  • In this video "Danang Where To Stay", you'll find a comprehensive overview of the most favored places to stay by foreign visitors and expats living in Danang. All of the main districts and their most popular wards or neighborhoods are featured. The popular ward for Western Expats, My An and the An Thuong Tourist Streets are featured first, followed by Khue My-favored by long-term expats, Hoi Hai, where you'll find several 5 star resorts on the beach, Phuoc My and Man Thai. Then we'll finish with the city districts and neighborhoods of the city center, An Hai Bac, An Hai Trung, and Hai Chau. As many of these places are quite varied in their characteristics it's fair to say that there's something that would appeal to almost anyone coming to Danang. If you enjoy the video please give it a thumbs up, leave a comment, and share with your fellow friends and travellers.

Hello John, I'm Vietnamese, I've watched a lot of Vietnam travel videos and vlogs, but I especially see your channel making videos in a very professional and detailed way, including talking about historical origins, and you always have respect for the countries you visit. I wish you always have happy and joyful days.

Why promote big luxury hotels that are a far cry from the lives of Vietmese . Da Nang is a fantastic city that deserves better than this one sided video. Sorry but there so much more to talk about.

Here after Kuala Lumpur metro guide video. The detail and style of video with map markers is so cool and made it easier to watch than other RUclips videos yapping all day. I had great time staying 2 nights in son tra near beach last year. The crowds were less and accommodation was surprising cheap compared to Saigon and Hanoi. Your weather advisory for November was spot on as we landed da nang in rain and Hoi An was flooded. I had great time walking entire dragon bridge and going to cho con market and ended up on river cruise with lot of Koreans 😊. I loved Da Nang and want to spend more than 2-3 days here. The combination of sea front, river front especially walking spaces parallel to the river and proximity to airport and Hoi An makes it an all rounder. Thanks for bringing back my memories and all the best for the channel. Wish you make more videos in neighbouring countries as well. 👍🏾👍🏾

Wow, things have changed especially what was called China Beach and was a recreation area for the US military during the war. My favourite beach location John in Vietnam is Danang. The Expats I meet are working with a real work visa, running a business or investing in one with a proper investment visa, married to a Vietnamese and have a Dependent visa or TT, Viet Kieu with the appropriate visas and The Tourist who comes and goes with a tourist visa. All contribute to the economy which helps Vietnam. Not so long ago people working or trying to retire on tourist visas were told to leave the country. Although the beach is spectacular it also naturally draws loads of tourists. Prices for food, drink and accommodation are higher here. I’m looking to spend 3 months per year in beautiful Da Nang. I would prefer the west side of the Han river area. Loved it! Bamboo 2 bar is a great location with riverfront and bridge view, cheap beer, good food and great background music. Beer Garden nearby is good too. More locals. The city is very clean, the traffic is not outrageous, the air quality is good. I love Da Nang! ♥️

John, great advice! I am retired 4 years now and have been doing the "slow travel" thing, even during Covid a bit... I am settling in on a couple favorite regions and I think I will wind up in places that I like the best in 3 or 4 regions of the world. South America, SE Asia, Eastern Europe and my home, for visiting family in North America. I just arrived here in Vietnam after seeing Phillipines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Cambodia. Da Nang has been high on my list for a long time for its affordability, mild climate and central location. Maybe we will run into each other in a couple weeks when I get to that part of the country. Thanks!

Thank you for your honesty regarding long-term stays. I am somewhat still fluent in Vietnamese (Army Language School in 1964) and 30 months in country as a translator. I am also an amateur Champa researcher so my preference is a hotel next to the Cham Museum, and then for me, trips out toward My-Son and the area between it. My dream is for a 30 days tour of Cham temples, archeological sites, and villages throughout Central Vietnam. If I could retire in Southeast Asia, it would probably be in Cambodia for the travel convenience to Vietnam and the other countries nearby or maybe in Laos.

Wisest thing I’ve heard. I thought the same. I’m based with my own home in Taiwan as a British Expat retired with my wife (55). No responsibilities. I plan to spend 1 month travelling to Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Korea, Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand. In my career I’ve been to 39 countries. I don’t need a cruise. 1 month is enough in each. Sand, sea, nightmarkets, there all the same. Then return to base each time. Travelling from here to reach country is short haul and cheap.

John, what you said about changing this mental blockade in your head, and instead of staying in ONE ( does not matter how " idyllic") place on your retirement, stay three months or even two , and then move to another interesting location. My plan for retirement ( very soon:-) is to make " slow travel loops" . One of those " loops" will be : Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malesia, Philippines. Second " loop" Armenia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Albania. Third one ( but not the last) will be : Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Costa Rica. Overall, this mode of travel makes much more sense than staying in one place ( for me). Btw. Great video , very informative , even though I was in Vietnam , also DaNang year ago.

      Thanks so much! I
Love your “travel loop” ideas. You’ll collect some of the most amazing memories and have a much deeper connection with humanity in my opinion than you ever possibly could by planting yourself in one place. Best of luck with everything!!!

I should mention that I will document my slow travel loop experience with my YT videos :-) . I created my chanel @backpackingbold , one year ago but it was more to learn how to edit videos , so quality is far from what I would like to see , and what I hope to achieve, starting full time travel life style and posting regularly. …and it makes me even more appreciate your videos quality and I see how much work and time it took you to create it.

    Hello John,
Great guide to the city, I’ve travelled quite a lot in the country over the last few years and Da Nang is definitely my favourite place. I like to stay near to Đỗ Bá and I think you captured the atmosphere of the area pretty well. That said I love to walk and have explored most of the central wards, it was fun to see so many places I recognise, it triggered many fond memories. I have walked over the three bridges while heading to the Vin Plaza and Lotte Mart supermarkets in search of staples for my kitchen. Glad to see you covered the quiet and wonderful point on the beach out by the Pullman, what a great spot to build sand castles and play in the surf.
