- Today we take you across the river for lunch at another great spot, Papa Steakhouse. Then we stroll through a new supermarket (kind of like a Costco) and compare some grocery prices, you won't believe what we paid for APPLES!! Then lastly, we take a stroll through the new DaNang Walking Street Market at night. It's a great place to hang out with a tea, coffee or ice cream! Hope you enjoy the stroll.
Thank you so much for watching!

One unique thing about Vietnam culture is that everyone comes out at night. It really brings the city to life to another level.
@@snake0911 you are 100% correct! I love that!
the Vietnamese are really scared of getting a tan. Those with a darker shade are usually concerned laborers.
Exactly, in Vietnam people flock to the streets at night in large numbers, probably it's cool at night because there is no sunlight at that time (sunlight is very abundant in Vietnam).
@tonynhung1666 yes!..... it's either early in the morning or at night to avoid the heat! I totally understand that.
like in loads of other countries.
What a vibrant and funky city! You guys are so giddy and exude great joy.
Awe, thank you for that! ❤️
The market seems to have everything, just like in America. Thanks again for sharing!
Hi there 👋 Yeah, it reminded me of Cosco or a Sam's Club. The only thing it didn't have was a pool floatie 🤣🤣 you are very welcome and thank YOU for watching and leaving a comment!
Great video friends. 😊
Thanks for sharing your time with us. Cheers from 2 Canadians 🇨🇦 living in Mexico.🇲🇽🥰✌🏼
@@2GringosOnTheGulf thank you! ♥️
Vietnam for the EASY win over Mexico.
Thank you for sharing my hometown to everyone, really appreciate that ❤❤
Hi there! 👋 Yeah, we are looking forward to exploring Danang 😀
Thanks for sharing your video
@myrajoy1437 thank you for watching! Means alot!
Good video, thanks. I spent 11 days there in March and liked it so much, am returning for a month next March.
@The_Good_Life_starts_today oh lovely! Thank you for watching! We are enjoying our time here too! 👍
Waching you from Italy, well done!! 👍
Hello Italy 👋 it's on our list too! ❤️ thanks for watching 😊
Is your condo on the beach side and the night market on the city side? Or vice versa? Is the head of the dragon on the beach side?
Our condo was closer to the Han River. The dragon bridge crosses over the Han River 👍
Thank you! So it seems that you don't have to cross the river to get to the beach.
It's great to see reviews and day-to-day living from the perspective of someone closer to my own age. Most of the Da Nang videos feature influencers in their early 20s.
Yeah, we are too old to be influencers..... what is see, is what you get! 🤣🤣🤣
I love Danang. It will be the retirement for me.
Not a bad place to pick! Happy retirement!
I love it too and considering it for semi retirement.
I went to Barranquilla Colombia last year for 3 months to explore. My research is showing me that Da Nang Vietnam is cheaper than Barranquilla.
Have you had problems anywhere yet with rats 🐀 ? , I heard that was a pretty big problem there , I’m planning to spend 6 months a year there probably DaNang . Thank you for your videos , there informative for someone like me coming there after my major back surgery 😂
I've only seen rats near the garage.... haven't really been a problem. Thanks for watching! 👍
@@jacquesahouansou not only cheaper but most importantly is safer than Colombia and the rest of South America . For me safety is more important than cheap .
Thank you. Question, please. How long have you two been in Vietnam? Thanks again.
We were in Vietnam for 3 month, in Da Nang. And spent 3 months earlier in the year in Hanoi too! It was great
Love your videos! Noticed you were getting funds from HSBC. Do you have a local account or a US account? How do you handle ATM and FX fees?
Hi there! 👋 thanks for watching! We have an international Canadian account and don't get charged fees when withdrawing money. 👍
Thanks for showing the city center. I now have an idea of what it looks like. I plan to visit soon.
Oh very nice! There's lots more to see and do in Da Nang so stay tuned in! We are here for 3 months 👍
Beautiful city
It really is! 😍
May I ask did you the wifi in the cafe was smoking fast ? I must ve misheard ,sorry my English isn't that good
@@XIYIREN2006 hi there! Papa Steak's wifi wasn't that fast. 😒
Greetings from Maine. I was wondering if there is tipping at restaurants in Vietnam or is it included in the price of your meal and also, how was the service compared to other countries.
Hello Maine! Tipping isn't a thing a Vietnam, I feel like that's a western world kinda thing. Depending on ever you go, the service is good, some.... still need work.
In Vietnam, no one pays attention to tips, on both sides
@tonynhung1666 which is something I like! 😊
Hows the withdrawing of money? ATM 🏧 vs bank? How much cash can u take out? And which one did u guys use?
Love the contents! Keep up the good work
Hi there! We found HSBC back to be the best ATM to withdrawal money. Others will only let you take out under 5 Mil HSBC let's you withdrawal 9Mil! Thanks for the feedback! 👍
Do you need to get a jab for hepatitis a and b?
How much is healthcare for seniors? How much is private healthcare for seniors?
Thanks xx
@stevio7777 I worked on the h health care profession so already covered for hepatitis.... it's always a good idea. Not sure how much health care is for seniors we use safetywing while traveling. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Do they have a delivery service in the grocery stores, where you order and they deliver
On the grab app you can choose the store you want like LotteMart grocery store pick your items from the list and have it delivery 👍
@@wattstraveling sweeet, thank you
@2Rugrats9597 you are welcome 👍
Thanks for the grocery shopping trip. Didn't know that it's so expensive! For example, the packet of 3 in 1 Nescafe, it's almost $10 more expensive than in Malaysia. 😮
I think you might be confusing money? 48 pack of nescafe is 6.10 CAD and for 25 pack of nescafe is 3.75 CAD..... so I'd say they are about the same, give or take 1 dollar CAD 👍 we wouldn't buy it if it were THAT expensive! 🤣🤣
@@wattstraveling sorry, i meant Malaysian ringgit. I'll watch your video again to confirm.
@kimwong874 13 Ringgit vs 57,000 Dong 😁
I'm enjoying your vlogs. Are the both of you permanently retired in Vietnam as I plan to retire there in the next couple of years and have chosen Da Nang as my primary city to reside. I'm Vietnamese and have lived in the US most my life.
@huey8431 hi there! Thanks for watching! We are BOTH retired yes! .... but still looking for our "home away from home". DaNang is very beautiful we look forward to coming back in upcoming years. Enjoy Retirement 😉
You said the steak meal came to somewhere around $18 but you didn’t say if that was per person or if that was for both cheers
For BOTH.! ♥️
Hi is it easy to get food poison in Da nang ? is it easy to find organic vegetable and fruits and nuts in Da nang ? Thank You
Hey there! 👋 I always follow the this rule..... if you are going to eat street food, it has to be made in front of me (not cooked and sitting out) ready to be bought.... it's gotta be fresh! 👍 and yes there are many markets to get veggies and fruit, meat, nuts and dried goods too! 👍
If your staying in Vietnam for longer term, u should get a Vietnamese bank account ..HSBC is crazy with cost as well as your home bank.
We don't get charged any fees with our bank back home. 👍 Once we settle on a country, we will definitely open a bank account
Get a wise card and you won´t pay any charges
@StuartPronAccent-xi1gt that's not 100% true, the wise card has fees as well. We don't pay any fees with the international bank account we have! 👍
@@wattstraveling I use Starling from the UK and have zero charges. Wise I have heard doesn´t have charges if tou convert to local currncy I believe.
@StuartPronAccent-xi1gt from the website "Wise money transfers have varying transfer fees based on the country or currency you’re transferring to"
We've really had no reason to get one, but know people who use them.
Hi there. I’m a 71 yr female who will travel alone for various reasons. One reason medical tourism but with an énfasis of very slow travel. Please share details on how you secure your belongings in hotel/ apartment and when on the streets. If one or both of you use specialized things. I do like the upper arm band which has a zipper for credit cards and cash. Please share. Help.
@MSWcryptoworker Hi there! I want to start by saying safety is always necessary when you travel and depending where in the world you travel securing your belongings is a MUST! We've done 2 years of travel in S.E.A, mostly Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia and in none of these 3 countries did we ever feel unsafe. In Thailand many people leave their keys in their scooter, and nothing happens. We don't secure our money in any fancy when walking around... we just don't carry much money at all. I've heard of people using a "dummy" wallet with the real one tucked away? We don't wear flashy things, little jewelry. We've also never traveled solo. Sorry I couldn't be more help. If you have any more questions reach out on Instagram or email 👍
Do you have any information about keeping a dog here in Da Nang? Are there dog friendly neighborhoods, or stores, apartments, etc? Like if i bring my dog in a stroller or a bookbag, can i bring him in places? Hes pretty small only 17lbs.
@samuri2011 sorry, I don't have any experience with that. 😕
@@msgreen2303ohhhh, thanks for sharing that! Awesome
Didn’t see all the shops on waterside when I went there last year
It's new, just opened! 👍
That grocery store was more expensive than I thought it’d be
Some things can be expensive for sure, all depends on what you buy! 👍
OK you made me laugh, .. LOL
Good information , oh and yesterday it was 42 C 107 F in Toronto i would say that must be how it feels there all the time.
Food prices seem to be nicely priced, would you agree that Thailand is a little higher priced over all?
Will you be doing days trips so see areas that are near by?
Oh bad news today Donald Sutherland passed, age 88.
Have you found any Canadian products in Da Nang?
Have a safe week.
Don
Hi Don! 👋 Yes, temps are consistently high here! Yes, well be doing day trips in and around Da Nang, those will more than likely be posted on Sundays. Prices are a bit cheaper here than Thailand and some food and restaurants items, we did find Maple syrup! Housing I feel is still affordable in both places! Thanks for watching and the current update on Donald Sutherland. 👍
MMM maple syrup.
Seems like grocery prices are less expensive in the US.
@randallmiller7082 yeah, for most things.... all depends on what you are buying.
HSBC bank account. They told me in the US that I need to have $100,000 minimum to open an account that I can access internationally…😢🙄… love your video though!
Thank you! 100k that's crazy...... we have an international account but it didn't have THAT stipulation. Crazy
@@wattstraveling That’s what they told me yesterday on the phone. I spent months in Hanoi in 2006 and fell in love with the country. I wanna check out Da Nang in October. I’m renting out my condo and planning to stay in Vietnam for a year renewing my tourist visa every 90 days. Are the ATM fees exorbitant in Vietnam?
best atm in all of Da Nang. Only place other than the airport where you can pull 9 million with one transaction.
@@Angler12 yeah.... the HSBC has been great! 👍
Good.job
Awe, thanks 😊
Vietnam has the best coffee in the world! Why are you buying packaged?
Because I'm not a huge coffee fan and it's easy to travel with! 👍

The Asean country ,you should change 50hz to anti flicker
@vuvivu82 I've tried different settings, I do all my filming on my phone, it offeres the most stability.

Never seen someone hold a fork like that
You're welcome 🤣🤣
What’s the VISA looking like for Vietnam from an American perspective?
Hi there 👋 Honestly I'm not sure, we are Canadian. We got a 3 month visa ahead of time.
@@wattstravelingThank you for the information…btw very good video.
Shopping seems expensive
Depends on what you buy, I suppose. What are you comparing it to?
when u start rating restaurant on wifi signal
We ALWAYS test the wifi in every place we go to know where the good wifi signals are so that we know where we can work from! 👍
City of Danang looks safe to me
@nef.spring so far so good! 👍
where's the beef? Well, there is a reason why nobody in Vietnam knows what Ozempic is.
Didn't really see much of that, but wasn't really looking.
@@wattstraveling sorry, it was an old American joke. "Where's the beef" was a popular 80's Wendy commercial about hamburgers with invisible beef patties. Here, it refers to your steaks that were invisible under the smothering sauce. My point was that the food serving portions in Vietnam (and most Asia) are so small that they don't need semaglutide like Ozempic over there.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh yes, I remember that commercial! The servings are definitely bigger in the USA! 🤣
a well done steak? yikes. did it taste like shoe leather?
@33owls 🤣🤣🤣 no that's the best part! It was cooked perfectly and STILL juicy
5 weeks till im there :)
Hi Adam! 👋 Nice! Have a great time!
Nice place but those petruding lights on the ground is so hazardous, people could so easily tripped over, ocd me will be so nervous and looks everywhere. The vibe of Vietnam is a lot calmer than KL, I'm Malaysian but personally I prefer calmer places.
I totally agree!.... only because I have tripped on them while looking around! It has a good vibe! 👍
how that cat even get in there??
🤣🤣🤣 I have no idea, poor thing
Very like
Thanks! 👍
@@wattstraveling would you be my friend
Well done steak? I bet they judge customers for that, also.
Yup I like my steak well done! 😁👍
*_XIN CHÀO_* !
HELLO 👋
Vietnam is beautiful, but it's so chaotic way more than other SEA countries. It's not for everyone long-term.
Hi there 👋 definitely not for the faint of heart, especially driving! Vietnam is beautiful 😍
Small city is lesser chaotic like da bang.😂😂😂 thanks 4 sharing.
@chautiendung DaNang is definitely less chaotic than Hanoi 👍 more of the island life pace ❤️
Have you been to the high-income areas of Hanoi? They are independent areas with large green areas, clean, beautiful and quiet and there are no motorbikes or cars parked in the garage or anywhere. You want, there are full restaurants, cafes, gyms, schools, hospitals, swimming pools, lots of lakes and forests and people in that area just live and work there. Apartments range from $1.5-7 million
@@hopdenreview those are like a city within a city....I like traditional Hanoi.... not the "build it they will come" neighborhoods! 👍
Anything is expensive for both of you, lol
Nope, that's not true. Just comparing prices from places we've been is all. 👍
The 150 and 200g steak look exactly the same... underwhelming 😅
Well, I couldn't see my steak under the sauce... but I can tell you it was tasty, and who can complain for 8CAD.... not me! We are going back! 👍
Note to self on Vietnam don't buy American groceries
It can be expensive to buy imported things!
Why do Americans use forks like shovels? Think you need to watch some RUclips videos on knife and fork etiquette.
@seanmitchell7117 thank you for taking the time to add a ridiculous comment 👍 🤣🤣 How tolerant of you of other cultures....I don't think you'd last in S.E.A! 🤣🤣
I Spend 3 months every year in various parts of SE Asia and it’s on my travels that i have mostly observed Americans eating like this. Mostly in SE Asia it’s either chop sticks or a Fork and a Spoon. How is it a ridiculous comment it’s a genuine question. Are you taught to use like this or is it just a bad habit picked up going through life.
It's not a genuine question at all, it's insulting. The way we use our utensils is completely fine..... not sure how one would eat a steak with Chopsticks or a fork and a spoon? Where are YOU from?
I guess you not accustomed to fine dining restaurants then! I was not suggesting you eat your steak with chop sticks i was pointing out the fact that in Most S E Asia countries they are most popular utensils along with fork and spoon. Usually only westerners would be served with a knife and fork. I honestly think it looks so awkward the way you are using a fork.
@seanmitchell7117 I'd eat the same way no matter what restaurant I was dining in. I believe the term "shovel" when using a dining utensil is when your hand is placed over the handle, not under it.
If you REALLY want to see awkward, you should see me use Chopsticks 🤣🤣🤣
*_Xin chào các bạn_* !
Hello there! 👋
