When I took it out and tried to mix it exploded in a bubble all over my hand causing 2nd degree burns all over my hand! I’m not trying to discourage those of you who want to try this because I’m sure it work, BUT be safe! It’s hard to grasp how hot things can really be when they don’t appear that way! My microwave is 1500 watts and I achieved the wax through FOUR rounds of 30 seconds, and at the end of each round I gently stir the solution until the surface stops bubbling. After the 4 rounds, I had to do increments of 5 to 10 seconds and really keep my eye on it because it changes color instantly from then on. Good luck to the rest of you trying to make the wax, it’s worth the trial and error. stay safe. 💖

    I just did this wax tonight instead of doing my college essay HOWEVER, I have never and I mean NEVER had baby soft skin like this since I jumped outta the womb! My microwave is 1200 Watts so my very first attempt I ended up with low-key burnt wax, still worked (used my mum as a guniea pig to find out) however it was the most complex thing to manipulate cut it just wasn't sticking as it should. SO Instead of 6 intervals of 30 seconds I used 5 intervals of 30 seconds and 1 interval of 15 second and YALLLL that is the key. :)

    I have a 900 watt microwave and 3:30 mins was perfect. However, just like she said in the video, making sugar wax depends on a bunch of variables. Some important ones that I think she forgot to mention is that the length of time will also depend on what container you're using to heat the sugar and also how much sugar wax you intend to make. In the video she used a measuring cup and half of the recipe in her description. Should I have used a measuring cup likes hers, it might have taken 4:00 mins instead. However, I used a ceramic bowl with a larger base surface area and also used half of the recipe in the description and it took me 3:30 mins. Simply changing the container and how much sugar wax I was making would've changed that time. I highly recommend doing 30 second intervals and checking on the sugar and doing the cold water method to test if your sugar wax is ready. Also, I'd like to mention that in one of her videos she said that you could use Calamansi instead of Lemon or Lime (to any of my filipinos out there) and I did use Calamansi and it worked perfectly.
    This was my first time doing sugaring, surprisingly it didn't hurt for me, but the hardest part was working with the sugar wax (when doing underarms). I've been shaving so I couldn't properly tell the direction of growth of my underarms. Also, I started with my non-dominant hand (a mistake) on my first try. For beginners, I'd say using wax strips is easier. I had a hard time dealing with the wax because it would become too sticky quickly from my body heat (I used it 30-45 mins after making) (again, this is my first time). But the extremely nice thing about sugaring is that if you mess up, you simply can dissolve the sugar wax with water and try again.
    Honestly I had fun flicking it off my skin. It can indeed be messy, but it's fun haha. Also, powder! powder! powder! and after care! after care! after care! (I used rosewater toner and a little bit of coconut oil).

  • @abetweene
    @abetweene  5 лет назад +1578

    PSA: PLEASE REMEMBER TO COOK IN SHORT INTERVALS OF 30 or 45 SECONDS. DO NOT MICROWAVE FOR 3 MINS STRAIGHT. SUGAR GETS VERY HOT AND BUBBLES OUT OF CONTROL WHEN IT HEAT SPIKES. THIS CAN RESULT IN SPILLING OVER OR SHATTERING YOUR CONTAINER.
    PLEASE ALWAYS CHECK THE DESCRIPTION BOX FOR DETAILS. DO NOT USE PLASTIC OR METAL. PLASTIC WILL MELT! PLEASE USE BOROSILICATE GLASS ONLY.
    For reference, my microwave is 1000 watts 🔥

    I don’t know if anyone has commented this yet but I actually tried this recipe at home and it works! It’s a little tricky to get at first, you have to learn what texture to look for when the sugar wax is ready. But within a day I got the hang of it! A couple of things to note : each hair is on its own timeline and you may not get all of your hairs after one wax. This is just because some hairs are still babies and they need to grow out more haha. Also! Water is your best friend! with cleanup , cold water will dissolve any wax off of your hands and nails (the paste will stick! especially to nail polish I’ve noticed) lastly: you only need to “pass” once or twice over the hair as long as you allow the sugar to sit on your skin for 5-8 seconds. This time will allow it to really adhere to the hair and you’ll get much more in one go. :) thanks for the great tutorial my love!! ♥️

    wow 😳 this really works!! i tried it on my pits and it hurt a little but i feel like it less painful than real waxing. it left my pits super soft and i would 10/10 recommend. just make sure that if your wax doesn’t turn brown after 3:30 that you add extra time but make sure to keep an eye on it and check on it every 20-30 seconds

    I got it on my third try! At first I was expecting the color to be exact immediately after taking it out of the microwave. Whenever I did this, it got black. So I did it in steps, I took it out while it was a pale-golden yellow and waited for it to cool a bit and got the color. I think that’s the trick in not getting black sugar.
    Definitely keep in mind the mixture keeps “cooking” as you take it out of the microwave, and can burn. My microwave is 1500W and I microwaved for 2:30 mins and then did intervals of 25 seconds where I took it out and let it cool and microwaved again until golden brown color. Good luck!

    Tried this today for a bikini wax using some diy wax strips made with an old pair of jeans. It definitely works! It was a bit messy being my first time doing it myself. I will add a disclaimer that I have been getting professional Brazilians for almost 6 years, so my hair grows in very fine, which DID make the process quicker and less painful. Can’t wait to try it on my legs, arms, etc! This has proven to be a great way to get by when my salon is closed bc of the pandemic. BTW thank you for making these videos and keeping it so genuine and helpful 💗

  • @stephaniea5424
    @stephaniea5424 5 лет назад +53

    This does work! However, here are a few ••precautions••. I've learned these the hard way...
    ♡it's best to use a piece of fabric and sugar wax than just using the sugar wax itself, especially of you're a beginner. The sugar wax can sometimes be harder to get off on its own, and you want to rip it off as quickly as possible.
    ♡SUGAR A DAY OR TWO BEFORE YOU GO OUT!!! if you're sugaring because you wanna get rid of your hairs for going out, don't do it on the same day! Sugaring can sometimes leave a sort of rash that is made up of red dots. You'll have moisturise it (the rash can sometimes be a bit sore).
    ♡I found sugaring painful. I wanted an alternative to shaving cause shaving doesn't last long and it's annoying. However, i think I'll use hair removal cream next time 😂😂
    ♡If you do get a rash like I did, don't touch it. Wear loose clothing as they wont irritate it and it's best not to exercise as sweat can make it worse. ♡sugaring will work the best with long hairs. If you have short hair that's just regrowing, you might have to let it grow out a bit again as the sugar wax may not get a hold of these hairs.
    ♡good luck!!!♡

      @@samie8352 Hi
      I'm sorry, I just saw this! I'm no expert, so the only thing that I can recommend is that your cooking time might be wrong. Try experimenting with the times, cooking it less o more. Mine burns if I leave it the 3:30 seconds she suggested. Every microwave is different and it definitely shouldn't be too hot for your skin!!! I'm sorry if my English is bad, it's not my first language.

    I tried this and got it perfect first try! I did the two 30 second increments, then two minutes, then after that I did 30 second increments (can’t remember how many, maybe three or four increments.) and I kept a small bowl of ice cold water, and each time I took it out after an increment I poured a small amount into the bowl. I stopped microwaving once the solution turned into a solid when immediately submerged in the water and I was able to mold it. It worked great! I’d say it turned more into a harder wax. I love it!! So easy!

    Love this video! I tried this three times and the third time's the charm. I think it will be helpful for you to mention to your followers the importance of the kind of microwavable container to use (glass or ceramic only) and it's gotta be tall or wide enough so the sugar doesn't boil over and ruin the microwave plate. I had to use a 7" by 7" ceramic dish about 3" tall so it doesn't bubble over. I used a mug and smaller dish the first two times and effed up. XD

    And microwaved it for 30 seconds twice like she did and then for 1:30 min since mine was only half . The key for it to work is kneading it properly. I took a little piece after it slightly cooled down and knead it until it was pale.
