    @Wiwi Workshop *_We love your RUclips channel. We watch it on our 2 channels I have and have been watching religiously for a long time! RUclips has taught me so much about life and how to properly do things as a father. I'm trying to teach boys ages 13 and 9 woodworking so things they can use later in lofe. I didn't have a dad or grandparents around to teach me so I learned after failing many times. Watching your videos helps me teach my kids some valuable lessons. I'm always willing to learn!_* Thanks 👍

      I'm so pleased to hear it! By teaching woodworking, you are also giving your boys a gift for life. Nothing beats building something beautiful from wood with nothing more than your hands and a few tools. Thanks for your comment 👍

    The perfect addition for your drill press. By the way I made the draw slide attachments not all of them I didn’t go under 20mm but if I need to I will. I built a cabinet under my table saw. So much easier so thanks

    • @kiwiworkshop
      @kiwiworkshop  Год назад +1

      For sure, I'm working in a relatively small space and it's nice to finally mobilize my drill press. That's awesome you made the drawer slide spacers and good plan just making the sizes you need for now. I could also do with a cabinet under my table saw, since it's just an open space at the moment. Thanks.

    Nice spacers, handle jig, and height-adjustable stands!
    I've heard other woodworking youtubers say never to angle the pocket holes out towards an edge. Do you have any advice about when it's OK? (I'm not a pocket holer myself, just idly curious!)

    • @kiwiworkshop
      @kiwiworkshop  Год назад +1

      Thanks! Great to get your feedback.
      Regarding the pocket holes, the basic rule I follow is to place them on the side that doesn't show. This is the approach recommended by Kreg tools:
      learn.kregtool.com/learn/7-simple-joints-with-your-kreg-pocket-hole-jig/
      "2. Determine where you want to drill your pocket holes. If the outside of your box will show, like on an entertainment center, you’ll want the pocket holes on the inside faces. If the inside will show and the outside is hidden, such as on most kitchen cabinets, you can place the pocket holes on outside faces."
      This cabinet is holding up just fine having now done a few laps of my workshop with a 40kg drill press on the top. The way the cabinet is constructed won't be putting a great deal of force on the pocket hole joints.
      Come to think of it, this might be a good topic for a future video. I will put some thought into how I can setup an experiment stressing pocket hole joints with the screws in both directions. I suspect the joint will be stronger with the pocket holes on the outside, but by how much would be interesting! I could also experiment with and without glue.

    Hi Great video and nice editing work! What software do you use for the woodworking plans? Is it Sketchup or another program?

    Why not use 3/4 plywood for the frame and 1/2 plywood for the drawers?

    • @kiwiworkshop
      @kiwiworkshop  Год назад +1

      Yes, you could use 1/2" plywood for the drawers. I tried to keep the build as simple as possible and the plans show how to efficiently cut all parts from 3/4" plywood. You would also need a different screw length for 1/2" ply and setup the pocket hole jig for a different length. So, more parts and slightly more complex but some people might decide it's worth it if they want 1/2" plywood drawers. Thanks.

    I know you included Imperial measurements, but I don't know how to measure 3.68 inches. Guess I will need to buy one of those communist, metric tape-measures.🤪

    • @kiwiworkshop
      @kiwiworkshop  Год назад +2

      There is an imperial decimal to fractional inches chart in the build plans. It's pretty quick to use and in this case, the chart would show that 0.69" = 11/16". Therefore 3.68" = 3 11/16". The chart also includes measurements in 1/8" and 1/32" if you want to work to lower or higher precision.

      @@kiwiworkshop Just for giggles. I bought two 4x8 sheets of plywood, 6 sets of drawer slides, 250 pocket screws........$250. I hope my skills are up to this.... 😛

    • @kiwiworkshop
      @kiwiworkshop  Год назад +1

      @Troy Walker I'm sure you can can handle it - just remember the rule "measure twice, cut once" 🙂 If you get stuck at any point, at least you have this video to refer back to! I just noticed the wood trim for the top was missing from the supplies list in the plans (but was included in the parts list). I've just emailed you the updated plans including the dimensions for the top trim. It's just one length of wood and pine would be OK so should be relatively inexpensive.
