    I bought a $1,300 juice plus tower garden. I had it inside.
    It is disassembled in my basement right now because it was dripping all over my floors, and then it started spraying all over.
    Also, the light fixtures is really heavy. It's almost a 2 person job to reassemble after you have cleaned it. If you're less than 6 feet tall, you have to hold the heavy assembly over your head and line two rods up with 2 holes. Sounds easy, except the whole assembly is sprinkled with round holes for the water to drip through. You need to find the 2 that are slightly bigger and have absolutely no markings on them.
    I replaced it with 2 elevated planter boxes I made myself out of cedar planks. I use half gallon mason jars as my containers, I have an air pump on the bottom shelf, and each plant has an air stone. I also have one 36" light on each planter box. It's much prettier.

      OMG I love this! How is your DIY garden going?! I will say however, you either had a defective tower garden unit or you did not put it together properly (tight enough) I have had several tower gardens and they only ever leaked when I didn't do something right. I don't think the company would be as HUGE and successful if they made products that just leak everywhere right? This was obviously a case of equipment malfunction or user error. I'm glad to see you have worked around it though. I would love to chat about buying your un used tower garden from you if you are interested?

      If you would want to sell your "spraying, dripping" tower garden I would Glady take it off your hands? I'm sure you would make me a good deal considering it leaks everywhere?

    Tower guardens are relatively expensive because quality parts are expensive. For me to construct a good quality 21 cell tower cost me with high pressure pump, Audino contoller, spray nozzles cost about $150.00 in materials, then we have labor cost for constructing, plumbing and wiring.

    I 3d modeled it and printed to screw on a 14 g rain barrel and grow sooo much strawberries like i literally never run out in just a 3x3 space, its nice if you wanna get really snazy you can put vertical full spectrum lights on all sides for even coverage. 3d printers allow you so much design freedom screw these monopolies lol

    So I started with small countetop gardens - ok for occasional herbs. Small resevoir towers are def novelty, I agree. But DIY was more tooling and messing around than I wanted. I got tower gardens with lights and cages bc tbey are automated and large enough to provide constant supply of food and zero guessing w nutrients. They have payment plans and I found it very affordable. Paid off in one year and zero messing around. I appreciate the video but DIY wasn't right for me.

    Great video. Something to consider tho.. “BPA free” plastics use things like BPS and BPF to replace the BPA, which are equally as toxic and cancer causing as BPA. In other words, “BPA free” is really just creative marketing. We have to figure out a way to get rid of plastic altogether.
    That said, until there’s an alternative to plastic, I will likely still be purchasing a tower garden when I can afford it because I want to be able to grow my own food more efficiently. Just wanted to give the info.
    Thanks for a very informative video.

      I am so excited for you to try a tower garden! You will wonder why you didn't know about them sooner. I did beds, both raised and rows in ground for years. My first tower garden I COMPLETELY filled, Cucumbers, tomatoes, jalapenos, snap peas, cauliflower, broccoli, cantaloupe, dill, cilantro, romaine, green beans, and Kale. it all grew super fast and tasted super good. I changed the water 3 times over 4 months and set everything else to a timer. no top watering at all and I used 90% less water to grow 20 huge plants in 1/3 the time, I was hooked. That was the start of this channel :)

    Hi, great to see another of your videos and as usual, very instructive. I'm looking into buying a 3d printer to make my next tower garden but i am afraid of leakage as i've experienced in my 2 first tower gardens that i will probably get rid of.
    Or i might just stick to what has worked the best for me is my five tier Racking sistem.
    My current experiment for the moment is adding copper antennas to my Hydroponics racks, I am not sure if it is increasing my yield or the speed of growth yet or that i'm just better at controlling the differents aspects, but i seem to think that it is working, the future will tell, for now my plants and herbs are more beautiful than they ever have been.
    So, thanks again for the inspiration and knowledge, Have a great day and a great life, Regards Frank from Montreal Canada

Is there an easy way to determine how big the tower's diameter should be? Is there a way to build the drip system you described (the one with hundreds of little holes)? To me, this would be akin to buying a cheap tower off amazon. 3d printed objects will NEVER BE FOOD SAFE. The molecular structure leaves far too many gaps in the composite. Even if you buy "food grade" filament, the gaps allow soooo much bacteria to thrive that they will never be considered food safe. 3d printed towers are becoming super popular and I get it. But I also don't want to eat micro plastics that leach into my garden, or have bacteria thriving in my garden walls. Thank you for your input, I appreciate every angle and perspective here.

    Tower gardens are made from food safe plastics, yet still contain a prop 65 warning. How do we know that food safe plastics don't leach chemicals into the water, when exposed to chemicals used in aeroponics?
    Food safe, when used as specified, i don't think any of the plastics are tested for leaching in this application, but please point me in that direction if you know of some tests.
    Regarding 3d printed towers, bacterial contamination is a moot point - soil isn't sterile. Plants can't physically absorb single cell bacteria.
    Ergo is there really any difference that we know of, when examining the possibility of leaching, through the lens of safety of a Tower Garden vs 3d, cheap Chinese or whatever?

      That's a Cubic Mini Grizzly cubicminiwoodstoves.com/products/cb-1210-br-cubic-mini-wood-stove
      I removed the legs as they were actually completely useless and just made it heavier when it was mounted. Plus I think it looks cooler as a free mounted wood stove.

    I was wondering this for a while. I see some of the other companies are directly copying the Tower Garden and the Nutraponics garden for 1/10 the price. Like it looks just about identical but Im still pretty skeptical especially about the issue with plastics, Im guessing that you get what you pay for. Would love to see someone compare a grow between these systems though.

    • @humblegrowth
      @humblegrowth  7 месяцев назад

      I do love his design. However the issue I ran into when I made one and grew cucumber and peppers in the same one, was actually the lack of inner root space. How was your luck building and growing in his garden?

    • @accordingtoabe2211
      @accordingtoabe2211 7 месяцев назад

      @humblegrowth you can duplicate the design with bigger pipe diameter to help mitigate that. You'll have to scale up the fitting and connector measurements. Root trimming also helped me as well. More roots doesn't necessarily mean more growth when it comes to hydroponics.hope this helps

    • @accordingtoabe2211
      @accordingtoabe2211 7 месяцев назад

      @humblegrowth also, Chris lohs build is just a worded explanation and tutorial of the build created by someone in Thailand. And they have more designs of the same caliber, but there's no vocal audio explaining the build. Just video.

    I have one probably dumb question... I have grown things in hydroponics indoors before. But I'm wondering (here comes the dumb part) do you have to keep filling the water bucket? Or does it simply flow down from the top and stay filled? (that was your dumbest question of the day I bet)

    • @humblegrowth
      @humblegrowth  Год назад +1

      No dumb questions here! I think that is a great question. A well assembled tower garden should be able to re circulate the water inside until it is absorbed by the roots. Hope that helps :)

    I went back to using soil after spending hundreds of dollars and countless hours. Main disadvantage with hydroponics or aeroponics is labor intensive and loss of nutrients from drips. With water any loss is neglible, but when drips contains precious and expensive chemicals, it becomes a concern. You need to constantly test and mix chemicals. It works for full time production, but as a homeowner, soil and water is less demanding.

      Thank you. My tone only comes from my frustration as a consumer. I only inflate my tone as a representation of my annoyance with products that are cheaply made then shipped to other countries only to become landfill fodder. I personally try to invest my money in high quality engineered, designed and fabricated products so they will last, and cheap Chinese, mass produced, products really don't in my experience. I truly believe that it comes down to passion for your work. If you want to be doing something, you will do it better, China's infrastructure is not really setup for following ones desire and passion for work on a middleclass level. love the chat, thanks for your comment.

      @humblegrowth  24 дня назад

      I respect your opinion. My view of them are based on comparison. You cannot truly speak to what I am saying unless you are comparing the Chinese towers to a genuine juice plus tower garden. That is what this video is about. I have use both Chinese made cheap towers and JP tower gardens (a lot) Comparing them would be like comparing a Kia to a Bentley. You need to understand the context more before you ask me to stop comparing things. I invite you to buy a JP tower garden and compare for yourself. www.towergarden.com#Humblegrowthhydroponics
      Then tell me that the Chinese made tower gardens are still good.
      It is also a known fact that Chinese produced goods are cheaply made by people who don't really care in factories that mass produce future landfill fodder. 99% of what China imports to the rest of the world is absolute garbage.
      sorry not sorry, this is my platform lol.

    You can do some really quick math to find out that these fancy 700$ towers aren’t going to repay themselves in terms of produce yield anytime sooner than 7+ years. Considering also that most of the time they are just a structure with hydraulics. For a successful growing you need nutrients, adeguate lighting (80% of the running cost), a controlled climate, seeds, growing medium and so much more. With such a high cost, these things are just not scalable and remain fancy flowerpots.
