I live in Eastern Kentucky. One of the most appalling and frustrating things about the floods we had a couple of years back was when FEMA was here and trying to help, how many local people were demonizing Biden and saying that the Federal Government never does anyone any good even as they were getting food, water, hot showers, etc. courtesy of the Federal Government.

I'm not sure which allegation or details you're replying to, so here's a general answer. Please note I don't believe Trump's claims about the current presidency restricting disaster relief: The biggest reason you may see certain restrictions placed on relief is that the US only has so much money assigned to FEMA (a limit currently in place b/c GOP representatives voted against expanding their budget), so how any one agency or person distributes the aid generally is based on doing the most good for the most people. The problems can occur when you run into questions like do you try to send money to where you have more people living in generally lower cost housing (urban) or to where you have fewer people but way more monetary damage that may not be covered by insurance and whatnot (such as suburban sprawl not within walking distance of other forms of resources). The problem is that even this hypothetical divide has demographic divisions along racial, age, and even ethnic lines. It's **possible** that money could be mis-assigned. Having said all that, the problem is that we have supposedly 1 in 100 year storms and we need money to repair the damage. During this initial response time, people are viewing federal spending as some zero-sum game where every dollar spent somewhere else (foreign aid, military, etc.) is money that could have been sent to FEMA. You'll also notice that the people making these claims **aren't** the ones in the presidency, and you'll note that the budget for FEMA and pretty much everything else is assigned by Congress (who are mostly controlled by the GOP) ahead of time. All this to say, yeah. If you found someone purposefully preventing aid money from being distributed or relief supplies blocked, then that would be illegal, but the govt is also a large bureaucratic beast, and it can be hard to ID the overall actions that it's taking. FEMA needs time to provide aid, paperwork needs doing, and people lying about others blocking aid only serves to exacerbate the strain put on systems and people by the weather.
@@tsnap4 There are articles and interviews from Trumps own staff that he withheld relief for the California incidents because he wanted to know if they voted for him or not. His own staff had to pull the polling information and show him the numbers before he would release it. I also researched presidents taking disaster relief funding for other things and the only example I could find was again Trump. In 2019 he pulled from the disaster relief fund and stated he would use it to return undocumented people to Mexico.

Trump's gofundme for hurricane relief is not going to hurricane victims or charities. There's no transparency and it's managed by his current campaign funding manager. Please talk about this! People are donating expecting it to go to people in need, but we know that's not happening. There's a chance to still get it taken down and everyone refunded or put pressure for transparency.
Your first line gave me a flashback. Very shortly after Katrina destroyed my home and the homes of thousands and thousands, I went to visit my sister and brother-in-law in Atlanta. He worked for CDC, I’m also a researcher and was going to give a talk as a pretense to meet about temporarily relocating to a lab in the area- the one I worked in would be under repair and or without power and other utilities for many months after (think legend movie w will smith. That was filmed in a lab across the street from the building I worked in). Anyway, we went to dinner and there was a group of folks at a table next to us. A couple of them were loudly discussing how all the damage was just “god judging all those queers and drunkard Catholics”, and how “Louisiana will be better for it in the long run”. My sister is pretty passive. You know the middle peace maker child. Her and her husband are also very pious Catholics. And neither touched alcohol. We had gone to the restaurant just after my sister got off the phone with some cousins who had told her everyone in their family save one would have to completely demolish and rebuild their homes (large family, so 9 homes). She has also been told our great grand father’s and great grand mother’s tombs had washed away and family was searching the bayous for their coffins (we have to build above ground tombs because the high water table pushes coffins up over time). Anyway, you could see her gettin more and more mad. She waived down a waitress and asked for more water. When the waitress returned she asked if she could just leave the pitcher because she was so thirsty. The waitress did. Moments after she left my sister stood up, grabbed the pitcher and walked over to the offending table. Then she emptied its contents over the head of the two men that made the most crass and crude statements while screaming “I’m one those drunk Catholic fags that deserve katrina y’all have been talking about. So is every one at my table. F you”. Needless to say we didn’t finish our meal. But it’s a funny memory at a dark moment.
I am 71 years old and my husband is 65. We were ground zero for hurricane Harvey that hit Rockport Texas in 2017. Harvey had wins that gusted to 155 miles an hour and the constant wind speed was only 5 miles an hour below being classified as a cat five. So in our minds, I say we went through a cat five even though it was officially called a cat for. All we heard in the media was Houston whining about how much damage they got. Yes, their city was a much bigger area and more people were affected but Rockport lost one/3 of the town so the percentage of damage we got was much higher than Houston. Houston was the only county on the Texas coast that bought its way through lobbying out of being required to buy windstorm insurance. We paid windstorm insurance for 25 years. We had $250,000 damage to our property and our M Fing insurance company sent to $7000 and told us to go away. We fought for 2 1/2 years to get anything that was fair for our home. Texas is a red state, and the only insurance you could get for a long time was a company partially administered by the state so that tells you how much Republicans care about people having their homes destroyed. And then back to Houston: I know that a lot of people in Houston suffered just like we did, but their county bought their way out of making the people even get the insurance they needed, and then all they did was whine. I feel so sad and devastated for all the people in Florida. For me that isn’t a cliché because I know what they are going through with the debris fields and the bullshit paperwork and everything else. And two hurricanes two weeks is just inconceivable. I forgot to mention that there were 100 tornadoes inside Hurricane Harvy and we had two of them on our property. The hurricane isn’t the only thing. There are lots of other wonderful little weather surprises that come along with it. So you have different federal agencies and insurance companies arguing about who is going to pay for what and that further delays the whole process.
It's so refreshing that the majority of comments that I've read here are on the side of Team Sanity. Something we could all use more of is honest reporting. Trump took the shame out of getting caught lying. I don't think lying should be protected free speech.
Also, TV networks purposely spreading lies during a catastrophe/pandemic that directly causes tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths should be criminally prosecuted. Within their own building Fox Nonsense Network strictly enforced CDC guidelines requiring vaccinations, wearing masks and social distancing. Simultaneously, their on-air personalities constantly claimed it was all a hoax that nobody should believe and medical professionals were "the enemy". The USA has 4% of the global population but suffered 25% of all fatalities from Covid-19.

@@tammystockley-loughlin7680 you are not alone. I was an avid reader at a young age and I wasn't allowed to watch television. I've NEVER liked him. It's like everyone else saw him as a normal human being and I was the only one seeing a two headed monster. He just has this "ick" factor.
When I left NY in the early 90s, I never wanted to hear the names Donald Trump or Howard Stern again. Life has not been kind in that regard.
Pretty much! I grew up on NJ and he was always a joke.
I grew up in the Midwest in the early 80s and all I knew of Trump was he was the rich guy with tacky taste and goofy hair that they made fun of on SNL. Then maybe early 90s he got in some ongoing war of words with Rosie O'Donnell and went bankrupt a lot. He was never anything but a joke to me. By the time The Apprentice debuted, I wondered "How is this moron still around?"

What’s amazing is that, if you were to ask conservatives about Trump withholding relief funds for California wildfires because California is a blue state, they would say that was a good thing.

To make it even more ironic, California basically pays for the South to exist. California is one of the few states that gives more to the federal coffers than it takes out. Doesn't get any better when the conversation turns to New York either.
Yet another case of overwhelming hate preventing people from realizing how things _actually_ work. People are so eager to hate California and Californians that they don't realize how much they would lose without them.

Why isn't restricting disaster relief a crime?
Because Trump is the only one that's ever done it
I'm not sure which allegation or details you're replying to, so here's a general answer. Please note I don't believe Trump's claims about the current presidency restricting disaster relief:
The biggest reason you may see certain restrictions placed on relief is that the US only has so much money assigned to FEMA (a limit currently in place b/c GOP representatives voted against expanding their budget), so how any one agency or person distributes the aid generally is based on doing the most good for the most people.

Milton is also the guy in Office Space who burns down the building over them taking his red stapler.😅
It gets so discouraging to see the sites where people have swallowed the rumors hook, line, and sinker.

Love you Trae! You make me feel better about Tennessee. My Grandpa was from Waverly...when Democrats were more prevalent than Republicans in Tennessee. Thank you for making me laugh about the sh*t show going on in our country.
When the best news comes from comedians.
Didn't MTG pull a Cruz and leave Georgia while Hurricane Helene went through it?
They can't handle the truth
For the very first time I agree with MTG... Impeach Mike Johnson... Can't believe it myself.💙💙💙

I think it's freaking hilarious how Donald Trump Jr was begging for money in the ad right before your video
Let them waste their money on social media ads on sites that MAGAs never engage with. Jr is never going to get a single penny from Trae’s fans.
@@paulamartin6724 That's why I found it hilarious
Trae, I would scream into my pillow too, but I'm afraid if I started I wouldn't stop.
There are days when I actually miss running down the road buck naked, drunk and screaming at the top of my lungs.
Keep telling the truth, Trae - A lot of us are listening, and what you are saying matters!
It's amazing, the abilities we have, that I was unaware of. Hurricanes, who knew...😂
Donnie can control them with a sharpie!
(If he wants.)
yeah man, the magat mendacity is so infuriating!
I mean. At least they are starting to believe in human generated climate change?! It’s only a matter of time before they make the connection?! Maybe?!
Fingers crossed. I almost got my mom...then she blamed God. Positive vibes from New Hampshire, remember to be kind to each other and yourself during these trying times.
I'm calling it. Florida becomes a two part state before 2030. The southern tip will become an island, for sure. These storms use to be "100 Year" or "75 year" storms. Something you'd only see in once in a lifetime... we could have prevented this. We prevented the widening of the hole in the ozone layer in the 1990's. We prevented acid rain. We could have prevent this but too many individuals for some strange and weird reason choose to argue for big oil. So much so, they'll risk their own home. These folks don't get paid, not even a discount and they still - argue for big oil. It's not like the use of oil is going to disappear, but god forbid if their profits get hit.
I need my Liberal Redneck SCREAMING PILLOW! Pls add to merch line!!!
....or at least a pillow case! (Cheaper to ship)
patented with a plush moisture-wicking filter and pad at the center to absorb the excess inflow of tears and "breath sweat".
MY BiL is a Disney Adult too. There's only so many trips through 'Its a Small World' a gal can take, before her mind starts coming unstuck. The things we do for family....
I had to pause 15 seconds in so I could LMFAO at his opening sentence. 😂😂😂😂 This man is a treasure!
Thank you for helping me keep the small bit of sanity I still have...living through this trump sh-t
I'm in Upstate SC. We still have people here without power. We weren't hurt as bad as our neighbors in NC. Not many here appreciate the lies, half truths, and misinformation, even many Republicans are pissed about it.
Thank you for reminding me of the MAGA silliness on the other side of their darkness. Helps me keep on keepen' on.
It is insanity Trae.
Every accusation is a confession!
