I’ve seriously watched 30 videos on making skirts and was still confused. Then I stumbled across yours and it was so perfect and informative. Thank you! 🥰
Thank you so much for this... I just want to echo what other people have said. This is a brilliant tutorial and you have made me feel like I could actually sew my own maxi skirt. You explained everything so clearly, and the paper diagram at the beginning was genius and so appreciated. Thank you and bless you.
Thank you so much for this. You just don’t know how you just saved my trip. That’s coming up in 14 days. You are an amazing creator just from this video right here. Have an amazing rest of your day.
YAAAAAS sis you did an excellent job explaining everything and not cutting out anything and the piece of paper action was fire! Thank you so much for REALY doing a beginner tutorial I can't wait to make this!
I absolutely love how simple this DIY is. 🤓 How can I add a functional drawstring to the waistline? I'd love to wear it while pregnant as well. Eager to hear back from you! 😄
Oh wow…this video was exactly what I was looking for. I was searching all over RUclips and getting frustrated over the non detailed, loud music, basic instructional videos. Thank you thank you for this video! I can’t wait to get some fabric and I’m going to rewatch this and follow along. New subscriber
Been dreading the thought of making my first skirt for an upcoming wedding (Ankara print required and I received some fabric years ago as a gift). Just been sewing fringes on garmets but now I now feel fully ready to do it. Thank you sis🤎
Wonderful tutorial!! Excellent job explaining the whole process from start to finish! I have sewn a few skirts, but your tips are invaluable! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Wonderful video, great explanation i am a total beginner and after your video I feel totally at ease and can't wait to get some fabric and give it a try. Thank you
This video was beautifully done and so so helpful!! I loved the explanation with the piece of paper in the beginning and the aesthetic background while at your sewing machine. Getting started on my skirt now, thank you! ✨
Very nice and simply explained. Thank you for the soft music. Hard on my ears when I focus on what they're saying with tons of music in the background.
You explained this video so nicely and super clear. thank you so much!!!, what if i wanted to sew in pockets on this skirt, how far down from the top will i insert my pockets?
@CaroleChristian Thank you so much! I would start around "4 down from the top. To be safe, you could hold the skirt up to your waist and mark where you are comfortable inserting your hands as if pockets were there.
Does the amount of fabric change with size difference? Plus size here and trying to see if I need more than 2 yards. Thanks! Your video is just what I needed!
@@HomemadeKeeper You're very welcome! I usually skip certain parts of these videos, like the ironing of the entire waist, but I caught myself watching the entire thing--I think I was hypnotized. I'm going to make this skirt now, so glad I found you and this video!
Beautiful. Love how it goes so well with lots of different colors too. I have a large piece of printed floral in autumn colors i wasnt sure what i was going to do with it. I think I'm gonna make a skirt for church now. Thanks
Thank you for this! I am a beginner sewer and am very excited to try this! For tall ladies though, you said to try and find fabric that is 60" wide. Would that be good for a lady with a 32" inseam? Much appreciated!
I'm planning on making some skirts with my daughters today , I wanna try starting in the middle, because sometimes I end up with a small hole at the bottom or it doesn't come out so good ,so maybe if I try your way it maybe better .
When you had ironed the seam in the middle with the iron. Do you also use the sewing machine for that part to. Mainly so it will look like it came from the store or something? I'm still a beginner at sewing and wanna make the perfect maxi skirt.
I made the shirt for my granddaughter who will be going a way to college soon and she absolutely loved it! She wants more! She could totally follow your video. I taught her how to sew years ago but lives far away from me. Making the shirt sparked a need to spend some time together sewing. I can’t wait. I subscribed to your channel and want to see if you have patterns with pockets. Also, the reason I chose your video is because you are so calm and easy to follow, it was so relaxing sewing with you. I love sewing but don’t have the time with my three grandchildren here a lot which cause stress and chaos. I would love to send you a picture of my granddaughter wearing the shirt is that possible?
Hi! I'm sooooo happy it came out well and that your granddaughter loves it! Thank you for the encouragement as to why you liked following along with my video. I would love to see it! You can email it to me homemadekeeper@gmail.com Or tag me on Instagram @Homemadekeeper
Shalawam sis, great video, could you do a tutorial on how to make a plus-size skirt with pockets, please? I just received some Dashiki Ankara fabric and I really wanna make a skirt out of it
Explaining it with the piece of paper in the beginning was genius!- so easy to understand 👍❤️
Great tutorial! No unnecessary steps or words to confuse.

Wow! I'm so happy you found this video to be helpful. 😃
This video has answered my prayers about finding out how to make floor length skirt with pattern. Thank you!!
One trick that I learned in making gathered or pleated skirt is to hem the bottom before making the pleats or gathers. Thanks for sharing.
Best skirt tutorial EVER!!!!! Thank you👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Do ? you fold on the right side or wrong side
You want to fold the fabric with the wrong side facing out.
Thank you for this tutorial. That is very beautiful fabric, where did you purchase it?
Thank you! I got the fabric from Hobby Lobby.
What kind of fabric is best for this? I struggle with stretchy fabric
This video is relaxing to watch and listen to :-)

What are the measurements? Fabric used. I know 40 in long but how about waist length? Before you add elastic
I used 2 yards of fabric.
Love love lurve it!❤❤❤❤
Shalawam sis, great video, could you do a tutorial on how to make a plus-size skirt with pockets, please? I just received some Dashiki Ankara fabric and I really wanna make a skirt out of it
Hi could make this same skit with a button down front
What is the dress size of the person who will wear it? I'm a 2x is that enough fabric for my size?
Yes, it's enough fabric for someone who wears a 2x. You can add 1/2 a yard to make it a fuller skirt as well.
@@HomemadeKeeper Thank you 😊
Thanks! 🧵🪡💚
So what was the starting width and length of fabric?
I used 2 yards of fabric from Hobby Lobby. 72" × 44"
Thank you so much. I think I can do it.
