My question is how the mason jar works for plants that spread more horizontally than vertically, like arugula. I am finding it hard to picture how you can get "good yield" when the "field" of arugula at the top of the mason jar is limited to a few inches.

Something I will have to experiment with and get back to you on.

Excellent easy to understand Thank you.I have a question: if you had everything for free, I mean everything, even electricity etc. in a greenhouse with shadow clouths.
What would you choose between Aeroponic and Kratky???

I would always choose aeroponics. The growth will be substantially faster and you have far more control of every aspect of the grow. However, aeroponics if far from passive and the more moving parts, the more can go wrong. So if you are looking for simplicity and a set-it-and-forget-it garden, the Kratky method is a obvious choice. I see Kratky gardens solving world hunger issues where electricity is not available or scarce. Aeroponics however, is the epitome of hydroponics. hope this answers your question...I can get a bit convoluted lol
