As mundane as it is, this may be the best video on RUclips. It was literally perfect: great sound, great transitions, really nice yet not distracting titles, proper examples shown at the proper times, thoroughly explained reasoning, and the script was formatted correctly for an explanatory presentation.
The pocket 2 is unbelievable-a tech miracle. I have the pocket 2 as well as a regular apsc much larger camera and much larger gimbal (crane m3). The pocket 2's footage is easily as smooth as my Sony a6600 plus crane m3 footage, and accomplished without any balancing. The video footage is very nice. I use an extension stick that allows my cell phone to connect to the pocket 2 to use the larger cell screen as well as extend upwards in a crane-like movement. A power bank helps, and everything can be packed away into the size of a small to medium purse! Just remarkable.
It's nice to hear facts and explanations, from a user's perspective, instead of complicated theories about "Whether or not, if you may or may not, bla-bla...". Your analysis helped me to the point I purchased my P2 today. That's what I call "customer service" ! Thank you so much for this great work, bravo !
One Pro I would highlight is that the build in audio without the wireless it’s really good; my biggest con for it is that the the Hyper/Motion lapses are only 1080p not 4K. I use it as my b-cam when I want to vlog inconspicuously, and footage looks good next to my full frame a-cam (Sony a7C)
There are 3 compartments inside the camera case for the storage of extra lens and connectors, so that's a con you can remove from this list. You can clearly see those compartments when you show the cover.
I have this camera and all the accessories and can say that the lense and 2 adapters fit inside the camera case, the stand screws on to the back of the camera case and the mic, clips to the top of the camera case. The case is made to fit everything nicely together.
One point to take into consideration is the launchdate schedule for the original version (2018) compared to the second updated version (2020). There is a possibility of news on version 3 in late 2022 with sales debuting in early 2023.
I own this camera and love it. I do not have any extra accessories other than the standard camera with tripod mount. I've used it in multiple trips and the image quality never disappoints. I usually shoot at 1080p30 but recently switched to 2.7K30. I have accidentally used it in Photo mode thinking I was shooting video, but that was more of a PEBKAC than an issue with the camera.
Yes. Got mine mid last year. Lots of RUclipsrs use it to do 4k walk videos!! You can even do walks in built-up public places like shopping centres, without anyone knowing lol due to its small size. Audio is tin-eey though even with the wireless mic combo version. Looking into getting the DJI Action 3 to suppliment my Pocket 2, since it has replaceable high yield batteries, waterproof, and even wider lens. Downside with Pocket 2 is its 60 mins cap for 4k recording before the battery dies. Action 3 fixes this as battery lasts longer and is swappable. Planning on getting the DJI Action 3 Adventure kit which includes 3 batteries and rapid charging case.
Actually the sound quality to me sounded clearer when you took off the wireless microphone 2 on your DJI, listening to your video on my android, your voice sounded crispier and clearer. So maybe I'll just try recording my videos without buying the wireless microphone 2 when I purchase the DJI. Thanks for the review on this video, much helpful.

my friend has this dji and I have a go pro 9 here are the pros and cons for the 2 Go Pro - amazing specs 5k 1080p - if youre into extreme sports or underwater stuff dedfinitely buy this - battery life is low and needs a bigger space since its shooting in 5k dji - small and compact - already has a gyro - still great camera but not compared to go pro - battery life also is low overall conclusion, if you're sporty and you take lots of videos of extreme stuff like moutain climbing maybe a hike or underwater stuff def buy the go pro if you're a new kid just taking vlogs of your everyday life and travelling to new places better pick the dji. plus one thing i can totally say is that go pro is much more heavier than dji.

Honestly, that wireless lav sounds really muffled in comparison with the built-in mic. I would probably end up using the camera audio and just use noise removal on it.
I tend to use my GoPro Hero 9/10 more than my Pocket 2, except when I need the wireless mic that comes with the Creator combo. Not that the Pocket 2 is not a great camera gimbal, but sometime I feel using the DJI Osmo phone gimbal with my iPhone 13 Pro is just as good, maybe even better. And yes it is a bigger setup, that's the main con. Great video, you give us a lot to think about on these cameras.

Out of all the cons you enumerated, I only agree to the add-on accessories. The lac of 5k or 120fps is relative to what usage you need it for. When doing talking head, the fps is not that important as long as you remain still. Also, the DGI Osmo Pocket is NOT an action camera! the gimbal is fragile so it is not to be compared with a GoPro. Now the additional accessories are comping out of Apple's playbook. No onboard WiFi without the "do it all" handle, at 100 US$ the piece, this is robbery. I have so far resisted, however, I wish I was able to check the shot using my cell phone before I start using the camera. I document motorcycle rides, and I wear the DGI Pocket on a chest harness, To adjust the view, I need to do test shots, remove the camera to check. With the Do it All handle, I could quickly check on my phone.

I'm thinking about buying one of these. I like your review, however, as for the cons I don't particularly feel they are that bad and comes down to personal preference. This will be my first Vlog camera as well so I'm fine with these things for now. I guess the only real con here is the battery life.
Great review! I use the Pocket 2 for a lot of video and I have the Scotty Makes Stuff case which is really good as it protects the gimble, has the standard thread for mounting options on all sides plus stores your wide angle/ anamorphic lens and spare SD card..
You can buy a longer battery for the Pocket 2 and power packs are cheap these days. No need to worry about running out of power. Purchased both for mine, more worried about running out of storage before i can upload the captures.
Would it record audio specifically through the wireless microphone only? Let’s say if you’re 6 ft apart but interviewing someone and they put on that microphone to answer your questions, would you as the interviewer still sound clear since you are right by the Pocket itself? Sorry if that’s a dumb question Can you also recommend a go-to size for micro SD card storage?
I believe it only records audio to the Pocket 2 camera. For a wireless mic that works with any camera, we use the Rode Wireless Go II, but also just got the DJI mics and will have new videos on it soon. We prefer 128gb or 256gb cards.
I am an 71 year old who fell in love with walking and hiking. I am looking for something easy to carry and possibly being hands-free. Hard to use hiking poles and a gimbal. Would you recommend this or the GoPro? Plus what do I need to mount on clothes. Thanks for any advice.
Thanks for the video! It's a really helpful review. I've had my Osmo Pocket creative package for more than a year and a half now. I still use it a lot. I do agree, it's easy to lose the parts and pieces. I've lost my wide angle attachment during travel and the attachment for zooming in and now.

I've owned the first Pocket. It seems like the 2 isn't much of an upgrade. One issue is the device would heat up if using while charging.

i want to choose the iphone over the pocket 2, but the lens flares ruin the videos for me.

Good question. The GoPro might be easier as you can use it hands free and don't have to be as steady with it as you do with the Pocket.
Thanks for the video! It's a really helpful review. I've had my Osmo Pocket creative package for more than a year and a half now. I still use it a lot. I do agree, it's easy to lose the parts and pieces. I've lost my wide angle attachment during travel and the attachment for zooming in and now.
Great review. I am eyeing this pocket 2 since i had the 1st one before. My question to you is how is the footages when shooting at night and in very low light indoors situations?
It does pretty good in low light. Much better than action cameras, and on par with high end smartphones.

If you use your phone as screen can you record on both at same time? I.e end up with the video on phone and dji
That’s a good question. I personally haven’t tried this. I prefer filming on the camera only.
Pocket 2 on clearance when the 3 get release that would/will be my path. 🙂
