Great video thanks. The way I did it with my beets was wash them then peel them straight from the ground, peeling them was tough though because they were hard of course. Then I chopped them into smallish chunks and blanched them, let them cool then put them in the freezer. Your way is better. I saw on another video someone using a straw to suck the air out the bags, a sort of vaccum packed idea if you know what I mean.
Does boiling the beets before freezing them take away any of the nutrients? I wonder if you can freeze them raw and then cook them when ready. I usually cut them into chunks and roast them. Just wondering 😊❤ Thanks for this video!
Yes it does take away nutrients. Better to steam them…I steam my potatoes beets carrots etc. at the same time I cook pasta.. saves energy, I have an industrial large pot with a strainer steamer on top with a lid. Hope this helps..

I hope it helps you! Happy New Year ❤️
Thank you for showing us how you freeze your beets. I really like pickled beets. My husband and I like them in salads.❤
Thank you!

@@ActiveTravelWestUSA that’s good to know! Thank you so much 🩷☺️
Hi , thanks for sharing ❤, my question after freezing and defrosting them they won’t get mushy ? Will they be ok for a salad ?
Since they were only cooked enough to get the skin off, they are not mushy & need cooked more. I’ve never made salad with them
I must have missed time in boiling water. Do you put them in an ice bath?
15 minutes. If you click on her " Freezing Beets" the instructions will appear.😊
Why boil them first???
@@masonloomis5879 the skins just come off perfectly, no peeling!
@@deliciousbydebbie4435 do you have to peel them? I picked them from my garden wash them chop them and put them in our smoothies.
@@masonloomis5879 I don’t like the peels left on. Personal preference.
@@deliciousbydebbie4435 ok thank you, I just didn't know if I was doing it wrong hahah
