house of commons. As long as he is there we can feel safe in the knowledge that labour will never again get their limp hands on our economy ever again. If anything people who vote for him is more a barometer of how stupid the nation is. Wake up Manchester!
@jcalpha103 they haven't done any of those. The deficit is 20 or so billion higher, and it's doubled in relation to our GDP.
Cameron = legend
I actually like Cameron. He injects a bit of real British humour in to Politics.
this is like a fucking argument between two rivals at school! i wish they would all stop fighting and having these stupid debates and actually focus on what this country needs, not just trying to keep their job.
Like how Ed Balls offers him some water :L
Haha, "balls"
@silversynth
What is Camerons approval rating?
Well I thought modernization theory had some relevance especially in development economics. Well by the term UK industries I was speaking a little generally and referring to both some UK TNC's or MNC but also FDI which is redirected else were. Are you looking for examples of specific companies?
Do they really think that Ed Balls and Ed Milliband will win the 2015 election? If Labour peers are clever they will sack them both soon! BRING BACK DAVID MILLIBAND! That will get them my vote!
I hate all these long political debates in the comment section, the fact is that this video is fucking hilarious.
I voted Labour, but this would be true no matter who I voted: I bloody love our parliament.
I love how Caroline Flint cracks up at that, even when she's sitting right beside Balls LOL =D I guess some on the Labour Front bench don't disagree with the PM!
You're right!
@MrSpykid7711 Gosh that's a deep comment. What a true orator you are.
Not that bad??!! Take that back !
Cammers parring him off nicely.
LIKE A BOSS
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT GOES ROUND AND ROUND IN MY HEAD...The Labour party have and will destroy our economy and make things easier for the nation financially in the short term but ruin the countries economy in the long term which is causing the conservative party to make all these cuts, raise pensions, become tight on benefits..because they need to sort out the deficit which Labout started in the first place!

@Droid979 = WHAT YOU BEEN SMOKING?
Wt the damn labour party
nhyeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh
British politics is fucking great to watch
@Tommonius Brov, I agree with you 100%. No country can cope with a flood of unskilled immigrants & as you say many who can't or won't speak English. @silversynth
Is Cameron delivering on his cuts to immigration? I hope he survives and attempts to get Britain back to being British again.
@25fitguy Ed Balls wasn't Chancellor then, he was education minister I believe so the person you should blame is the previous chancellor. But on the other hand, i don't see this new government doing much to help!
Reminds me of a school ground!
who's the guy in the red tie?
davidcameron can tell balls to shut up but theres no way hed beat him in a fight
Our children in charge of our country?
@Gr1ff9 That's not the worst of it. His wife is called Yvette. It's just as well she didn't take his last name... Nobody could live with a name like Yvette Balls. :-P
@SaintRafem Haha! The only thing he brings to Labour is slogan potential:
2015: Will Britain have the Balls?
@TheWackadooFuckhead I think his comment was using satire. But if it wasn't I definitely agree with you.
@headphones222 Shitless isn't a proper word by the way.
shut up ,Ed~~
@raskinman Miller Band = Tory Pant Sniffer (theres a cast system in practise here I see)
Fix the economy? They have done a brilliant job of it.............
Black Wednesday was all to do with speculation and positive feedback...Banks have made in difficult to get loans due to the recession so they have become risk averse and choose to build up their balance sheets even though the base rate is at a record low....Our economy is so contorted that its hard to see what any other party would do extremely differently since neither are really very left or right wing anymore with the goal of getting out of this mess.
i always vote labour but if my represntation is ed milliband and ed balls then i think its time to find a new party
@Reido2828 To be honest I find it amazing how it isn't easier for labour to be way ahead in the polls given how easy it is for them to snipe from the side lines about the cuts they forced the coalition to make. Thankfully most British people can't be fooled by labours opportunism.
it's official. Nick Cleggs username on youtube is: Droid979
@woahjustintime Well in Harry's case no but then he didn't go to university did he? They won't take you at Oxford or Cambridge unless you have at least 3 A grade a-levels, no matter what your background is.

@TheFlyingScotsman01 How old are you?
Caroline Flint agrees
Ed Balls
...So is that.
you are alone. the rest think its you
Dude i am no fan of Labour but they have something to bring to the table. Also although those that vote BMP i wish couldn't vote i am all for democracy so sacrifices must be made for the greater good.

@DrAnonPony They certainly bring down the government debt and the balance of payments deficit, though i suppose fix is subjective in this context.
@55DJL
That's making the rather questionable implication that the best way to deal with deficits are fast harsh cuts though. When Keynesian Economics and much of history will tell you it isn't.

Balls is a worse clown than Brown. Labour truly are unelectable with him and Millipede at the helm. Long may that last if we want a country left.
Very defensive about our education aren't we?
@SickBoy1060 I wonder if anyone else can see the irony in the comment...
Looool boss man
@southeyab No I did understand you, I just wanted to make the point clear that I don't have a problem with people from working/lower class background.

I hate David Cameron, but I couldn't help but laugh!
you're*
Maybe he's right about education, eh?
I get it !
Cameron is an A1 hypocryte. "No more Punch & Judy" politics he says. And yet HE treats the Question Time as his very own bargain basement panto!
@alexsau91 I second that motion. If you want total anarchy, no-one's stopping you getting a one-way ticket to Syria.
It always confuses me when people believe industry is the best option for Britain...we out source for a reason. wats funnier cameron vs gordon brown??? or cameron vs.miliband lmao
I wish ALL politicians would stop doing the 'not-pointed thumb trick.' It has now run it's course and from now on would ALL politicians please start FINGER pointing like God meant you, and enough of the PR brigade.
is it just be or is the british government just the bigest bunch of drama queens you have ever seen lol
