I use black men's socks, the ankle ones, works like a charm, snug cheap lol For bigger jars I get the half ankle ones.

Old socks work great too to cover the jar! Great use for those pesky single socks we all have :-)

Don’t you need more room between the lid and the top of the solution for oxygen so the roots don’t get water logged?

Thank you for your Kratky videos I’ve learned a lot from them so I decide to try lettuce in 1 gal jugs. Seems to be growing fine but noticed that the air roots are yellow and the roots in the liquid are bright white is that normal? Been harvesting leaves and the plant is getting near the end half the liquid is gone but was wondering about the root color. Thanks again.
