Thanks for the ride
You're welcome. Very happy you enjoyed it 👍😊
Thanks for the video ride. The train tram bus network around Melbourne, never ceases to amaze me.
We are lucky to still have the trams as part of our public transport. Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍😊
@@driver667 thanks driver667. I think that you and for that matter, every Melbournian is proud that Melbourne has the largest tram network on Planet Earth. [saved by Major-General Risson when it was in vogue to scrap every other tram network. I bet they're sorry now although some cities are trying to rebuild trams networks.]
@@letsseeif yes, I am very happy he managed to save the network. We are all the better for his efforts 👌 😊
Much enjoyed! Cheers.
Thank you. Great to hear you enjoyed it 👍 😊
Well my old line has certainly changed ,elevated at coburg,no gate keepers, the bridge before Flemington bridge stn used to have a restricted speed of 10k on it and the stn was a buggar to stop at specially in icy weather, similiar to laburnum on the downgreat video mate, cheers,👏👏👋👋👍
It sure has changed. Glad you liked it 👍 😊
I'm going to miss the Comengs when theyre all finally retired
I feel old seeing them scrapped. They were the newest train when I transferred to the suburban system. 🤔👍
It must be an unusual feeling driving under the road at Moreland .
It's a little different to years ago 👍😊
Nice to see this line again. In a few years all those level crossings in Brunswick will probably be gone (by 2027 according to the project site).
I will have to re video it again after that 😀👍
Do you have a drivers view from Melbourne to Warrnambool?
I am working on getting that filmed. I have video of a trip I drove from warrnambool to west vic. It will be a little while till warrnambool hits youtube. 👍😊
When was that filmed?
West vic was filmed maybe 6 years ago off the top of my head 🤔 👍😊
Are you running on yellows up to Jewell due to the level crossing activations? I’ve noticed a similar operation of signalling on the Altona loop but never twigged as to what I could be.
A stopping all stations train is usually on yellows and red at the end of the platform. The level crossing is not operating as long as if the train was express. This is a usual practice. 👍😊
@@driver667 good to know, thanks :)
@@micbrett1 👍
Didn't realize how curved the platform was at Flemington Bridge.
It is. 👍😊
Is it just me or do other people experience a zooming out effect for a few seconds after the locomotive stops?
It's not just you. I find myself moving also when I am editing on my computer 😀😀👍
When will you drive through the metro tunnel
Whenever his camera passes into the hands of someone testing the metro tunnel, which is probably never.
It is something I would like but it won't be happening soon 🤔👍
I wanted to ask you something because it's something I think you could help me with. Yesterday (Monday 24 July) I was travelling on the 9am train from Berwick (Pakenham line) to the city to go and do something in there. The Up morning train from Bairnsdale (the N class loco-hauled set) runs between that one and the next Up Pakenham train. However, when I got off at Richmond to observe it going through (as I had some time before I had to be where I was going and wanted to see/hear it stopping and departing for a change), I was disappointed to discover it wasn't an N class but a regular Vlocity :(
The question I have for you is if you know if the last timetabled N class to/from Bairnsdale has finally been replaced, or if this would have been a one-off occurrence? Please let me know so I can work out if I'll still have a chance to try again another time.
The loco will be on the Bairnsdale for quite a while yet. It has been a VLocity lately due to the Bairnsdale line being closed for bridge work. I am led to believe trains are now running again but another shut down is coming up. 👍😊
@@driver667Ok, that's good to know. Thanks for that info. I'll try again another time and this time I'll check beforehand if the line is closed beyond Traralgon that morning.

Hi what to prefer to drive in the country or city rail network???? Also I noticed there is a lit up sign as you going into Ballarat station - 130 - what does that mean please
I enjoyed driving suburban trains but I am happy driving around the state for vline now. 😊 The 130 sign is the speed from that point reducing from 160kph. 👍😊
I don't get why the only ones doing driver eye view rail are from Victoria.
There are others in other states and countries. They may not be as prevalent as me 😀😀👍
I really hope they don't replace those hybrid bells at Macaulay Rd. They sound so epic and are just timeless and are also associated with Melbourne trains. And after the other level crossings with hybrids are removed in the next few years, they'll be the only ones left on the suburban passenger network :(
They might be there for a while yet. I guess time will tell. 👍😊
@@driver667I certainly hope so. I was devastated when the ones at Glenferrie Rd, Kooyong got replaced late last year.

9:11 Not "Macaulay" but properly written, "MacAulay"
@neilforbes416 its *Macaulay* and it's properly written
@@top40researcher31 Names starting with Mc or Mac have the next letter after the 'c' as Upper-Case, except if the name is Macey, Mack or Macky, but other than that it's MacDonald, MacAulay, MacDermott, MacQuarie, etc.
@@neilforbes416 *Neither does MacDonald, MacAulay, MacDermott, MacQuarie,* doesnt have an upper case Q. Your comment is unrelated to the video its about trains *not correcting someones grammar* so lets leave it at that shall we we move on i made my point. *Thank you for your understanding.*
The surname prefix Mac emerged in Scotland during the 12th century. The surname Mc, an abbreviation of Mac, was popularized later on. *The two names have no real difference.* However, ''Mac'' is more commonly used in Scotland, and ''Mc'' is more commonly used in Ireland.
