The Viennese audiences took him to their hearts like no other tenor .When he finally retired they presented him.with a gold ring -I believe a unique gesture His amazing ringing top D was and remains matchless.as does his lively phrasing .
What a brilliant, splendid Tenor who knew the "Art of Singing" and demonstrates this in "every" note. No covered Tones-just pure ringing, brilliant tones with gossamer pianissimo.
Much like his voice and this is a signature piece...I'd be happy if this was the common "voice" of tenors. However, I think I still lean toward Wunderlich in mind of the German-ish style of singing.
Sincerely I don't Like this voice to many color not omeoginic he as high notes but all back sound very gottural ,maybe for german repertoire is ok,onest personal opinion.
I love his voice, unique and gorgeous, such a grand artist!!!

Unbelievable, I have known him for a long time, but when I hear this singing, I am always again overwhelmed.

This is what strikes me as well! Really inspiring to hear singers who don't need to mess with facial postures, and can lean entirely on their breath.
an incredibly great voice and a most interesting artist.
Who could sing likr this today?
Take a look at Martin Muehle

The Flower Song from Carmen is played at the wrong speed-about 1/2 step high.
Oh my God!!! Thank you so much for posting!!! This is glorious!!!
I LOVE It Thank so verry much.
ILona Rosvaenge
Thanks
How do you spell the name of this opera? Thanks!
The Postillon of Longimaux
@@fuensi45 No, it's "Le postillon de Lonjumeau".
Great singer, though it’s a shame he only sang in German.
Danish,not German.
@@ivansperanza yes he was Danish but the language he most often sang in was German.
In these days opera was sung in the language spoken in the country where the opera house was located. In Italy Wagner was sung in italian.
@@franziskaschindler7087 I know.
Anche se è un cantante favoloso canta sempre in Tedesco!!! Che noia!!!
