    Saying the engine under the bonnet of the STi you can buy now is basically the same as the one under the bonnet of the P1 couldnt be further from the truth.
    The EJ207 under the bonnet of the P1 is a totally different beast compared to the weaker EJ257 fitted to the STi around the world.
    There's a reason the high end Spec limited editions released in Japan still use the EJ207.

    • @gordyboy01
      @gordyboy01 5 лет назад

      2006 Subaru Wrx Sti owner here, my daily driver, bought from new, now has as of today 141k miles on the original factory OEM EJ257 block and stock internals, not bad for a weaker block ;-). it's reliable motor if you service it properly, treat it right and don't flog it to death outside of what the components can handle, and yes I do drive properly, anything will break if you flog it to death eventually.
      The OEM Stock cast pistons are a well know limit of the EJ257 block, so if you are looking for more power going to flog it to death off redline or stick a bigger turbo, or whatever with out the correct components and supporting mods then yes it will break, that is true of any motor, even forged blocks break. just my two cents worth :)

    If people stop buying manuals, which they are, we’ll lose them too in the US. Unless Subaru can come out with a true DCT not this SVT/CVT whatever they call it transmission that’s in the current WRX. AUDI and Lexus have discontinued manual transmissions completely. Now Chevy doesn’t even offer the new corvette in a manual. They just don’t sell. The new generation are into technology they love there Tesla’s. That means they could scroll through Facebook while the car drives itself.

    In my opinion these cars lost there identity in 07. Instead of sticking to there roots they tried to make a road car but everything is just mediocre, nothing exciting about the engine, suspension, drivetrain or interior. I will never understand why they didn't put the closed deck engine in and bump the horsepower 400+ with the new gen.

    Everything will be crossovers and SUV’s from now on.. EVERYTHING. Gone will be the days of any sort of enthusiast cars like the STI or even the VW GTI soon. Just wait. It will be all “millennial” mobiles from this point on. 4 wheel all wheel drive hybrid / electric hovercrafts that are completely tech based. No one wants to drive anymore more. They just want to sit and do as Little as possible so they can scroll thru their phones more.

      yes to number 3, it cost me £560 ($858) in road tax every year and over £240 ($317) a month in fuel and around £220 ($290) every 3 months or 3000k miles to service it!!!!, although still cheaper than the girlfriend lol.
