Probably because there is a software update on the gen 2 that they are blocking from the gen 1. I honestly don't believe in this short of time they created a new earbud. It is all software/firmware related and they are choosing to ignore gen 1 owners. Do you have both earbuds? Do they look exact same? Or different?
Got my hands on the elite 10 and its sad that they are giving up after finally nailing it. The only thing I dont like is the hear through, its workable, but could be a bit better. Everything else is perfect for me.
Good review. I tried both, and subjectively the Jabra 8 Active gen 2 beat the Elite 10 gen 2 in every way except possibly comfort, which seemed a tie to me.
This is my first time finding this channel and my first video (Very informative 👌). Was not ready for the popsicle, icicle, test- 😂. They must've been doing this for years not to mess up that tongue twister cause I would've testicle'd so many times 😂😂😂
I became a Jabra fan after they released a firmware update introducing ANC for my 75t's even though this feature was not declaired during the product launch. But now they are pushing new flagship product just 10 months after original Elite 10. And what is worse is that the main differentiating feature between the two models is mic performance (esp. HearThrough) - something that can be improved via firmware update but likely will never be done just to keep this artificial separation of the two models.
I'm impressed with the call quality of J10 Gen 2, but I just bought the J10 two weeks ago :( overall the sound is amazing and the bass is rumbling, but the treble tends to be in the sharp side, I had to tune it down a lot.
your method of ANC testing along with the histogram was excellent. that should be the testing standard method from now on to my opinion :) and i must say that to me ears the 8 active gen 2 sound the best!
It sounded like the active noise canceling on the 8 gen 2 were better than the 10 gen 2, is that correct or is it only me? And if they have all the same features why is the 10 gen 2 more expensive?
Hi! I use the headtracking, with jabra 10, from time to time. I like the sensation that the sound is following my head movements and that it seems to come from around you. Bought the ear buds based on your review and Aaron. I am happy with my jabra elite 10, so will not upgrade at all. Probability my next earbuds will be Denon Perl Pro, when I will have a phone wtih aptx losses. I do not see the point to have 2 types of earbuds from the same compay, for a bit o an improvement. Love your reviews. Best regards.
I just watched through this review and I have to say, it seems pretty comprehensive! but, unfortunatly, it didnt address the main question I have been searching for an answer for: how is the latency when connecting to various devices? It looks like one of the selling points for these earbuds is low-latency connections, but the best I have been able to find are estimates putting it between 80ms to 20ms. Do you think you might be able to do a latency test, preferably on multiple devices such as android, IOS, windows/PC ect? That would be a huge help!
since you do the hearthrough last, which is great, you should do the no bud sample again at the very end just to compare it between the two. Awesome work guys.
I wonder if in a month or three if Jabra will do an OTA on the gen 1's to bring their sound profiles up to the same place as the gen 2's? Thanks for the great video chaps. It's about time I did the Patreon thing to say thank you. (is that how it's spelt in this scenario. Lol)? Many thanks for all you do for the audio community.
I have the Elite 8 Active Gen 1 and got them purely off of your review of them. I will go for the Elite 8 Active Gen 2 because I can plug the case into my KVM and switch audio with my keyboard, mouse, and display.
Yeah honestly the elite 8 active got a bigger upgrade. Still looking forward to a full comparison between elite 10 gen 1 vs gen 2 vs Galaxy buds 3 Pro.
I bought the 10s because of the spacial sound effect, believing it would change movies. It does something... But don't know what and I still don't know if I like it or not... Long story short, I don't use it anymore.
Regretfully the company behind Jabra has just announced that these will be the last earbuds they produce. Still wondering... should I buy these, knowing there will be no successor? Difficult decisions.
I might buy it just for a sentimental value. My 1st pair of tws was 65t from years ago and it was way ahead of its time with exceptional transparency mode when nobody even heard of such a thing and not to mention the eq on the app and level of customization back then. I kept buying a pair of Jabra from time to time and I have 5 of them now. Even though the audio quality, ANC, app, etc are not the best compared to other brands, the comfort of these buds are second to none. I still use them as my daily driver. Sad to hear that they'll stop making earbuds.
I have just spent 48 hours looking for the best price for the Active 8's, am glad I didn't pull that 'pay now' trigger yet. Although I did also purchase the LG Tone Free UF 8's. They also have the Bluetooth case transmission feature (I have no need of it). I did like everything else about the buds though and await their delivery in the coming days. Thanks for another great video chaps.
Thank you for this update and comparison video guys!! I think I prefer the Elite 10 Gen 1s since it has more bass!! 😁😁 I rather have more bass than a smart case which I wouldn't be using much anyway. But most importantly the Gen 1s' are on sale at the moment, about 40% off!!! 😁😁
I bought the Elite 8 since I liked the Elite 7 so much. The ANC on the 8 is not as good as the 7. Which made me think they nurfed the anc to sell the "Gen 2". I returned my Gen 1 Elite 8.
Darn guys, you are quick. I just got the announcement mail and pre-ordered the 10 Gen 2, because I already own the 8 active gen 1 and wanted to add a 10 to my rotation. I am gonna get it at the end of the month, we'll see...
I had Elite 10 for an hour. After pairing it to my iPhone, updating everything, I was really disappointed with the oval shaped tip and decided to sent it back to Amazon.
Nice review guys. LG has been making charging case bluetooth emitters for their buds for awhile now so not groundbreaking technology. The case is probably draining its battery when used in that mode I would guess so eventually you’ll run out of power in both your case and your earbuds but still a nice feature to have. I liked the old Jabras so I would probably like the new ones but not at a $30 premium. Would probably wait for the inevitable deep discounts around November. Oh and spatial audio? 🙄
@@bengoey If you go onto their website LG is still selling several wireless earbud models and they just announced a brand new version of the Tone free t90s with the bluetooth transmitter charging case, aptx adaptive, multi pairing, anc, Dolby atmos, head tracking, spatial audio and all the nonsense you would expect from a modern pair of earbuds. I own the 10 and 8 Actives gen 1s. One is my main and the other for workouts. The Elite 8 Active and 10 are the last to be made. Too much competition and rising cost are the reasons given. 🤔😔🇺🇸 Digital Trends is where I read this. 🙏
Hi guys! Great to see the indepth review of the gen 2 earbuds from Jabra. I have a question, for the last 3.5 years I have used Sennheiser momentum TWS 2, but now they have run out of battery capacity and last for just about 20 mins. I wish to buy a new pair and inclined towards Jabra. However, in India, only gen 1s are available at the moment. So, which one do I buy if it is gen 1 or wait for gen 2s? Plus, should it be the elite 10 or the 8s? In addition, of not Jabra then which ones in the similar price range? Finally, my usage is largely music listening while cycling and casual. Look forward to your advise. Thanks n regards, Abhinav
Great review fellas.. as always. Tried both of these out and didn’t like either of them before this new release. Can’t see them being better than the many buds I already have. Solid upgrade on the 8s it seems though. I hope Jabra keeps getting better though.
Could have been my favourite buds but they screwed up gesture controls (you basically lose volume controls having only 1 bud in) and multipoint was kinda confusing. So my Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 are still unbeaten!
Assuming others might have mentioned this also (too many to read through) - but LG has had this same case/audio function for a couple of years, in their Tone product.
I've had my elite active 75ts for a good while and am devoted to them. They even survived a trip around the clothes washer! I'm really tempted to get the 8 gen 2 and sticking them in a draw for when the 75t starts to fail... ... Maybe I can wait for a price drop / clearance in 6 months or so? .... It treat myself now, for better ANC etc?
Nearly all device both in the car at home or office has Bluetooth and the whole idea of getting a wireless earbuds is to go wireless 😁 spatial audio is only cool for movies...for music its a major gimmick that ruins the music experience in many cases
The 3.5mm jack is an interesting feature, if it lowers the latency i would use it on PC for sure, otherwise seems like a pointless feature in 2024 where most devices have bluetooth
litterally the same hardware earbus part numbers, software and case changed, that's it, and that's a shame that gen 1 don't get the software improvement.
Now the question does the elite 8 active gen2 beat elite 75t in terms of bass ? as being a long term ELITE 75T user, currently not much satisfied with the bass output of Elite 10.

Unsure if I should get the Elite 8 Gen 2 or the Elite 8 Gen 1. In Canada, the Gen 1 buds go on sale for $160CAD vs $299CAD for the new generation and those probably won’t go on sale any time soon…
what should i buy sony xm5 or Sennheiser Momentum 4 tws ??? the only issue with sony is its ear tips are ear wax magnet or suggest me something under 300$ which is available in india should have battery of 7 hrs+
Is there a hardware difference on the earbud? Or is the hardware update the case and the rest is software/OS updates to the earbud? Because to me it seems the improvement on the earbud here is software related and gen 1 buyers can benefit.
Unless I missed this in the video, but did you address with the hear through of the Elite 8 Active improving when listening to your own voice? Whenever I talk with my Gen 1 earbuds I still sound like I'm covering my ears when speaking.
For me i love the ergonomics of the gen 1 elite 10 except I feel there are too many quality control issues. I have had mine replaced 2 times and still I face issues many of which I believe could be solved with firmware and app updates. I feel Jabra needs to focus on making their existing products better and solving existing issues before releasing the next iteration.
mine are fine and maybe you had duds. I do agree that for sound improvement a firmware can do that but maybe ANC/transparency is more hardware so internals are upgraded. But I do agree that maybe the gen 2 is too soon and work on the current gens and then the gen 2 would be more of the next model if thats Elite 11 and 9 Active
I use head tracking Dolby Atmos on AirPods Pro when I watch videos on RUclips and Netflix but I tried this on the Elite 10 and it just sounds weird and I mostly turn it off unless I feel like I want to try it out again…
2:15 it doesn’t make sense, why would you transmit from the car to the earbuds? I guess this is meant to be plugged into Audio out, not Audio In, ie airplane headphone input, cd player or iPod classic.
Omgosh!!! I bought the gen 1 just 2 weeks ago, and I am travelling, just few days ago, I was just thinking that Jabra should release some with 3.5mm jack connected to Jabra case to the screen in airplane. And it is here. I am happy, and yet, very upset.
For the Elite 10, I do not even hear a slight ANC improvement. People at Jabra, don't hide behind dubious marketing promises that you don't keep and that really do not mean anything; you have great products. 🤷♀ The good thing is, my children will not ridicule for buying new earbuds or headphones /again/. 😂 Well, at least not yet, not these. 😅
Currently using jabra elite 7 pro, the right ear buds started getting muffled and has low sound. On the market for an upgrade as mine has issues and has crossed warranty period. Jabra is only providing Gen 1 Elite 10, here in India we won't be getting Jabra Elite 10 version 2. Need to find a tws with excellent mic and noise cancellation.
Best call quality in a noisy environment is Samsung buds FE or Nothing Ear 2. The higher end offerings aren't as good at cancelling ambient noise. Rtings has sound samples you can check
The 10 gen 2 microphone sounds better than the 1st gen. I’m sold on that. I need something that people can hear me while I’m at my dialysis treatments

Interesting theory. Is the gen 1 still available in the market where Gen 2 is available. If not then maybe you are right
Unless I missed this in the video, but did you address with the hear through of the Elite 8 Active improving when listening to your own voice? Whenever I talk with my Gen 1 earbuds I still sound like I'm covering my ears when speaking.
Hi! I just ordered the jabra elite 8 active gen 1 yesterday for 150€, now I'm torn if its worth paying the extra 80€ for the gen 2. What do you think?
80 is a lot of money. Don't think the difference is worth 80 Euros for us, personally.
@@DHRME Thank you! Loved the video and the jokes
I'm in exactly the same situation, but mine were just 138,65€ ;)
@@Kikwatz where did you buy?
Or you can wait for the gen 2 to go on sale.
Is it worth getting the elite 10 gen 2 if I have a Huawei free buds pro 3?
They are both different and maybe in terms of absolute performance, probably not.
That sucks!
Mine have been incredible so sucks you had issues!
mine are fine and maybe you had duds.
Great review guys!
2:15 it doesn’t make sense, why would you transmit from the car to the earbuds? I guess this is meant to be plugged into Audio out, not Audio In, ie airplane headphone input, cd player or iPod classic.
In case the cars speakers aren’t of great quality or if you don’t want to disturb fellow passengers.
My LE case is not working. ANybody else having that problem?
Do they both support using only one bud in either ear?
Yup. That’s pretty standard these days.
You intrigued me.
I have a Jabra Elite 5. Superb, good isolation from external noise.
So do I buy the Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2? Is it appropriate?
Does anyone know if the new cases have a slight silicone covering (like the elite active 75t) as the finish looks a bit more matt?
and still no LC3 codec
No?
They will add it at the end of the year. I asked the customer service about it.
If they made Jabra with mics from Jabra Elite 5 and sound from Elite 7 Active 😭
Great video guys!
The elite 10 seems so good, but I do feel that they are a bit expensive at $280
Thanks bud 🙏
Omgosh!!! I bought the gen 1 just 2 weeks ago, and I am travelling, just few days ago, I was just thinking that Jabra should release some with 3.5mm jack connected to Jabra case to the screen in airplane. And it is here. I am happy, and yet, very upset.
You can predict the future 😱
Will my airpods gen 2 case fitt wirh those ?
For the Elite 10, I do not even hear a slight ANC improvement. People at Jabra, don't hide behind dubious marketing promises that you don't keep and that really do not mean anything; you have great products. 🤷♀
The good thing is, my children will not ridicule for buying new earbuds or headphones /again/. 😂 Well, at least not yet, not these. 😅
Aha, I was struggling to hear a difference. The spectral said it was there but hearing it was hard
Probably ear wax build up
Best call quality in a noisy environment is Samsung buds FE or Nothing Ear 2. The higher end offerings aren't as good at cancelling ambient noise. Rtings has sound samples you can check
